You can feel good taking your pets here 5/2/2012

I highly recommend Clairmont Animal Hospital and specifically, Dr. Hiro Iwamoto. Dr. Hiro (that's what we call him) is extremely caring, recommends reasonable tests, keeping finances in mind, and gives your pet amazing care. The Technicians at Clairmont are also very well trained and knowledgeable, as well as personable and compassionate. Finally, Clairmont is open 7 days a week, and the Drs. and Staff do not leave at night until they have done all they need to do for your pet. Pros: null Cons: null more

Terrible 11/2/2010

I have been to Clairmont hospital on a number of occassions, most of which were mediocre (take my pet and give them shots, ask for money, then leave) Then, I had a terrible experience with a vet there, and I am still in the process of disputing a bill with them. They are very unhelpful, expensive, and careless about procedures. \r Go to a different vet, you will be surprised what great service you can get elsewhere. I was. more

Clairmont Animal Hospital is a Life Saver 8/19/2009

Our 16 year old cat, Cuji, ate a small animal and could not pass all of the bones. We had to go out of town on an emergency and had to drop her off at Clairmont Animal Hospital. While there she became worse and required surgery. She had to be taken to an emergency 24hr clinic. The Vet Tech took her there and she had the surgery and brought her back to CAH. All of this was done while we were out of town and somewhat helpless. Cuji is now home and quite healthy and wears a bell on her collar from now on. I think that the effort that the Doctors and Staff at CAH took to care for Cuji and went out of their way to ensure that she received the best care possible was outstanding. They called and updated me at every chance and saved our now 17 year old's life. I definitely would recommend Clairmont Animal Hospital to all responsible pet owners. more

Two paws up 12/29/2008

I can tell they really care about my dog. The vets always explain very clearly what I need to do when I take him home after surgery, etc. That's not always the case with other animal docs. Pros: Great care Cons: a bit pricey more

Emory Animal Hospital Rocks! 11/28/2008

They have saved me money at every turn and have been exceedingly accommodating to my pet's needs. As far as the last comment is concerned- I'm glad you found another vet, because I don't want your rabid cat to bite me while I'm waiting for my appointment. I hope you were apologetic to the person your cat bit- sounds like you weren't. more

Dr. Kelly Crawford is amazing 8/8/2008

We have a nine-year-old boxer who was a rescue named Val. The day after our honeymoon we found a lump on her that turned out to be a mast cell tumor. A friend told me to go to Emory and I'm so glad we did. Dr. Crawford immediately took Val into surgery and removed the tumor on her leg. The surgery went beautifully and Dr. Crawford had such a great manner not only with Val but with my husband and I as well. She was knowledgeable and explains things well. We then took our dog to an oncologist just to get a specialist's opinion on further treatment, and the oncologist complimented how well Dr. Crawford did on the tumor removal with words like "It really looks like they know what they're doing", which totally put my mind at ease. Dr. Crawford was also eager to work with whatever findings the oncologist suggested. She just wanted to provide the best care for Val. Pros: Clean offices, Caring doctors and assistants, Kelly Crawford is amazing Cons: none more

Don't let your pet leave your sight.... 8/7/2008

We took our cat to Emory. Our cat weighs 5 pounds and was getting a fecal sample taken. They took her out of the room for the exam (unusual if you ask me) and then came back and told us that she had bitten the vet tech. We were told she would need to be quarantined because the rabies vaccine (indoor only cat) was 3 weeks expired. We were forced to decide between:\r A. Let Animal Control keep her for 10 days (we were advised against this by several parties), or\r B. Pay Emory Animal Hospital $18 a day to quarantine her, totalling $180.\r \r We ended up paying the $180 and having her gone for 10 days. My wife was torn up over the whole ordeal and we've moved to a different vet now. Needless to say, we would not recommend Emory after how they handled it all. Our cat has never bitten any other person or even reacted aggressively. If Emory can't avoid a bite from a 5 pound animal and/or aren't prepared for a reaction when performing a rectal exam, that is unacceptable. And then for u more

