When I first dealt with this establishment, I was impressed with the friendliness and attention received by the staff, especially the manager. However, after purchasing two pairs of eyeglasses in April 2008, just 6 months ago, one of the pairs fell apart. The frames cracked and the color of the frames was fading.\r
As a result of the frames cracking, the lens fell out of the eyeglasses and landed on the floor. It cracked (it was plastic, not glass so that's not an easy thing to do). I called the store before going there, explained the problem, and was told not to worry they would take care of it.\r
When I got there, the same manager looked at the glasses. She intimated that we had done something to them. Her option for correcting the problem was to give me a new pair of frames, but she had none that the lenses would fit, so it would cost me around $130. I told her this was unreasonable since it was not our fault the frames cracked and the lens came out. I explained they were used by an adult who has worn glasses for over 40 years and knows how to take care of them. He is not a child that might have sat on them or something. She firmly said other than getting completely new glasses, this was my choice. She said the lenses should be changed to ones that are thinner and resist cracks, etc. I suggested that due to time limits and that I don't want to pay $130 for something that was not my fault, that she simply put the lenses (even though they are cracked in the corner) in an identical frame. That way, she had no work to do, my husband would have glasses so he could see and it wouldn't cost her anything. She then got very nasty, told me she didn't have ANY frames that would fit the lenses. She walked away, started to wait on other customers, take calls, etc. while I was standing there and all she kept saying to me was that she gave me 2 options and it's my decision now. I feel Cohen's should stand by their work. I will be contacting other authorities.
