Chef Tucker's Patisserie

This was a great place, but they appear to have gone out of business. We went there on a Sunday a few weeks ago, and it was locked and dark inside. I called today, and their number has been disconnected. Pros: Was great food Cons: Now it's gone more

When I was home on leave from Iraq, i wanted a nice, new place to go. The whole family (17 adults and two children) joined me. Every last person LOVED the food. ""The best they've ever had"" as many of them put it. I ordered the Filet Mignon. Three days later and my mouth is still watering thinking about it. The French Onion soup was delicious! While his meals are amazing, nothing compares to his desserts. This place is a must! I will definitely be going back when my tour ends! Pros: Food was AMAZING and service was very pleasant! Cons: they don't have one in Iraq! LOL more

I had a corporate event I needed to plan (all the top dogs there) and so looked to City Search to provide a recommendation and I took a chance with Chef Tucker and it was a good risk. The food was amazing -- our CEO said she'd use them again and again ...customer service is really great (I tried their restaurant and even though they are working through the kinks of any new restaurant -- the service was great, good at setting expectations) ...Try these guys out ...they are incredibly professional and will make any event/party you are planning a complete success! Wow, this place was a great find! Went first for lunch, had the ham & swiss croissant(YUMMY) and then back for their happy hour, had the chevre canapes, Chef Tucker's Franks chicken, & the Martini Persuassion(both food items whereperfect for happy hour snacks, and the fresh fruit puree in the martini was very refreshing). Each experience was equally impressive. And I found out it is a family run business, but the ultimate bonus of Chef Tucker's is the large pastry case full of amazing desserts. I tried the Paris Brest, oh that hazelnut butter cream was absolutely decadent !!! Definitley one of my new favorite places! Pros: Cute balconies and patio to sit on, perfect for a glass of wine! We went in for just a tasty cup of coffee and pastry, but were told to wait at the door, encountering a disgruntled man who said he had been waiting for a while. The ""hostess"" didn't tell us that we could go in and order the coffee and pastry on own, until after we had waited a while, and didn't make us feel welcome when she found out we weren't there to have a meal. There were open tables when we walked in. The coffee and pastry were really overpriced, and we didn't feel comfortable to sit down, as the atmosphere was chaotic and the service rude. We were seated promptly but went into insulin shock because our stomachs needed food asap, we had had coffee and espresso and it seemed about an hour to get the croissant sandwich and the poached eggs benedict. There were only 2 other tables and they seemed to get their food faster, although they sat down 20 minutes after us. Saturday morning breakfast. Have a snack before you go! Otherwise the sandwich was good, but the waiter clueless, new guy I guess. My suggestion is to go in the off times, not breakfast. Pros: Nice croissants Cons: Slow inexperienced staff more

The croissants and pastries alone are worth the 20+ minute drive (from my home in the burbs) to Chef Tuckers. I've tried all the tasty dishes on the breakfast side of the menu and a few on the lunch side and they are all ""off the charts"". As if the fantastic food weren't enough. The service provided by Jen and her friendly crew augments the fabulous dining experience at Chef Tuckers . We happened to stop by this place on a whim for breakfast and glad we did. The breakfast was delicious (I had a vegetable omelette) but not a whole lot of choices. They also had multiple french pastries in the case but most were sold out by the time we got there - the remaining still looked good but not as much of a variety as Petit Provence on Division St. The surroundings were cozy - like eating inside your own home. The only thing is that if you want some sort of privacy w/ conversation , this wouldn't be it. We heard every word of a loud girl next to us the whole time b/c it was pretty quiet otherwise. But, there's different parts of the house/restaurant to sit in so maybe next time, we'll choose a spot. We didn't see the 2nd floor. We lucked out w/ rock star parking on the street but we saw some reserved off-street spaces on the side of the house when we left. The only one thing for me is that they didn't have decaf espresso. I found this place on citysearch and I AM SO GLAD I WENT! My friend took the recommendation and tried the eggs benedict and was blown away by the fresh croissant and hollandaise sauce... I ordered the ceaser salad- dressing was dank, and the veggie pasta was so tasty (I added grilled chicken). EVERY SAUCE WAS PERFECTED like i was back in Paris.... The atmosphere was very elegant and French- I loved all the real Rembrandt art work!! Service was timely, and I DEFINATLY GAVE MY COMPLEMENTS TO THE CHEF! This is by far the best restaurant on the eastside! Pros: location, parking, service- food (obivously) Cons: end up taking too many pastries home- they are so good!!! more

Chef Tucker's is a great addition to trendy Hawthorne. Croissants are to die for. Friendly, pleasant, staff. When he can sneak away from the kitchen Chef Tucker will come visit with diners. Beautiful restored Victorian house is a great place to enjoy all Chef Tucker's has to offer. The sauces are right out of the best French Restuaurant in Paris. more

The pasteries will send you back to the patisseries of Paris! Chef Tucker had done a great job of putting his best into his menu. I've had everything on the breakfast menu and make my breakfast out of the crepes, breakfast sandwich and pain au chocolate. The lunch menu is just as good. Chef Tucker's Patisserie represents the very best of the Portland French Renaissance. I attended the Grand Opening where I sampled the exquisite pasteries and delicate croissants. I especially enjoyed the old world charm. I highly recommend this authentic French restaurant and pastry shop to anyone with an appreciation for the finer things in life.