Variable quality of care 5/31/2008

nice practice... but I found some doctors to be better than others. Katz seemed kind and caring with my cat, but there was another vet who contradicted herself and left me confused more

Best Vet in Atlanta 3/10/2008

Dr. Smith is absolutely wonderful! He and his staff are the best and always remember my little Boston Terrier when I bring her in. Not only do they remember her - they come out in the lobby just to say "hi" no matter what we are in for. We Love Dr. Smith - but I would also say that there are several other doctors in the practice who are also great if you can't get in to see Dr. Smith (who has a very limited schedule). He has done throat surgery on our dog, and gave complete estimate before the surgery - called me just after the surgery to let me know how it went, and then called again when the puppy woke up. Frankly, I wish I could find a people doctor who was half as good as Dr. Smith. My sister has 3 dogs and they all go to Dr. Smith - and have had the same experience. Pros: big staff - open 7 days, caring, very highly trained and experienced Cons: very popular, sometimes there is a small wait. more

Excellent service and caring staff 9/29/2007

The staff and Dr. Prather are always very nice and they always seem genuinely concerned if there is anything wrong with one of my cats, and they all seem to be very caring about animals in general. more

Exceptional Care 9/16/2006

I've owned kitties for over 25 years so I've kind of seen it all in terms of health problems and how vets deal with them. The group at Clairmont is without a doubt the most knowledgeable and kindest group of people I've ever encountered. The three vets I've talked to, Prather, Katz and George have all been razor sharp. These people know their stuff. They are aggressive in their treatment but at the same time very sensitive to the age of the cat, the wishes of the owner and the cost. I really can't say enough nice things. The front desk staff is also exceptionally kind and concerned. As recent arrivals to Atlanta, getting a good vet for our two old kitties was high on the list. We feel very fortunate to have found this group. Pros: Caring, Accomodating, Capable Cons: None more

An excellent animal hospital 5/22/2006

The care here is really great - I've been taking my cats here for 6 years. They have a very caring group of 5-6 vets and numerous wonderful technicians. They are very knowledgeable about the latest developments in their field, take a real interest in each pet, and their fees are reasonable - I don't feel taken advantage of. I recommend them without reservation. more

Emory Animal Hopital & Dr.Smith 3/10/2006

I have used Emory Animal Hospital since they opened 16 years ago. I have gotton to know Dr. Smith and the staff and cannot think of any place I would rather have treat my pets. They know that when you have an ill pet that you become a patient as well. They have researched my pets cases as well as found ways to make treatment economical over the years. Dr. Smith has gone out of his way many times to insure that my pets have the best treatment possible and I am eternally grateful.\r \r Mack Norman PROS: Many CONS: None more

Kind Vets & Staff 3/1/2006

I had to make the very tough decision of euthanizing my 15 year old lab mix named Dawson. I recently visited Emory Animal Hospital for a second opinion. They were so kind and compassionate and shared in my pain. Dr. Smith was very understanding and told me he had to make the same decision with his golden retriever. That day I waited no more that 6 minutes to be put in a room. I have made several more visits with my cat, jojo. I have always been able to get in the same day or drop off my cat. I am very happy with Emory Animal Hospital. PROS: kind & caring staff, high-tech equipment CONS: small waiting area- my dog doesn't like other dogs more

Uncaring Staff 1/21/2006

I took my dog to for an emergency bladder surgery. I was not told the cost of the surgery when I dropped her off, but was told by Dr. Smith that he would call and give me an estimate before he started the surgery; however, I wasnt told what the total cost was until after the surgery was completed. It came out to $1,200 plus dollars. The actual surgery was only $500, but I was charged over $700 in other expenses. I paid half the bill($600), but they refused to release my dog, and refused to provide explanation on the additional expenses of the bill. I was told by the receptionist that they were going to keep my dog until I paid, and that she wasn't going to loss her job over this, so there was nothing she was willing to do to help me. Pros: Modern Equipment Cons: Uncaring Staff, No estimate given, Extremely High Rates more
