Children's Academy

I have to completely disagree with the negative review of Children's Academy. Yes, the kids occasionally watch tv in the late afternoon when it is time to unwind before parents come to pick them up. However, that is after a day of learning, playing, and spending time on the awesome playgrounds. No school is perfect, however, I know that my child is safe and well taken care of at Children's Academy. As for the Director, I know that she has been at that school for a long time and takes great pride and care in what she does. It is a family owned business and she is part of that family. The school is beautiful and my child really likes attending. I feel that he has learned a lot there and will be well adjusted to go to public school this fall. I will have him back in the summer program next year for sure. more

I started my son in childcare at Children's Academy on Obetz Road last Monday. I checked out the school before he started and the school seemed nice. I paid for one week and the registration fee for a total of $125.00. When I picked up my son in the afternoon from the daycare I was in shock. I walked into his class room and all the lights were out and the kids were watching a movie. I told my son lets go. The teacher in the room didn't know me. She asked if I was the mom and I said yes. That was it, she didn't ask me for any id nothing. She sat back down and went on with what she was doing. My son's glasses were very dirty. I asked him what he did all day and he said they played outside and watched a lot of TV. According to the schedule they have for the kids it never once said watching TV. I was upset that anyone could have walked in and picked up my son from school because the teacher never checked. I called the school when I got home and told them everything. The head front desk lady said she would refund my money. I pick up the refund and it was only for $80.00. The director said that's all she is giving me back and I cant do anything about it. She had a very poor attitude and no customer service.\r \r more

I am so thankful that there is a school on the South Side that I feel completely safe with to leave my children while my husband and I have to work. The office staff is excellent, my kids teachers are young, fun and professional, and the grounds are unbelievable for a school within the city! They even just put in a theatre room and you shoud see the playgrounds!! Also, they serve family style meals for breakfast and lunch, an then a snack. that's great for my family so we do not have to pack lunch. There is also pre-k through 2nd grade offered with tuition help available. they are part of the Ed-Choice program. Even if it was not so convenient to where I live, I would drive a few extra miles just to send my kids to this school. Pros: Beautiful grounds Cons: does not go higher than 2nd grade, but does have before and after school care more
