Bad food that only gets worse! 5/19/2012

I am amazed that this place stays open. I had not been for several years---too many other good places to go. However, a friend wanted to go to today, so I did. Bad choice. My friend ordered sweet and sour pork; the pork was inedible. It was so tough she could neither chew it nor break it apart. Someone (not our waitress whose attitude was completely unnecessary) brought my friend chow mein, which was not good. However, she could chew it! I had the kung pao tofu, which was quite bland. Most of the staff was quite nice, but the food was horrible. I will not go back, even if George Clooney wants to take me (don't have to worry about that!) more

Looking for Great Chinese Food in Nashville? 9/3/2011

My family has been dining at Chinatown since the 1990s. We eat there at least once a month. The food is always delicious--fresh ingredients and fantastic taste. The best hot and sour soup and egg rolls I have ever eaten. All meal items are reasonably priced. I don""t know what I enjoy most: the food or the staff. Everyone there is so friendly and they seem genuinely happy to see returning customers. Recent changes to the restaurant's decor have created a calming, relaxing atmosphere. more

Best Chinese Food in Nashville 8/31/2011

china Town has been the around since the 1980's and i had ate there since I was a little kid. The food at china town is always good and fresh. This is the only chinese restaurant I get my chinese craving for the last 30 years. Our entirely family eat here at least a couple time a week. Recent dining room re-decoration enhance the place a lot. The people there are extremely friendly and always provide great service. My family favorite is the sesame chicken. more

Really Good Chinese Food 6/15/2011

Very Good. Great service, priced correctly. I thought it was perfect fix for my random craving of Chinese Food more

I drive 35 miles to eat here 1/9/2010

I drive 35 miles to eat at ChinaTown, my old boss turned me on to this wonderful chinese resturant. I have been going here since 1999. Always great service, wonderful portions and super atmosphere\r \r I will be going here for many years to come. Pros: Everything Cons: Parking more

Best Chinese Food 1/20/2009

I lived in New York City for 13 years and have been living in San Francisco for nearly 18 years, and I've had all kinds of good and bad Chinese restaurant food over the years... was really floored by how good this place was. Best hot & sour soup I've had since a miserably cold and rainy day about 20 years ago in New York Chinatown. Three entrees ordered here have all been excellent... crisp, fresh broccoli, tender chicken, flavorful shrimp. All perfectly prepared. Will be a regular patron here for as long as I'm in Nashville. Pros: Best Chinese restaurant food ever; good, efficient service, decent wine list, excellent value more

Gets it Right-No matter the size of the group!!!! 1/7/2009

So let me paint you this picture. I was trying to figure out what to eat on a Saturday afternoon when I was at work and I needed to place 14 specific picky orders. We were all very nervous about how the food would be and even more about whether this place could get this size order correct. Well, let me just tell you that the food was incredible, the service was promt, and the orders were all perfectly filled. It was an amazing Chinese experience and our whole floor of nurses vowed never to order from any other place. I would recommend it with the highest regard. Do yourself a favor and try this place!!!!!!! Pros: LOTS Cons: NONE more

Best Chinese in Nashville 1/2/2009

Whether you have a little time or a lot of time this is the place to check out. The food is freshly cooked, the staff is friendly & courteous. Located in upscale Green Hills without the pricey menu. The service is fast! Pros: Fast & reasonable priced Cons: high traffic area more

Not good, not horrible, not going back. 9/4/2008

The atmosphere was bland - a little run down looking, but clean. Food is priced higher than average so I expected it to be better than average. It wasn't. Too salty - an obvious use of MSG (why would anyone still use that in their food?!) which ruined the flavor of what *could* have been a good dinner. The staff was friendly.\r \r As a huge fan of Asian cuisine and a fairly decent cook (thanks to a bookshelf full of Asian cookbooks) I have to say I was disappointed with Chinatown Restaurant. Nashville is swamped with bad Chinese food - while Chinatown isn't the worst it is mediocre.\r \r For the money you're better off going to P.F. Changs, Mings or PeiWei. Pros: Quick service, decent kids meal - though limited options. Cons: Quick service?, flavor, price more

La Choy would be better! 1/26/2008

Being in Airline management I have had an opportunity to try Chinese food in many places and I was very disappointed with the food. Too sweet, salty, oily and fatty. I tried the duck and it was served in less than 5 minutes! - A very bad sign. It lived up to my worries. It was probably made a week earlier. Also the other dishes were pretty bad. more

Best Chinese Food In the Nashville Area. 2/2/2007

The overall experience at Chinatown was excellent. We were seated pretty quickly and service was great. The waitress took her time in explaining and recommending the dishes that we were to order. The appetizers were superb, the food even better. It was quite tasty, and very authentic Chinese Cuisine. The children?s portions as well as the regular portions were succulent and exquisite. The price for the whole meal was very adequate. We strongly recommend Chinatown Restaurant. more

Once a great place --- what happened!?!?!? 5/7/2006

I use to look forward to Chinatown Takeout weekly but the service and food has steadily declined. The food is oily and bland now. Oil leaked through the bag twice. The service is descent but slow at times and prices have increased significantly for lower quality service and food. If you plan on take-out look elsewhere this place has lost it's quality. Pros: Nice CS (Somtimes) Cons: crowded, oily food, bland food more

The Night of My Dreams 1/13/2006

When I drove up to the quaint little restaraunt, tucked between two stores, the Donut Den's red lights flashing on my surprised face, I wasn't expecting a lot. The night exceeded my expectations as Evan and I devoured our won-ton soup, delectable spring rolls, and savory sweet and sour chicken. The setting was romantic, a unique Chinese ambiance made me forget all about my problems. At the end of dinner, four little fortune cookies lay decoratively on the reasonable bill. I opened one, and inside of it lay an exquisite canary diamond ring. ""Oh, Evan,"" I exclaimed as he wrapped me in a passionate kiss, although that didn't have anything to do with Chinatown, I adore the restaraunt. Highly reccomended on casual dates! Pros: the ambiance, the unique cuisine, the price Cons: crying babies, slow service, outside appearance more

Chinatown defines the typical Chinese restaurant 10/22/2005

Chinatown is the typical Chinese restaurant -- when I say that I mean the menu is the exact same as any other Chinese restaurant in the world. The service was somewhat slow -- the food was no better than average. How they claim to be one of the best Chinese restaurants in the country baffles me. Pros: Value Cons: Slow service more

Delicious Dining 5/21/2005

I've been eating at Chinatown for many years. The atmosphere is wonderful with its lovely decor, linen tablecloths and cozy booths. The service is always fast and extremely friendly. The food is consistently good and they are very accommodating with any special requests. The hot tea is both delicious and soothing. Prices are quite reasonable. I can always count on an enjoyable dining experience. Pros: Great food, Easy parking, Inexpensive more

I've loved Chinatown for years 5/16/2005

I grew up eating at Chinatown. Not only do they have great chinese food, but for me it is also comfort food. I eat lunch there at least once a week. Their wonton soup is the best that I've ever had. Pros: affordable prices, great food, very friendly staff more

Great Dinner 3/3/2004

I'm a student in Nashville and lower prices are always better when looking to eat out for dinner. Chinatown has always been very good and EXTREMELY fast with their service. Literally, if you only have 30 minutes to eat dinner, you can be in and out of Chinatown in that time. They have a good sweet and sour chicken and fried rice. I've heard about great lo mein as well! I would suggest this for anyone needing a good, quick dinner, anytime! Pros: Good Food, FAST service, kind servers more
