What a fun place!! 4/8/2006

Friends of ours took us here for dinner while we were in town. It is such a funky place! The decor is so unique! We ordered a few things to share, but then we each ordered our own entree. They say that everything should be ordered to share, but I don't know if we could have agreed on which entrees we wanted to share. We shared their fries and the Asian salad. Both were very large portions and were very tasty. All of our entrees were delicious! I really liked mine, so I was glad that we didn't share. :-) The desserts were very small, but were the perfect size after eating such a large meal. What made me fall in love with this restaurant was the espresso martini! It is the best drink I've ever had! I had to get the recipe so that I could try to make it when we got back home. It was perfect. Just the right flavor, and not an overwhelming taste of alcohol. Yum! more

chic place 1/16/2006

Stephen Starr owns this hip and chic new restaurant. The multi-million dollar, three-story, 340-seat restaurant hosts a jet-set cool atmosphere with a menu of global tapas and creative cocktails. Its got great tapas and cocktails. the place gets real busy on the weekends so i tend to avoid it. But on the weekdays this place is very nice and quiet with little or no waiting. Its got a great bar and lounge upstairs too so thats great. more

Continental Midtown- Fun, whimsical Stephen Starr Restaurant! 1/16/2006

Continental Midtown is located near Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia. This restaurant and bar is popular with the 20's-30's crowd. The first floor has a large dining area and a bar. The second floor has another bar and seating. The third floor is a large rooftop bar, that is enclosed in the winter. It is a lot of fun to have a meal here- the food is good and they have desserts like creamsicles, cotton candy and more. The drink selection is great, with some inventive concoctions. The Buzz Aldrin is great. more

A fun night out... 10/3/2005

The Continetal midtown is a great addition to Center City. The roof deck is great and the menu is extensive, they have just about every kind of martini that you can imagine. The food is very good too, I always get the shoe string fries. I highly recommend the Continental for a fun night out. more

fun place to spend an evening in rittenhouse 9/15/2005

Cont. Midtown is a fun place to spend an evening in rittenhouse sq. area. the food is large portions, they have a great drink menu. The desert tapas menu is a lot of fun (although the portions are WAY too small). But the best part of Cont. Midtown is the ambiance. The first floor features a inground dining area which feels like a homely living room area. The second floor has fun swing chairs and a fun bar in the back. The top floor is an outdoor deck that is packed in the evenings. In the winter, the deck has a enclosed area. more

upscale drinks and snacks 8/20/2005

This place is great in many ways. It is like they marketed it specifically for me. There is high kitsch value and a fairly relaxes atmosphere for a Star restaurant. The food is good and is sort of an American snack food tapas set up, which makes it better for snacking and drinking, than dinner. I like the roof deck a lot, as Philadelphia is sorely lacking comfortable outdoor seating. I recommend this place during non-dinner hours (so before 7pm on weekends or on weekdays). The clientèle from old city invades during Friday and Saturday nights. more

Stephen Starr Establishment Opens a Branch in West Center City 8/17/2005

The Continental of Market Street recently opened a branch in West Center City, one of the latest Stephen Starr establishments. The new Continental has the same imaginative martini menu as its sister site except the prices have all gone up by a dollar or two. It also has significantly more space - a downstairs is reserved more for eating but the upstairs has a bar, rope swing seats, and tables for lounging and chatting. Unlike the Old City Continental, you can actually sit upstairs before midnight without having to order dinner. Like its sister site, this Continental is a place for splashy young professionals to come to see and be seen while dropping cash on some drinks. There's no dress code but most people wear dressy casual attire - if you show up just casual, you WILL feel underdressed. I especially recommend as far as the martinis go the Dean Martini (love the name) which is a dirty martini that comes with a Lucky Strike cigarette and the classic Pimm's Cup to get in touch with your British side. more
