Overall- not good. Appetizers outstanding. Main courses poorly prepared and deserts were horrible. Pricey and poor service to boot.\r more

Great Chophouse! 10/31/2010

This is one of the best in Cleveland. The Chophouse offers up a great atmosphere in the bar area with a very nice ice bar. The service is always outstanding at this well managed location. The servers offer a friendly attitude with a desire to please. I highly recommend their standard offerings of steaks but also suggest the Tuna Chop which is outstanding. more

a new favorite 1/9/2010

My first time and a B'day celebration - this was a fabulous place - waitress Jen was really great - friendly accommodating...atmosphere perfect for an intimate setting. and the Mussels are a MUST - absolutely some of the very best we have ever had. Only one person had a dry filet and the martinis and bloodymary's were over $10 each - only downside. Keep in mind...but we will be back, one of our new favorite eating spots in downtown Cleveland Pros: Excellent Service and fabulous atmosphere Cons: filet was a bit dry and martinis /bloody mary's expensive more

Favorite happy hour 5/18/2009

This is my favorite place in Cleveland for happy hour. You get $3 tall mugs of their own beer and their apps are half price. Two people can share the chicken fingers.\r \r Dinner on the other hand can be quite pricey and the food isn't always the best. I came here for Cleveland Restaurant Week and I was disappointed. The food wasn't that good and it would have been cheaper to just order off the menu. But, that's why I only go for happy hour now. Pros: great happy hour menu Cons: pricey for dinner more

It puts a smile on my face 11/14/2008

The first time i have ever gone to Cleveland Chop house, i was skeptical as i can never seem to find that ""perfect steak"". i ordered the filet, with the wild turkey wiskey sauce, med rare. WOW. i took one bite and i couldnt help but smile. Others have tried to get me to go to other places, mortons, jonnies etc, but i cant. if im going downtown for a steak, im going to the cleveland chop house. Nothing can compare. Pros: everything. Cons: they wont deliver. hahahaha more

Not worth the money 7/5/2008

For a place that is all about their overpriced steaks, both my date and I were extrememly dissapointed at the meal quality. We both ordered two steaks and they were awful. They were extremly dry and hard to eat. They had no flavor at all. The only upside to this place is the atmosphere. Pros: nice area of town, nice atmosphere Cons: bad food, very expensive more

Excellent Sunday Brunch Service 5/19/2008

I made reservations originally for 4 people for a Sunday brunch. The host on the phone was friendly. I called back a week later to enlarge the party to 7. The host wasn't sure if we could be comfortably accommodated and called me back immediately after speaking with a manager. I appreciated her taking the time to do that. Overall, the Sunday brunch buffet was great. Plenty of options to choose from but not too many that the quality of food suffered. Our group had no complaints. Our server was friendly, efficient and very accommodating. Pros: Great service, good brunch options more

Great happy hour specials 6/16/2007

I was happy with my experience. Went for dinner but it turned out to be happy hour so we sat at the bar for the specials. I'm surprised it wasn't crowded because all the appetizers were half off. Great food. Plenty to share. Martini's were $5 and VERY good. I will definitely be returning. more

Outstanding Restaurant in Cleveland 9/8/2006

Ladies and gentlemen this is by far one of the best restaurants in our fair city. My wife and I along with another couple had a tremendous meal last week. One of those meals that you want to take a long walk after. say like to the Indiana state line and back. The strip steak was tender and flavorful. The tuna chop was as good as pier 66 in San Fran. Do yourself a favor and partake in the appetizer sampler. The menu says it feeds four. More like 6. Try the Keylime as a freshing finish. The new 180 bottle wine list is easily one of the best in the area and the brews are better then Greatlakes. The ice bar is cool. Service is friendly, efficient and engaging. In today's competive restaurant market one really needs to seek some value. The Chophouse provides just that with large portions and generious drinks. The music is awesome. Pros: The food is great Cons: the dining in the middle area is a little loud more

