NEVER CALLED ME BACK 10/12/2009

Our son was sent there to be cremated he passed away as an infant; NO ONE EVER CALLED US. Six weeks later and we still do not have the ashes. I called to see what had happened and they said everything has been done for a while................but NO ONE CALLS TO NOTIFY YOU when the cremation is complete!!!!!!!!!! Cons: they don't call us, very disorganized more

A comforting service. 2/10/2009

My uncle Bill passed. He had no children of his own so it was left to my family to take care of the funeral arrangements. Uncle Bill did not want to be cremated. Therefore we had to find a place that would allow us to meet my uncle's requests without breaking the bank. The owner of my company told us about Claire Brothers. We called them and Mr. Smith actually met us at our home after work on Tuesday. We went over everything and by Friday morning my Uncle was buried and at rest. The casket was very nice looking, the flowers were pretty, the obituary was in the newspaper. I have been to many funerals. I could not tell you where all the extra money goes. Uncle Bill's funeral was just as nice as any other I have been to. My mother was very pleased with the way everything turned out. She even let a white dove go that represented the soul of my uncle. A friend of mine said he buried his father about 2 months a go at another Houston funeral home and it was over $10,000. I cannot imagine where that extra money went. We had a comforting and beautiful service for a third of that. We were very pleased with the service, the price and the genuine attitude of Kenny, Mr. Smith and Mr Claire. Thank You for not taking advantage of us in a time of need. Pros: affordable, easy to deal with, efficient, caring more

On Dec 2. I contacted Riley Smith about my mother-in-law she had passed away, they came from Houston to pick her up at a local hostpitalm in Orange Texas. I recieved a packet from him on or about the 9th of December about the creamation and price along with papers to sign, we signed the papers sent the payment along with the papers. My wife contacted the funeral home about the obituaries gave the info to a lady over the phone, the obituaries was never printed in the news paper we requested. Then over the period of the next few weeks they would call needing more info that was already giving this happened several times. We kept waiting for the urn and death certificates still no word. My wife contacted them again they told her the Doctor had never signed the death certificate. I myself would call ask for Riley Smith they would take a message and have him contact me back and of course we would not hear from him. Finally I got fed up with this I called him on January 8-2009 over a month since my mother-in-law had passed he told me he was coming to Orange January 9 that he was bringing the urn and death certificates so I took off work and waited all day no phone call, nothing. I called all day on January 12 they told me they would have him call me back finally around 3:00 p.m. he calls and tells me he has somebody going to leave Houston in 20 minutes they were going to bring me the urn and death certificates finally after waiting over a month. So I guess in this situation you get what you paid for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

Caring Staff that provided a beautiful service at a very affordable amount. They were $2,100 less than others. 1/9/2009

My sister passed suddenly due to a automobile accident. We have never planned for a funeral. We started calling around and we met with three funeral homes. The first was very nice, but tried selling us a $8,300 funeral package. We didn't have that kind of money. She still has young children we need to care for. We then visited another funeral home. The funeral director was pushy, it felt like a car salesmen. They did offer a package for $5,700, but my mother and I did not like their aggressive sales techniques. It was more about the money than my sister and our family. A friend heard about my sisters death and recommended Claire Brothers funeral home. We called to set an appointment, and the owner Riley Smith said he would come meet us in our home. This was not offered by the previous two. Mr. Smith met us in our home later that evening, he was quite the opposite of the pushy director from the other funeral home. He asked us what we wanted, instead of telling us what he wanted to sell us. He then gave us options within our price range that worked for us. The service was all that we expected and more. We had flowers, a very nice casket, use of the chapel, a hearse, obituary, a beautiful graveside ceremony. We had everything we wanted for less than 60% of what other funeral homes wanted to charge. If you didn't know, you would have thought we had the deluxe $8,000 package from the first funeral home. At the cemetery, we even had a touching white dove release that was beautiful and helped bring closure for my parents and family. If you have money to throw away. Go see the other guys. If you are looking for a caring, touching and professional service for your loved one for a very reasonable cost, Call Claire Brothers Funeral Home. Pros: Caring, Affordable, Professional Cons: Chapel could be bigger. We had 250+ people, but we didn't expect that many people either. It was a good problem to know she was loved. more

Awesome Service In My Time Of Need.... 9/7/2008

I came to Claire Brothers FH and almost immediately my mind was at ease. The staff there was so so kind to me and my family. Their prices were some of the lowest we found and included alot more than the other Funeral Homes we had called. Everyone from the lady who answered the phone to the funeral director that assisted us was so understanding. The obituary was placed in plenty of time for all of our friends and family to take time off to attend the visitation and funeral. The funeral went without incident and the staff even personally delivered the cremated remains to my home. I live all the way out in Conroe, TX so they had a pretty long drive. I don't understand why anyone would be unhappy with their service. I would recommend them to anyone who has to bear the passing of a relative. Claire Brother's makes the pain a little easier to handle knowing that everything is being taken care of so well. more

Poor Service and no one knows what is going on 5/3/2007

Claire Brothers was hired for my fathers funeral in Dec. 06. The obituary was not ran until the day of the funeral because the person who was handling setting up the services did not know that they had to prepay with the Chronicle. I called the Chronicle myself to find that we were being charged over $300 for an ad that only cost around $125. I had to call Claire Brothers myself to even make sure the ad was ran on the day of the funeral. We overpaid them by accident, which we are still battling to get back. I have been told three times that the check was mailed. Several times I have requested an inovoice of what we paid and have been told that it was mailed. It is now May and I still have not gotten the overpayment back or an invoice. When we arrived at the grave site they were just digging the hole- great sight for greiving family member and grandchildren. I have been told that Ariel, our funeral planner, no longer works there and no one else seems to know anything about what he did. I would not recommend their services to anyone. It's hard enough to lose a family member without having lazy, inconsiderate people doing your planning. Please don't put yourself in the same situation as we did. Cons: No respect, did not do what they were paid to do more
