Absolutely Horrible 12/4/2012

Absolutely the most disgraceful, unprofessional and waste of time I have ever been to in my life. Everything at first seemed awesome bringing my dog here for her shots and so I continued to bring her here even though they were a little pricey. We then had to get her spayed and of course we chose this location to do the procedure. After the surgery they placed staples in her stomach. They told us we had to return 1 1/2 weeks later to remove them. We did and everything seemed fine. About 2 weeks later my dog started to break out in a really bad rash all around where the incision was. We brought her back to the vet concerned and come to find out they left a staple inside of her. They said they removed it and checked for anymore but did not see anything and gave her medicine to heal the infection. Everything healed up and looked good or so we thought until about 2 months after they found the staple they left in she broke out in an even worse rash along where the incision was so we brought more

We began using this CCVH about 7 years ago when one of our dogs ingested some Rx medication. Mistaking the practice for a 24 hour emergency service, we arrived 45 minutes before their scheduled opening. Without blinking, the techs that was already in the building began treating my dog and called a vet in early. my dog's life was saved and CCVH became our regular vet since then. I continue to be very pleased with the service we receive. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful at all times toward every person and every pet. From what I can see, there is a very low turn over in staff. Many of the vets have worked there a very long time. The practice supports a number of animal charities and I particularly appreciate that they embrace my bully breed dogs. more

Absolutely horrible! 9/25/2011

I began taking my dog to Columbus Central Veterinary in April of this year for his annual shots. They seemed great then...just a simple and quick in and out visit for his shots. Overpriced, but it seemed to be worth it considering they had an emergency clinic and they were only 5 minutes from my house. Until a few weeks ago, my dog cut his paw pad outside on a piece of glass and we immediately rushed him to the vet. As soon as we got there, one of the techs carried him to the back while we had to wait in the waiting room wondering what was going on. I felt so uneasy about not going to the back with him but I figured it was standard procedure. The vet then told us that she would have to suture his paw pad. My boyfriend and I both found this odd considering the wound was not a laceration but an abrasion. How do you suture an abrasion? But we put our trust into them and let them suture his paw. He came out about 45 minutes later still under anesthesia which was very hard for me to see. Th more

Worst Experience Ever.

They all found it amusing that he was running into walls and falling down and kept giggling. I've never seen anything like that and it broke my heart. I expected them to be a bit more compassionate. We were to go back in a week for a bandage change and his first check up. After the first bandage change, my dog chewed his bandage off while we were at work. When we got home and saw, it looked as if his paw had never been sutured in the first place. We wrapped his paw and made another appointment to take him back. When we went back, our appointment was at 8 pm. They didn't take us in until 9:30. They took our dog and about 20 minutes later the tech came out to tell us they'd have to re suture his paw. Keep in mind, this was 5 days after he chewed the bandage off. Once a wound is open for 24 hours you aren't supposed to re suture it because it has already started healing. Why did they want to re suture my dog's paw? So we asked to speak with the vet. The tech took us into an exam room where we waited for 40 minutes all the while listening to the vet and the techs talk in the hallway. Talking and laughing and joking as if they had nothing to do. After the 40 minutes, we left. I made an appointment at another vet and when I took my dog there, she explained that she never sutures paw pads because the minute the dog puts weight down on that leg, the stitches pop right out. She wrapped his paw and told us we could re wrap it ourselves every 5-7 days. So, not only did Columbus Vet suture something they should have known wasn't meant to be sutured, but they wanted to do it a second time 5 days after the stitches came out...once the wound was already healing on it's own. I believe that they saw how vulnerable and young I was and knew that they could convince me that I would need to spend all this money for my dog to heal. It has been a week since our last visit to them and his paw is healing beautifully. I would not recommend Columbus Veterinary to anyone. They are not in the business for the pets, they are clearly only in it for the money. more

Top Notch Docs and staff 7/4/2011

I recently had to have my Dog dallas put down due to health issues 7/3/2011 , Dr Boden and the entire staff were warm, receptive and above all , compassionate. The dignity and love they showed my Dallas and my husband and I will NEVER be forgotten , THANK YOU . more

Wouldn't Dream of going anywhere else! 8/20/2010

Our introduction to CCVH was when our new puppy was found to have Parvovirus and both wife and I were at work. A friend took our pup to the vets there and they took great care and allowed us to pay them after we arrive home from work. \r From there we decided that no one else would see our dogs. We have had two dogs spayed there and our yellow lab had stomach surgery there after eating a rug for the 2nd time , and also had her torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament replaced in her knee. The vets, techs, and office staff are always kind and compassionate and very helpful. We've been going there for routine visits as well as emergency visits for over 7 years now. more

Picky Pet Owner...This is the best. 7/2/2010

Excellent medical care for all types of animals; they now even take care of farm animals. I have had my two long term dogs taken care of there. I had my dogs for 13 years and had been to many different vets trying to find a place that was caring AND knew what they were doing. After many years of searching I found Col. Vet. Hsp. . They are all knowledgable; it does not matter which vet you get...other places I would have to request a specific one so I knew I was getting someone who knew what they were doing...and if that person was not on duty at the time, I was stuck. Not here; they are all excellent. Even the people at the front desk are kind and caring. I am not sure if they are considered expensive as I never really compared. If you are taking the time to have a pet you should choose a competant and caring doctor; and this is certainly the place. I now take my new puppy and kittens there as well. Top notch service. A bonus: 24 hour emergency help. more