Not at all worth the price. 8/25/2006

My husband and I went to the Cleveland Chophouse for my birthday on a friday night. He had shrimp cocktail and I had the spinach and artichoke appetizer. The spinach and artichoke was terrible. It was very bland and served with pillow like bread triangles. For dinner my husband ordered the peppercorn steak and I ordered the shrimp scampi. Both of our meals were just mediocre. Service was very good though and the cornbread was delicious. The bill came to $75 before the tip and that's with no drinks. I won't go back to the Chophouse again. more

Excellent food and service! 11/28/2005

Had reservations for 8 and only 3 showed thus greatly reducing the waiters tip, he remained professional and accommadating. We all ordered steak and lobster tail, the food was superb and we are planning to return soon! Yes we left a large tip. Pros: atmosphere, great food, good parking more

Best of the Warehouse District 9/13/2005

I had a great meal and a great experience at the Cleveland Chophouse. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Try their microbrews, they are excellent and the bar has an ice rail which was ""cool"". Pros: Food, Staff more

Red Meat is King 5/1/2005

Had the peppercorn NY Strip with a monstrous helping of garlic mashed potatoes. The food was fabulous, the cornbread covered in melted butter, the asparagus, portabello mushroom caps were all just incredible. We ordered some IPA's which were ok, and the Cabernet and Single Malt were top notch. Pros: steaks, wine, single malts more

Great Steaks 4/18/2005

I chose the chop house for my birthday and the food was great! Spinach and artichoke dip was piping hot and delicious. We each had a salad that was out of this world. The steaks are huge along with the 4 cups of mashed potato served with the steak! The only disappointment was the complimentary ""brownie"" and ice cream they gave me for my birthday. The brownie had absolutely no taste and was dry as a bone. Perhaps if they would have brought the dessert menu, they could have made a few extra bucks. I would definately recommend them to anyone craving a huge steak! The micro-brewed beers are also highly recommended! Pros: Steak, Microbrewed Beer, Side Dishes Cons: Dessert more

What happened to my first review? 10/27/2004

Someone has a vedetta against the chophouse because I previously gave this establishment a glowing review. To summarize what was said before, it was an awesome experience. We (My date and I) went to the restaurant late on a friday night in Septemeber 2004. We arrived at 10:30 and had virtually NO wait. Our waiter was very attentive and our food was great. My date had a steak covered in crumbled blue cheese, and I had shrimp scampi. The sweet cornbread is to die for. We spent about $70 for the two of us and that included alcoholic drinks. Please don't let a few negative reviews stop you from trying this wonderful restaurant. You'll be missing out on a treat! more

Dont Waste Your Time 12/24/2002

Went to the Chop House for my birthday and was VERY dissapointed. Our server was quite unpleasant. She did not even know what was on their salads as far as types of lettuce, cheese or available dressings. I ordered the bacon wrapped fillet mignon. 1 slice of 7 hour old reheated bacon around a very tough piece of meat. When inquiring as to if that food was standard, she gave me the answer of "" Well you get what ya pay for."" Pass this one up!! Ponderosa is better!! Pros: Downtown, Decor Cons: Food, Service, Overall atmosphere more

Warehouse District Wonder 11/27/2002

Exposed brick and warehouse atmosphere invite a family friendly yuppie crowd to this easy to find hard to park location. The steaks are cut thick, seasoned properly and served with the best white cheddar garlic mashed potatoes east of Vegas. Sunday brunch has a wonderful selection of made to order omlettes & waffles along with carved beef, turkey and ham and specialties like mussles and Clevelands best dessert selection. Not cheap, but well worth it. Also has microbrewed on premise beer selection that is good, but not up to par with Great Lakes Brewing Company (but no one else is either). A must try. Pros: thick aged steaks, mashed potatoes, desserts & brunch Cons: no cheap parking, possible table wait, not cheap more

Great Steaks, Decent Brews 6/10/2002

This may not have been the best steak I ever had, but it was the best one in recent memory. The portion was huge, although some of it was fat. Still, the taste was superb. As for the brews, they have a selection of about 5, with a seasonal that rotates. I really liked the American Pale Ale. We were there on a weeknight so they were not too busy, and the service was good. Overall, if you want a great steak and a good ale to go with it, check this place out. Pros: Good steak, Beer selection Cons: Expensive more
