Not too pleased 10/6/2011

We tried this vet on a recommendation from someone at my husband's work. The office was creatively decorated but not clean at all. I'm all for being artsy, but I do think a medical office needs to be clean. In regards to the actual medical care...the doctors' assistants were friendly, but tried to convince us to do a lot of tests on our cat before we had even met the doctor. The doctor then tried again to get us to do the tests, even though our cat is perfectly healthy. We were disappointed that this office seems to be more devoted to running up the bill than having lasting relationships with their patients. more

Dr. Lund is Terrible! 8/15/2011

We should have read these reviews before we went to City Kitty. We didn't see the other doctor, we saw Dr. Lund and she was terrible. Like others have already said, she tried to talk us into doing lots of tests on our cat and made us feel bad when we didn't do them. For the record our cat was not sick, just there for a check up. We already made an appointment for our other cat somewhere else, and have no intention of seeing this woman again. more

Dr. Mercurio is the BEST - Dr. Lund, not so much! 4/25/2011

If you can go and see Dr. Mercurio, it may be worth your while to visit City Kitty in Providence with your cats. However, after a few years of taking our cats to City-Kitty we have been finally called it quits simply due to the fact that we can no longer deal with the owner/Dr. Lund. She does not listen, she seems to care more about being in charge and what she can charge your for then actually taking care of your cat. We had a few dealings with her over the past years, but the last time was enough for us. Sad to say we are no longer taking our cats to City-Kitty. It's a shame, too because the staff are great and so is Dr. Mercurio. more

too expensive and manipulative 1/12/2011

I initially went to City Kitty due to : reviews and they are only cats. However- their prices are thru the roof AND they try to ""convince"" you to get every single test for your cat. Literally every test. Why do I need a feline AIDS test? Anyway- when I chose to not opt for every test(which is reasonable) I got raised eyebrows. each test I opted out of I got a look like I was killing my cat. It felt very manipulative and not understanding that I am not a rich kitty owner who wants to blow $500 at the vet. My cat is healthy and fine, and so is my wallet. more

Expensive is right! 10/5/2010

I completely agree with the last review, I have been a client there for many years mainly because i dont like exposing my cats to dogs barking in a waiting room. The car ride and the visit is stressful enough for them. more

City Kitty.. VERY expensive! outrageous $600.00 infection 6/15/2010

My daughter's Ragdoll was brought to City Kitty with a fever. I have a Himalayan cat that was a patient at City Kitty, but never had to take the cat there for any treatment, so I had NO idea the prices City Kitty charged. The vet at City Kitty began to take x-rays, blood work and numerous tests. When asked if the x-rays were necessary, the vet became very defensive and condescending. She made her feel guilty so she agreed to the tests they advised her to have done. After the 2 x-rays, blood work, 2 shots, and a $550.00 charge on her visa, my daughter was sent home with the cat. The next day, City Kitty called with the results of the blood work-INFECTION! (which is what I had told her before she went to the vet). She was told to stop by and pick up the medication and food- WHICH SHE WAS ALSO CHARGED FOR! There are many great vets in Rhode Island and all 3 of our cats will be new patients at one of them! Cons: Very expensive, Unneeded treatment, Arrogant, Intimidating more

Reputable and Great Place for Your Pet 11/1/2009

For years I've been partial to my cat attending a cat only veterinarian. Not only as he reached the older years but because with experiences, I've learned as a person, if I had a tooth issue I wouldn't go to a foot doctor. It's the same with cats, they are a different type of animal with different needs and at Citty Kitty they understand that. They're also wild about cats so although no, my cat would rather not see the vet, when he does, they're efficient, quick, knowledgable and he's less irritated for it. If you're as particular about your pet's care not only for the long term investment in their health which equates to your wallet and both yours and their states of mind, I'd go here hand's down. More importantly Dr. Lund, the lead Veterinarian and owner is simply great at what she does and you can tell that at once. I'm pretty protective of my pet's care so my being won over is no easy task and they're available and wonderful in explaining any questions you have or concerns. It's common for Dr. Lund to call me with routine test results if she senses my unease or even just that she knows how much I love my boy. I'd recommend them highly and went through nearly two vets when I first moved to Rhode Island before finding them. Don't be fooled that they are costly because they specialize in cats, they're not. The are often more reasonable becuase they get it right and as a main, their prices cost no more than any other vet. Pros: Skilled Doctors and Staff, Reasonable Prices Cons: Not Open on Saturdays-Oh Well Can't Have It All! more

Different vet? 9/30/2009

My girlfriend and I recently moved to Rhode Island, and brought our cat here based on the great reviews. After going, we're wondering if there was a different vet there when those reviews were written than there is now, because we thought this place was awful. The vet (a woman whose name I can't remember) was condescending and did not seem interested in our input at all. She tried to bully us into doing expensive tests when there wasn't even anything wrong with our cat (we were there for shots.) After we decided not to do the bloodtests, she acted like we were being negligent and uncaring. The staff was ok, certainly nothing great. I doubt we'll go back here. It seems like the only thing this vet is interested in is money. more

Perfect place for a spoiled cat! 8/18/2006

we love Dr. Lund. Our cat has been going to City Kitty since we moved to Rhode Island, and she has always taken great care of her. I wish my own doctors were so kind and good! City Kitty is the best place to take your cat, especially if your cat is spoiled like ours. more

Just switched to City Kitty 5/27/2006

I saw City Kitty on a news segment recently. I never knew there was a vet who saw cats only in Providence. I hadn't been happy with the vet I was seeing and called to make an appointment. What a good move on my part! This vets office is wonderful. The doctor was gentle with my cat and helped me understand everything about his problem. The office is definately different from any other vets I've been to. There's no medicine-y smell to it and it's decorated in a very neat and non-clinical way. I am really happy with City Kitty and recommend it highly to anyone who wants the best vet care for their cat. Pros: Smart doctor, Neat office, Nice assistants Cons: Not open on Saturday, Not easy to locate more

The best vet I've ever had!! 5/23/2006

We love having Dr. Lund as our vet. She is a great doctor, and a really cool person, too. The staff at City Kitty is also great-really friendly and knowledgeable. Both my husband and I love that City Kitty is a feline vet practice-no barking dogs to scare our guys! Our cats have been so much more relaxed about going to the vet since we started going to Dr. Lund, and we would never go anywhere else. Pros: Great doctor!, Great staff!, No barking dogs! Cons: Hard to find at first more