Diagnosis Correct 10/4/2009

I noticed my dog acting sickly, my local Vet in Medford had no clue, or modern equipment to find out. I went to Columbus Vet Hospital and my dog was seen by Dr. Bowden as an emergency. He was diagnosed immediately by Dr. Bowden. Since that time, all of my precious four legged family members see Dr. Bowden and some other doc's there for everything. It is worth the time(be patient for an emergency) to be there in a true caring enviornment for the healthy check up's as well as care for the occasional problems. They also have equipment like xrays, which the Vet in Medford never had, and missed inportant problems which would have alerted us to issues immediately. Pros: Modern equipment and Expert Care more

Helpful, friendly, and caring 8/10/2009

I've used this vet for the last 9 years for my 4 inside pets and the 2 outsideferal cats I take care of. The veterinarians themselves have always been very helpful and available for questions - either during the actual visit, or later via phone. The vets actually call me themselves (as opposed to the front desk staff) to give me tast results and updates when my pets have to stay there. The front desk staff are always friendly and willing to give me updates as well - they even actually go to the back to look at the animal to give an actual update, rather than just reading the chart. Pros: Generous office hours, 24 hr emergency service Cons: Sometimes long waits more

Ask a lot of questions with this vet! 6/16/2009

My neighbor told me about columbus vet, and after you hear what I have to say, I hope they get shut down. Not only is the place gross, the rooms are horrible. You can hear everything everyone is saying, and I mean everything. They don't seem up to date with anything. The walls are so thin, I can hear everything everyone was saying! Cursing about clients, about their pets. They were saying how they can't stand some of the people. Somebody was even talking about not having licenses to do what they do. That concerned me VERY much. I read in the paper a month ago about how A vet place got shut down because there technicians weren't licensed. They do all this work on your pet, and I don't think they are licensed. WOULD YOU WANT TO GO TO A HOSPITAL AND BE TAKEN CARE OF SOMEONE WHO HAS NO LICENSE, basically just guessing what they do? I THINK NOT. I WILL BE BACK, AND IF I DON""T SEE AN IMPROVEMENT THE POLICE WILL BE INVOLVED! Pros: -- Cons: NO LICENSES! more

I have taken my dogs here for the past ten plus years. The vet and staff have always been very concerned and caring. I recently had to euthanize one of my dogs and the vet came out to the car. They are very supportive and sympathetic. more

EXTREMELY SKILLED DOCTORS & CARING STAFF!!! 3/1/2009

Whoever wrote those bad reviews must not have went to this vet! They must not know how to read (because they obviously can't write or spell!) and are thinking of a different veterinary clinic when they wrote that. I have been using this facility for all of my animals for over 10 years now and I would never even think of going somewhere else. These people treat your animals as if they were their own! You get to recieve updates on your animals and visit them if they have to stay at the hospital. I went to visit my dog after a critical surgery he had and while I was in the back, those animals were recieving better care than what I see in human hospitals!! Also this hospital is one of the few around that has an overnight technician there to care for all the animals unlike other places that leave your animals there unsupervised over the night (like my last vet). Their hours are very convenient, I am a professional myself and it is hard for me to find time to get things done, but they have weekend appointments which are great. Also I noticed this practice seems to never turn anyone away, no matter what kind of difficulties the clients may have. I overheard the one receptionist telling a distressed client about care credit and consoling her that her pet would be taken care of and they were going to work something out for her. There is not one other practice that does that around here, you want to know why? Because all other practices only care about your money and not your pet! I highly recommend this veterinary clinic to all of my friends and family because they have always been there for me when I needed them! Thanks guys! Pros: Everyone there is very educated and knowledgeable Cons: There is a wait sometimes due to emergencies more

Great Service and Professionals 2/22/2009

What can I say? There was no waiting and the service cost exactly what they quoted. They took my champion sired show dog and took care of him as a highly prized member of my family. They were quick and I was even able to schedule an appointment on a Sunday in the middle of the afternoon. Try that elsewhere. Pros: Doctors and Staff Hours are Great more

Won't Go Anywhere Else!! 9/28/2008

Over the last 26 yrs. I've seen many changes to CCVH. All for the better, I might add. I've always taken my babies (dogs) there for a broken bone, regular check-ups, illness, medications etc. and have never had a complaint or problem. Then my fiancee and I adopted a retired military working dog in 2007, and now find myself fostering for a local animal rescue alliance. So...between my three dogs and the one extra foster pooch, I can sometimes spend lots of time at CCVH. Everyone there, from the lowest on the totem pole (who they are, I'm not sure, because they all help you no matter what you need) to the most senior Veterinarian, I've always encountered smiles, professionalism, compassion, honesty, patience & during those awful times ~ sympathy, because they ALL CARE. I couldn't possibly recommend better medical caregivers than those at Columbus Central Veterinary Hospital. more

I went there for an emergency... 3/14/2008

...once when my vet was closed for vacation. It would be so much more wonderful if the vet was still 24 hours. We did have to wait a bit, but probably really not too long and just because I was so anxious to have my dog seen. There is a huge lobby and tvs to watch, and the vet was nice and helpful. more
