Like Heaven on Earth 4/9/2007

I've driven pass this place on several occasions as I use to reside in the neighborhood. For some reason I always thought it was a sushi restaurant. I might have though this because of the nondescript glass plating which?s conceals a very white interior. I could also make out what appeared to be a sushi bar. I was wrong. After reading a posting on BOC I decided to check it out. I was left in utter euphoria. This was a dining experience. The deserts were spectacular. The different textures and flavors melted in my mouth. I wasn't very daring... I just tried the cheese cake (which was no ordinary cheese cake, it was as smooth as butter). Yes, the wait was long and well worth it. The seating area is very small. The host is gracious and beyond polite. And to the individual who posted s/he felt the service was rushed because s/he was not allowed to order a second cup of coffee. Heaven is meant to be shared... If you wanted to lounge check out Dunkin Doughnuts or Starbucks Pros: the dessert makes it all worth it Cons: long wait -no reservations accepted more

Nothing short of spectacular - 1st timers: Sit at the bar 4/2/2007

I've been going to ChikaLicious for a couple of years now and can never get enough! Pros: Service, quality, decor, presentation, variety, etc Cons: I wish they had a larger place more

Sweet Little Dessert Bar 4/1/2007

My fiance and I had been trying to experience Chikalicious for over a year but the long line and wait was always a deterrant. We finally waited it out and had a lovely little experience. The staff is friendly and the desserts are really great. That said, I will be honest; it's very expensive for what it isand this is not American (or even French) sized portions by any means. You'll get a taste and it will be a great and expensive one. If you are OK with that, you'll have a great experience. The wine pairing is perfect and the changing menu keeps it fresh. Don't bother with the special...just get the dessert and definitely do the pairing. Go early (before 7:30) to avoid the wait (or on a week night!) Pros: Nice experience, friendly staff, good dessert Cons: Long wait, bright lighting, value more

Going Strong!!! 3/30/2007

I have been coming to this place for 3yrs now, and it never gets old!!!! It is a very tiny place so either come early or be willing to wait the line outside (worth it!!), best if you dont come with a large group....Try scoring a seat at the bar, this will give you the chance to see these masterminds at their best while preparing ur dessert!!! If you have not tried this place, go now!!! Pros: Spectacular Desserts!! Cons: Very small place. more

Worth a visit 12/29/2006

The dessert is uniquely delicious! I had the warm melted chocolate cake which was amazingly good. My best friend had the fromage blanc cheesecake which i recommend bc it's the best I've had in my life. The red wine pairing goes well with the tasteful desserts. The staff was warm, knowledgeable and friendly. Definetly worth a visit if you're in the area. Pros: awesome desserts, friendly staff Cons: very small more

Decadence 11/9/2006

It is a small white room , very simple with rather limited seating. Pros: unique desert experience Cons: expensive more

great service did not make up for their desserts 11/8/2006

first off, the place was tiny and i was cramped up to a corner. the desserts weren't as great as i hoped for. i can't be in a place where the waiter describes their portions as bites--""the marshmallow puff is about 2 bites and the ice cream is 3 bites"".....ive tried the hype and i'm movin on. afterwards, i was craving for veneiros or a nice big cupcake--anything with more than 10 bites..!. our waiter and the pastry chef were really nice tho. Also, I thought the entire place was too bare...nothing special. more

Adorable idea, So-so execution 10/14/2006

Surprisingly crowded on a Sunday night, waited about 25 minutes for three person table. The tiny interior is bright and elegant, but very small. The staff is very cheerful and present every dish with a smile. The desserts themselves aren't that exciting. There were six on the menu and more than half followed this formula: pseudo-innovative ice cream with some kind of cake/tart. The desserts could stand to be more delicious and pizzazzy but the $12 price tag makes it a reasonable one-time adventure. more

Simple dessert place... 9/5/2006

Friendly service, okay desserts. Portions are small and it's wonderful if you're weight conscious. I found the peppercorn icecream to be pleasantly good and quite unique. The wait is always long, and the place is extremely tiny. I would recommend going during the day. They don't take reservations. Pros: service, clean Cons: space more

Great service, tasty!!! 7/12/2006

It was small, but in a relaxing setting. It was very personal, as greetings from the waiters, and personal farewells. The portions were very small, but the desserts taste wonderful. Not too pricy, nice to go after a play or a walk in the city. more

Big dissapointment 7/9/2006

I was attracted to the concept, but this dessert bar tuned out to be a big dissapointment for me. I don't mind the small size of the dishes and the price is in an okay range. Yet, the taste of the desserts was so plain and boring that it even destroyed the taste of paring champaign. I heard some customers in the restaurant say ""it is cute (and it is),"" but did not hear anyone say ""it is delicious."" There are many good cafes and bakeries around this hyped dessert bar, which are worth your time and money. more

smart and deeeeeeeeeeeeelicious 6/18/2006

AMAZING! 6/12/2006

Absolutely the best dessert I have ever devoured. Service was great and the staff was quite knowledgable. My girlfriend loved the fromage blanc, but if you love chocolate make sure you sample the pink peppercorn ice cream. The white chocolate mousse with rhubard and rhubarb sabayon was mouth watering, better than most white chocolate. The selection is overwhelming...have a little bit of everything you will not be dissapointed. Don't forget the house cocktail...great drink and the iced coffee will leave you energized. more

Memory lane 5/7/2006

ChikaLicious takes you back in time. It is a beautiful trip down memory lane to a time when we use to bake from scratch, with our hands. Remember what ""real"" butter tastes like? I was joyously reintroduced. Don't plan on coming if you're in a rush. The line is out the door. This is all about good conversation, ambiance and paying homage to freshly prepared desserts. A real treat. Pros: worth the wait Cons: the wait more

exceptional 5/5/2006

My wife, associate and I enjoyed dessert at ChikaLicious on Saturday night, and from welcome to good night it was an exceptional experience. We were greeted promptly and shown to a wonderfulcounter seating a place of beauty, with modern archetecture and elaborate kitchen equipment. The service was perfect and our desserts were wonderful. I had perhaps the finest fromage Blanc Island Chees cakesalad - the cream seemed to melt in my mouth. brulle. When in the area, this is an eatery not to be missed more

So bad it was a joke 5/2/2006

Believe all the bad reviews you read on this website about chikalicious. The rave reviews must be from people who get high off ""trendy"" places. I understand that many trendy ""couture"" restaurants serve really tiny servings at high prices. I'm okay with that but the desserts at Chikalicious are ridiculously tiny. You would expect something so tiny to atleast give you a good punch of flavor but everything was bland and common. First I thought $12 was cheap for a tasting but after experiencing it I wouldn't pay $1. The place is a gimmick and I have no idea how this restaurant received such good reviews and raves from patrons. My guests and I were all dissapointed. Cons: Tasteless, Tiny Servings, Expensive more

Perfect 10 4/26/2006

This is one of the very few eating establishments that use only quality, fresh, pure ingredients in all their wonderful receipes. In a culture where too many people these days settle for fast and/or processed foods, the quality of many local bakeries/pastries has declined markedly. ChikaLicious holds true to the real tradition of high standards with everything they make. Thank you ChikaLicious! more
