Best

I am very happy with my glasses. I went into the establishment and it was a great enviornment. The staff was very friendly. There was a great selection of frames to choose from...

Worst

The guys there were making fun of me and unnecessary jokes regarding me and my partner. Didn't feel good.

Worst place ever. DISHONEST. I went for glasses to see far and close. They proposed what they called ""progressive"" lenses, saying they were like bifocals but without the line, they were also pushy and said I had to order the glasses the same day of the exam, so I ordered them. (my insurance later said that was a lie). Alex, the owner I think, omitted to say that you can only see close through a tiny spot of the lens and thus need to ""train"" (learn to move your neck to catch a glimpse) your eyes for 2 or 3 weeks before you feel comfortable with the glasses. They gave me this basic important information only when I went to pick up the glasses, not before making them. I did not accept the glasses, but they kept my money anyway. more

terrible chain 12/8/2010

I've been going to this location for at least 10 yrs and the quality of service has dropped tremendously. In person the staff are pleasant but over the phone they suck. I requested a copy of my contact prescription sent to me (which I always do when I travel just in case). This last time, I lost my purse which had my glasses and replacement contacts. I thought well I ahve my prescription, let me run out and buy a single pair. Lo and behold, on the prescription sent to me, Cohen's put theyre brand of lenses instead of itemizing all the brands of lenses I could wear so as to ensure that I couldnt go somewhere else and buy lenses. So during my trip and wedding that I attended, I was blind b/c I couldnt purchase another set of lens. I will never go to COhen's again. Apparently this is a standard practice of Cohen's now and many people have gotten burned by this practice. more

I LOVE MY GLASSES!!!!! GREAT SERVICE!!! 8/1/2010

I am very happy with my glasses. I went into the establishment and it was a great enviornment. The staff was very friendly. There was a great selection of frames to choose from. The staff was very helpful in explaining what type of glasses I had needed. It was the first time I was wearing a progressive lens. I went back and purchased sunglasses as well. I got a great deal on my glasses. I would highly recommend this store. I was on my lunch break and I was able to get what I needed quickly. I get compliments on my glasses all the time. Pros: Great selection, great deals, quick and efficient, service more

REFUND POLICY!!! VERY IMPORTANT!! MUST READ!! 2/3/2010

I ordered my glasses from Cohen's. Upon first glance, I thought that this was a very nice establishment. The sales lady was personable, the eye exam was cheap and thorough. However, it was over 3 days before I received my glasses. They said that they had to order the lenses. I said that I no longer wanted the tint on the glasses and since they told me that they tint in the shop it would be at no expense to them to refund me that money. They said it's their store policy not to do so. Note: This was before they did anything. Then, I asked for a refund on the purchase. They said definitely not.\r \r THEY DO NOT REFUND YOUR MONEY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE! DO NOT BUY FROM THEM UNLESS YOU DON'T MIND WAITING A WHILE TO GET THEM. THEIR SERVICE IS VERY SLOW AND THEY ORDER FROM AN ONLINE SUPPLIER. PREPARE TO WAIT.\r \r Oh yeah...I called with a problem and I was hung up on twice. I had to call corporate to ask them to communicate with the actual store. I would never order from them again.\r \r I just got off the phone with Cohen's Corporate office and it's sad to say that there corporate office is just as poor as their store service. They said no refunds and they said that they expect customers to read a sheet that has their customer service policy, which is somewhere on the wall in their shop. They say that this is what protects them.\r \r I had a tint on my glasses that they hadn't done yet that I no longer wanted. They said...""Sorry, no refund, but you're welcome to spend that $60 credit at any of our 150 stores across the country"". Have a nice day."" I told her that there's no chance that I'll ever return or buy anything from them again.\r \r Also, the poster below is totally right about his posting about their prices. They advertise lower prices and compelling deals, but when you get there, they add lens charges. Bottom line is, there prices are outrageous for their lower brands. I wouldn't reccomend them to anyone. Cons: AWFUL CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE more

