Go See Fo Yo Self !!! 9/19/2010

Was just in New Orleans on a vacation from 9/11 thru 9/16. This is my fourth trip to NOLA and I really had a great time. I love the city and the people. For weeks prior to my vacation I had been scouring the internet getting recommendations on what to do and see and EAT! Everything I had heard about THE CLOVER GRILL was ""thumbs up"".....so I had to go see! I AM GLAD I DID. My room mate and I made our 100th trip to Bourbon Street (LOL) It was late and we we're hungry so we ventured into the Clover Grill.....looked just like the kind of place I love to go to.....I ordered the traditional burger with chedder cheese, mayo, etc and Dusty ordered a ham and cheese sandwich. By the way, we were waited on almost the moment we sat down by a very nice and courteous gentleman. Sorry about other people's luck who have said otherwise! (just thought I would throw that in...) Anyway our food arrived and it was wonderful. My burger was hot, juicy, flavorful ! The fries were perfect and there were a lot of them. Good, hot, food and plenty of it. We had a great time during our visit. Carried on conversation with the staff and people sitting at the counter. Colorful personalities abounded with great things to share. We just felt at home and we will sure go back back to the Clover Grill when we head to the wonderful city of New Orleans. Signed 2 guys from Ohio ! more

Worst Service in the City (from a local) 4/12/2010

I'm a local, having moved back to the city after growing up here, going away to college, having a working life and career. Been back about six months. Live one and a half blocks away in the French Quarter. Usually went into Clover Grill once or twice a week for take out. Spent over $20 each time (for one). Cons: Service, Service, Service more

Good food, good service 11/25/2008

I loved this place. Just wanted a good burger that didnt break me. My husband & I stopped in & loved it. Our little waiter was great & the food was so good we went back the next morning for breakfast & that was great too. Ignor the bad reviews. Some people think they should get a 5 star restaurant for nothing. Not everyone will be happy with this. I saw several people get up & walk out when they realized colorful the place was. Stupid, ignorant people. Try it. You'll love it. Can't wait to go back. Pros: great food at good price more

yummmmmmmmy 2/22/2008

The folks down the street at HeadQuarters Hair Salon told us to go here for burgers and we loved it. It was great to go to New Orleans and get great , fun service at these 2 places and we went back for breakfast . they make the best breakfast around and for a very good price. I found the prices in New Orleans very cheap and the people friendly. Pros: very good price and yummy food more

great burger 8/10/2006

great burger and onion rings. 13 bucks with a coke a little pricey but worth it.I will return to try Pros: fast service, good food Cons: small, smokey more

Overrated 8/2/2006

I'm with Harry! It would take magic to get this place back to it's former self. Years ago it was a good place to get some late night, or early morning, eats, but those days are gone. The service is rude and the food is lousy. They are definitely living off of past reputations. If you don't believe me, just go waste your money and find out for yourself. more

RUDE SERVICE, MISGUIDING MENU, ""IN & OUT"" SCAM, NO SEATING & LONG WAIT: 7/21/2006

First of all, anyone who gives the Clover Grill a good review has got to be an employee. Pros: It's 24 hours. Cons: Worst Service Ever, Exessively Loud "Diva Music", And your total bill ends up to be twice as much as you expected. more

Just what the Bourbon Ordered 12/27/2005

This place was great! Very small and quite not what you would expect in New Orleans. Food was good and service was really nice. Has a scary bathroom in the alley but that just added to our experiences there! Definitly go late night after you spent all night at Utopia or Red Rhino. Pros: Off the Beaten Path, Great Food, Fast Service more

Ckicken-Fried Steak w/side of gravy 7/21/2005

Get the chicken fried on a toasted bun, dressed and with a side of gravy. Delicious. Makes you want to slap your---, well you can figure out the rest. My good o'le New Orleans, it's the best. more

It's All About the Ambience 6/23/2004

Just a warning to the health nuts: Earl, the head cook, likes to drench everything in butter. My grits were literally swimming in it. But that guy is a born stand-up comedian. He can entertain all of his customers even if he sometimes comes across as a Southern Don Rickles. I will bet that when you leave the Clover you'll have one big grin slapped across your goofy mug. Pros: very informal, lots of bantering, easy to find Cons: , seats about 20-25, close quarters more

Something different 2/18/2004

If you get tired of the wonderful creole and cajun food and start craving a good old hamburger or a home style breakfast this is the very best place to go in the Quarter. The food is good, the value is great, and the staff are fun. It is a real New Orleans experience. If you go once you'll be back! Pros: value, fun atmosphere more

Wow! 12/11/2003

My family ate at Clover Grill on a recent vacation, and it became one of the most memorable moments of our entire trip! Everyone was incredibly delightful, the food was amazing, and it was a really fun place to go! more

worst expensive breakfast I ever had 9/2/2003

I got undercooked hash browns, cold toast, coffee, two scrawny strips of bacon, store bought OJ and scrambled eggs for $9.00. This place is awful. The only redeeming quality is the entertainment provided by the queens with attitude behind the counter but even that wears thin when you've waited 20 minutes to get your food. I would never return to this awful diner. Pros: queens with attitude Cons: expensive, undercooked hash brow, rude service more

The best burger in town 2/7/2003

The clover Grill should be made a modern-day New Orleans landmark. Their signature burger, grilled under a hubcap, is not only the best burger in town, but the cheapest as well. The staff is always upbeat, and sassy. adn the best thing is that it's open 24 hours. Pros: Very inexpensive, great food, wonderful service more

Bugers to Sober Up By 1/5/2003

My kids, all 6 of them as soon as they get to New Orleans have to go to Clover Grill immediately to eat a burger and see the GREAT EARL. Pros: cheap, excellent staf, Brad, EARL, Durrell,, Warren, JT, Eloy Cons: owned by Tom Woods more

Serving burgers with attitude! 1/2/2003

I find the Clover Grill one of my highlight dining places when in the Quarter. Especially when you can go in there and run into friends you haven't seen in a while. I will always love there burgers! Pros: accessable, welcoming, entertaining more

1/2 lb of luv between 2 buns 1/2/2003

If you want to experience a true ""diner burger"" then you need to add Clover Grill to your list of haunts while in the Big Easy! There is something special about having 100% ground beef cooked under an old Ford hubcap! And if the burgers aren't enough to keep you occupied while your there, then the staff adds the perfect touch to the mix. I've been in there at 10 a.m. and 3 a.m. and a few other hours of the day, and the staff is always upbeat and friendly. I have only found two place in the Quarter that are worth bragging about and Clover grill tops the list. Great food anytime of the day or night, Friendly service and reasonable prices! What more could a happy drunk ask for! more

Hubcap heaven 1/2/2003

Late night, good, greasy, help-you-to-sobe-up, hamburgers served with attitude and grilled onios, if you request. French fries to die for. And breakfast at 3:00 am just like in my college days. Pros: Fun, Friendly, Funky Cons: Tight, Tiny, Tempermental more

Truly The Best Food In New Orleans 1/2/2003

I go to the Clover Grill everytime I come down the the French Quarter. The staff are always comical and keep the restaurant laughing. I never know what to expect when I come in to eat! Keep up the good work guys and gals!! Pros: Great Food, Easy to get to Cons: Where is the bathroom more

Earl's Burgers 1/2/2003
