I have been a loyal customer for 30 yrs. Great Buffet or you can get a slice and a salad. Pros: Great Wheat Crust,--Large Toppings

austin best pizza 9/21/2003

savage on whole wheat. don't forget whole wheat! this is the best pizza austin has to offer. pizza... yeah the yankee that thinks the movie came first wasn't here, or maybe even born when Conan's opened up. Conan the barbarian was created by a Texan, a central Texan in fact, Brownwood. Conan's Pizza is a huge awe inspiring pie! their management just doesn't have a clue, else there would be a dozen successful restaurants in town, and more around the country. Pros: PIZZA , whole wheat crust, savage Cons: atmosphere, too far for delivery, poor marketing more

OK pizza, for Austin 2/15/2003

Presumably the ""Conan"" name comes from some fascination with the comic book character/movie of the same name, it makes an odd theme for a pizza place. The images to support this are on the wall and of a sexual nature that may be a selling point to students but does not help the pizza. While the pizza may be a departure from chain restaurants, and may be a welcome change, for Italians and real pizza afficianados the pizza will be a disapointment. The crust was heavy, the toppings simply dumped on top, and baked in a way that said to me that the recipe needs work. Students are not so chosey and this may account for this pizza's success. more

THE place for PIZZA!!! 2/10/2003

I had heard about Mangia's upon arrival to Austin and although it's good pizza- CONAN's is the BEST!!! Thick, cheesy slices with the whole wheat crust taste OH SO GOOD! YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY Try it with the pepperoni and garlic toppings, just make sure you're not out on a date.. The inside is reminiscent of 70's interior- dark, all wood and the place is tiny, but if you need to satisfy your pizza craving, look no further than Conan's! Reasonable prices and great service too! Pros: Inexpensive more

Uncooked crust 12/8/2002

The store on Anderson Ln. had poor service, food quality and value. They took 45 minutes to cook a veggie pizza for their buffet that wasn't fully cooked. It should have been called an ""Olive Pizza"" since they loaded up on olives and skimped on other veggies. Their side salads are also mostly olives with some wilted and white parts of Iceberg lettuce. This was NOT the best pizza in Austin! Pros: 80's decor Cons: 80's decor, nasty pizza, slow service more

Ode to Conans... 12/5/2002

A good solid pizza that is slowly dissapearing from the Austin scene. A good thick crusted, tasty saused, liberally cheesed pizza that may see the same route as the Hole in the Wall, Electric Lounge, Liberty Lunch and the Black Cat... Pros: flavorful, fun, Friendly more

Dang good pizza 11/11/2002

CLASSIC TASTY PIZZA 11/5/2002

Conan's Pizza rates number 1 with me. It is tasty, generous, and has wonderful crust. The PAN PIZZA is the best in Texas. Pros: Good tasting, Choice toppings, Generous cheese Cons: noisy restaurant, service needs a smile, No coupons more

Finer than frog fur 11/1/2002

Pizza Heaven 8/9/2002

Great sauce! Try the whole-wheat crust--you won't be disappointed. The deep dish pie is well worth the money! Pros: Freshest Toppings, Tastiest Sauce Cons: Expensive, Outdated decor more

Still thu best 8/6/2002

I love pizza and I'm still in love with Conan's. Being a native Austinite I've tried quite a few pizza joints and would put Conan's and Mangias both in my top 2...Thanx and enjoy ! more

just like home 7/20/2002

when i first moved to austin from my home-town i thought i wouldn't be able to find a pizza place equaling my native 'johnny's' but i have. conan's has a full taste, great cheese, toppings, and fabulous sauce. the breading is to die for. i'd wager there's beer in the crust, that's the way they do it back home. and i love it! Pros: not too crowded, inexpensive, great tastes Cons: limited delivery area more
