Best

On Cipriani I am only going to say one thing : A real piece of Italy people save some money and go eat there because Real Italian style doesn't get any better then this

Worst

Nothing is worse than paid so much for such a horrible service where the waiter is almost forcing you to order when you want to sit/relax/have a glass of a f* expensive wine - no,...

smallest portion in the city 5/11/2004

My wife and I went here for lunch. We both ordered pasta dishes ($21.50 each). They arrived on salad plates (5 inch diameter) which were only half full. I ordered canelloni and received four cigarette sized pieces of pasta and nothing else! My wife ordered a pasta bake and received some pasta noodles drenched in some fatty bland tasting cheese. It was so laden with oil she was unable to eat it. I have no problem dropping $80 for lunch (including 2 drinks) but I expect to receive a plate full of food!!! Cons: , over priced, bland more

This place is a ""scene"", but why? 2/1/2004

Tables are crammed in there, so that they all touch. Many diners ""trapped"" in seats against the wall. If someone needs to use the bathroom, everyone must get up, so that table can be pulled out, freeing them to leave confines of their seat! No felt on bottom of the chair legs, so all night you heard chairs scraping on floor. Linens were of cheap fabric. As night (Friday) progressed, noise level got worse. Prosciutto was excellent, melted in mouth, but very costly at $18!! Veal ravioli was very good. However, my chicken dish was just chunks of meat, some very fatty, just thrown on a plate (although flavor of dish was pretty good). Overall, very poor presentation in all the dishes. As we left, restaurant and bar were packed. This place is clearly a ""scene"", but if you're a true ""foodie"", or want a nice dining experience, go elsewhere. Cons: , poor presentation , cramped seating more

be a barone for an hour 10/28/2003

Sure, the staff doesn't thank you for comnig, - they're far too crowded for that. But the're quick, the food is good and well prepared, they're attentive in refilling your glass, and the environment is dynamic, cosmopolite and informal in a stylish way. Pros: quick personell, dynamic atmosphere Cons: rather pricey more

One of my top choices in the city 1/30/2003

I have been going to Downtown Cipriani's for over 5 years and have never had a bad meal. The food is top notch and that is not even the best aspect of the restaurant. It is a great scene and is the place to see and be seen. more