This is the most horrible place you can go for eyeglassess 6/9/2009

Horrible Horrible Horrible. I went into this place, they greeted me well, told my insurance would cover the eye exam only and 20% of on the frames.Everything went well till the point came to choose the frame. We liked some and they started showing me frames of unheard brands and all their prices starting from 300$ plus...ridiculous..,when u can get a D&G tortoise frame for 319$..and then i cheked the prices of more branded ones, like prada,d&g,bvlgari etc and they all listed a store sticker in the range of 500 to 600$ for a frame!! ridiculous when those models i checked had a retail price of 300 to 400$..i told them that these prices are too high compared to the normal retal list price(for eg in lenscrafters)..then they gave me a reason that lenscarfters can sell for that price coz they own the company which manufacture for most of the designers.c'mon then why would someone go to cohens!!..haha..Then i told them clearley that i want a branded frame at a resonable price and after all the blabbering and discount i got a calivin klein frame for 437$ and the retail ist price of the same is only 295$ and shows around 172$ online(framesdirect). They treated me like as if they are doing a great favour when showing the different frames and the ladies there are horrible and mocking. The eye doctor and another african american sales woman was giving me mocking smiles and looks as if i am doing some grave mistake by asking for an itemised bill.and it turned out that they wont put the brand name or model number on the bill which would proabaly get them out of a law suit.which they probably wont.\r \r This is the most horrible place you can go for eyeglassess.Never go there..\r 1)Frames Collection-Horrible(only 2-3 models from deisgner brands.just name sake)\r 2)Customer Service-Very Bad.They might even abuse you if you ask for a prescription and itemised bill\r 3)Price-Way too high-Unheard brands are listed at 300 to 400$(USD).while u can get a designer brand with swaroski crystals at 300$ at lenscrafters.\r \r Had a very bad experience.Felt like we were trapped since there is no refund.Horrible!!!\r Pros: haha nothing Cons: 1)Frames Collection-Horrible,2)Customer Service-Very Bad more

Very poor service 6/4/2009

This applies to the 78th and Third store.\r The customer service is not what it should be. The people there, though I am sure they meant well, cannot always deliver what they said. Pros: good display of glasses Cons: poor customer service more

Excellent selection and service 10/30/2008

I have been looking for the right pair of sunglasses for months and the rep at Cohen's recommended several great pairs for me to consider. The rep really knew from my facial feature what would look good on me and I actually really liked her recommendations I finally decided on a pair white Gucci frame but after trying them for 3 days, I decided that I wanted to exchanged them for something else. When I brought frame back to the store, my rep gave me no problem at all and the exchange was exceptionally seamless. \r \r With their vast selection and amazing return policies, I highly recommend cohen for all your optical needs. Pros: Selection and service more

Cohen's Fashion Optical 10/29/2008

When I first dealt with this establishment, I was impressed with the friendliness and attention received by the staff, especially the manager. However, after purchasing two pairs of eyeglasses in April 2008, just 6 months ago, one of the pairs fell apart. The frames cracked and the color of the frames was fading.\r As a result of the frames cracking, the lens fell out of the eyeglasses and landed on the floor. It cracked (it was plastic, not glass so that's not an easy thing to do). I called the store before going there, explained the problem, and was told not to worry they would take care of it.\r When I got there, the same manager looked at the glasses. She intimated that we had done something to them. Her option for correcting the problem was to give me a new pair of frames, but she had none that the lenses would fit, so it would cost me around $130. I told her this was unreasonable since it was not our fault the frames cracked and the lens came out. I explained they were used by an adult who has worn glasses for over 40 years and knows how to take care of them. He is not a child that might have sat on them or something. She firmly said other than getting completely new glasses, this was my choice. She said the lenses should be changed to ones that are thinner and resist cracks, etc. I suggested that due to time limits and that I don't want to pay $130 for something that was not my fault, that she simply put the lenses (even though they are cracked in the corner) in an identical frame. That way, she had no work to do, my husband would have glasses so he could see and it wouldn't cost her anything. She then got very nasty, told me she didn't have ANY frames that would fit the lenses. She walked away, started to wait on other customers, take calls, etc. while I was standing there and all she kept saying to me was that she gave me 2 options and it's my decision now. I feel Cohen's should stand by their work. I will be contacting other authorities. more

Great customer service and Great deals 3/27/2008

I had to get glasses for a while. I went in and the store was great. It had a large selection of frames and the customer service was great. It was a real friendly atmosphere. I got a great deal and was surprised they were able to have my glasses made in less than an hour. I went back to work and told all my co-workers about the store. I am so happy with my glasses and sunglasses. I'm a customer and won't go anywhere else. Pros: great customer service, great selection of frames and quick turnaround time more

Bad quality and no refund on poor quality lenses 3/10/2008

Pushy and aggressive staff greet you and force you into quick decisions and expensive frames. They got my prescription wrong, my glasses were blurry, and they wouldn't even give me a refund. Stay clear of this place, unless you have $$$ you want to lose. I am actively discouraging everyone I know from going to Cohen's Fashion Optical. Cons: poor quality, does not offer refunds on shoddy work more

Got my glasses in a hurry! 2/6/2007

I need to get eyeglasses in a hurry, I had a date and left my eyeglasses in my apartment, on the way I stopped in this Cohen's and the staff helped me out, the girl behind the counter helped me find the glasses that made me look my best and also glasses for a good price. They helped me make a good impression that day and I am grateful for it! more
