Fun for the whole family 4/13/2006

Conner Prairie is a great place to take the kids and spend a day learning about the past. It's one thing for kids to read about something in a book or watch the History Channel but actually seeing it and being able to participate is a whole new level of learning and to their surprise they just might enjoy themselves! more

Stepping Back in Time 10/27/2005

What a GREAT way for kids to know how it was in the "olden days". It's like stepping back in time. There are often programs such as the Headless Horseman , Follow the North Star, Independence Day Celebration and more. There are also numerous educational opportunities for the young and old alike. You can make candles, and do chores... learn how hard it really was to live back in the day. more

Fun 9/17/2005

I remember loving this place when I was little. I loved the authenticity. And it's pretty interactive. Much later, in my twenties I had to go to a mandatory motivational corporate "team bonding" day held there. Didn't seem so relevant to me then considering that I worked for a cosmetics company. Now that I have a daughter of my own, I would like to go back with her. It is a magical place for kids. more

Take a walk back in time 8/31/2005

Take your kids to see what life was like in the old days...they can card wool, churn butter and watch smiths at work. The actors working there are a real community of sorts, and wear period-authentic clothing, in addition to learning all the skills necessary...no shortcuts here! They knit, spin, bake, etc. by hand. New activities daily. Fun for kids old enough to understand the activities and the idea of "history". more

Educational AND Fun 8/1/2005

Conner Prairie is a great place for children to see what life in the 1800s was like. They have all kinds of activities for kids to do from churning butter to viewing the looms. You never know what you'll find because the activities change daily. They have special 4th of July activities; a baseball game (old fashioned); symphony on the prairie (Indpls. Symphony Orchestra) and many more annual events. Admission is reasonable. Scout troops welcomed & free patch program more
