BEST PERUVIAN RESTAURANT IN ATL 1/29/2009

Contrary to the other review seen here, people of variety of races and cultures CAN make different types of cultural foods deliciously. I go to Contigo Peru 1, 2, AND 3 multiple times and I am in love with its food. It's authentic Peruvian cuisine at its finest. (Of course if you want REAL Peruvian cuisine, go to Peru. That's where you'll find it. Not in any restaurant here in the US.) Other ""Peruvian"" restaurants around the Atlanta area simply do not compare to this wonderful restaurant. And so what if the waitresses or the cooks aren't Peruvian? Why the discrimination? They do their job correctly, make the Chicha Morada completely delicious, and the waitresses are a friendly lot. Other ""Peruvian"" restaurants make their food too bland and boring while in here I'm assaulted by delicious tastes from the wonderful cooks. And as you're probably wondering, yes I am Peruvian. I know real Peruvian cuisine and I do not criticize the people who work there simply for not being Peruvian. That's not bad; that's just simply being ignorant. Its as if you go to an Italian Restaurant and expect to find it filled with Italians. That's not being very realistic, now is it? Also as a side note: in the majority of restaurants now who do you find working in the kitchen? Think about it. One more thing, you're going there to eat not nit pick the workers' knowledge of that country; you're not their Examiner. That's rude. In conclusion: Contigo Peru 1, 2, & 3 rocks. Go sometime and learn a bit about our culture. Pros: Ambience, Food, Prompt seating Cons: Music more

Carboard in food, spoiled meat, watered down drinks..... 7/11/2008

My family and I went to the one on Indian Trail and all i can say is that it was the worst dinning experience I have had by far. First of all, do Peruvians even own the restraunt? If it wasnt for the name ""Contigo PERU"" i would have never known. My family is native to Peru and we've been to our share of Peruvian restraurants here and there. Walking in all we heard was Mexican music, mariachi or however u spell it. We started off by ordering a jar of chicha and it tasted watered down.... basically water with purple coloring. My father ordered Milanesa (breaded steak), my mother Jalea de Pescado (fried fish chunks), my sister Bistek a lo Pobre (steak with fried egg, french fries, rice, and fried banana), and I ordered Arroz Chaufa (Peruvian style fried rice). As we got our orders my mother noticed that the fried fish had a moist, pale yellow look to it, not your usual golden brown crunchy fish. My sister noticed a clear film on her fried eggs, nothing to be concerned about but i thought it was kinda weird. As my dad took the first bite of the Milanesa he noticed a strange smell to the meat. We all took a whiff and concluded that the meat was spoiled. It had a real vinigery smell to it. As for myself, the rice was really moist and sticky, not like your typical Arroz Chaufa thats like fried rice that isnt sticky. As i began to take my first couple of bite the rice tasted vinigery and very salty. I took another bite and felt something not normal. As i took out the piece of egg that felt strange, i realized it was a piece of white cardboard about 1 in x 1/2 in. As a family, weve been to Contigo Peru many time before, but we have never had any problems up until today. THE WORST dinning experience by far. more

It used to be a peruvian restaurant 7/2/2007

If you are looking for peruvian food.. go someplace else. Last time my husband and I went there, we were dissapointed at the service and the food. It was definitly not peruvian food. even the music playing had nothing to do with Peru. I love mexican food, but if I want to eat mexican food and listen to mexican music, I'll go to a Mexican restaurant. more

Did not have a good experience 4/12/2004

I visited the one on Indian Trail. They had a soccer game turned up so loud on I don't know how many speakers. I had to ask them several times to turn it down. I could not hear any of my family member talk. The food was average. Was not as tasty as I expected. more

Something different 11/1/2002

I've never had Peruvian food, so I can't be a critic of its authenticity. But, I know what I LIKE, and I like Contigo Peru. It's not in a pretty part of town, and the atmosphere is no different than mid-range Mexican or Chinese restaurants. The food was very tasty. I thought it was a tad high for lunch, but you get plenty to eat. They serve a jalepeno dip with bread that is out of this world. Can you say picante? The chicken dish my husband had was not boneless so he was a little surprised. My shrimp dish was fine. Okay amount of shrimp and LOTS OF RICE. But the seasoning was so good, I forgot all about the shrimp. I plan to go back for supper sometime and try more of their seafood. If you like Mexican but want a change of pace, this is it. Pros: Inexpensive Cons: industrial area more
