Dr. Alan L. Longfellow and Dr. Mercedes Padilla both the two pediatrician dentists who run this practice are wonderful people.
I was referred to this pediatrician dentist by my personal dentist when I had a horrible experience taking my daughter to a different pediatrician dentist.
Upon walking up to the office there is a small child size door that welcomes the kids into the office. The receptionist's desk is even kid sized to make the kids feel more welcomed. What impressed me about this office was the 2 level playhouse situated in the corner of the waiting room were the kids can play and feel more relaxed before being seen.
There are two seperate area's of which patients are seen at. For routine dental cleaning for mostly the older, kids and those who are "comfortable" coming to the dentist there is an area where there are about 4 or so chairs in a row where the dental hygenists do nothing BUT dental cleanings. For those parents who have their children having cleanings there is a seperate much smaller area for them and other children to wait at. In this waiting area there are magazines, books, and a coloring table.
The other area where patients are seen are the smaller, private rooms. This is where new patients are seen, and kids who may not yet be comfortable being seen by a dentist. This room has a waiting bench built into the wall with a cushion and blankets, teddy bear, and toys and books for the kids to play with during their transistion into the dental chair.
For those patients that will be sedated there is a seperate waiting area for them, which is adjoined to the room where they will be seen. This room is private has a cushioned bench long enough for a kid to lay on. There are blankets and books to read as well as a private bathroom to use. This room is extra cool because there is a tv and vcr player complete with a collection of kid video's. If your child has had to be sedated to complete work, when they are finish with their appointment the hygenist gives the child a "snack" bag, that has soft easy to eat snacks for the child to eat once they get home. The office also gives a courtesy call a few hours after the appointment to make sure the child is doing well.
The hygenists and employees here are very caring and helpful to their patients. Each daughter sees one of the dentists, Dr Allan Longfellow or Dr. Padilla. Both dentists work great with kids. Dr. Longfellow was very gentle with my oldest daughter who had a horrible experience with a totally different dentist, not associated with this pratice and helped her to have a pleasant dental experience in his office. Dr. Padilla was very comforting to my youngest and i was easily comforted to hear her voice change as she spoke with my daughter, haha, my youngest seemed to be mesmerized by her voice.
The Practice has two cute dogs that our daughters enjoy seeing everytime they come to the office. Also I was just mailed an invitation to a "open house" for their patients for the holidays where families can come, mingle and eat a full dinner. I am amazed at the service and quality that this office has shown me.
I have and would continue to recommend The Longfellow Practice, as a pediatric dentist.
