I work in the AT&T building across the street from Cheesy Janes and have been a regular for about five years. The milkshakes are amazing and the food is decent but that's where it stops. Two co workers and myself decided to go here for lunch earlier today (03/09/13) around 11:15 am and were treated with the worse customer service ever. I'm 6""4ft tall so we decided to sit in the corner booth but a hispanic gentleman whom I never got a name informed us we couldn't sit there because it was for a party yet we were the only ones in the restaurant when we arrived!! The table was not reserved and there wasn't a customer in sight! The man told us ""incase a party arrives"". The waiter was too busy thinking about the next customer he never took time to properly take care of the long time customers he already had present! So I sat there uncomfortably with my two other friends alone in the restaurant until after we finished eating four people walked in who he happily sat in the corner booth. So basically if we had one more person we could have sat there disregarding my height! The hispanic gentleman was very rude, avoided us, and made it very apparent he didn't care if long time customers we comfortable or not. Keep in mind the booth is only really big enough for 4 adults on a good day without being shoulder to shoulder so asking to sit there with only having 3 people wasn't asking too much! I informed the manager who said he would talk to him but at this point it's too late. His poor service lost a 5 year customer! Next time I hope he learns the age old golden rule to put the customer first! more

Far from San Antonio's best burger 10/29/2010

The burgers are fine I suppose. Not worth the price though. The last time I was there the manager was running all over the place and hollering at employees making the dining experience very unpleasant. If you want a great burger at a great price I suggest going to Chris Madrid's or even Chester's. The burgers at those two places are superior and the customer service is fantastic. more

Really good burgers!! 9/6/2010

No frozen patties here. Great tasting beef that makes great tasting burgers, very large burgers. I have eaten here more that 10 times because of it's proximety to my work and have never had an issue, burgers are always delicious and prepared as I asked. Retro feel is cool too. A bit pricey but I dont think about the $10 once I taste it, the way it should be. more

Best Burgers in San Antonio!! 11/6/2009

This is one of my favorite restaurants in San Antonio. The burgers are excellent, as is the rest of the food, especially the malts! I go there frequently and my family always wants to eat there when they visit San Antonio. The food is priced quite low (and I'm a poor college student!). Mmm, now I want to go there!! Pros: Great food and service, cheap! Cons: none whatsoever more

Nothing to rave about! 4/6/2009

The burger was just okay. I don't like fat misshaped burgers so that turned me off. My burger was this big ball of meat in the middle of the bun. I felt like I was eating miles of bread just to get to the ball of meat in the middle. I went with just myself and my two small children and my bill was close to $40.00. It's upsetting to pay that much $ on a mediocre meal. Won't be going back. Pros: Cute Decor, Nice Atomosphere Cons: Overpriced more

Awesome food and 50s diner atmosphere! 3/15/2009

The entire staff is fun and friendly. The sweet, old man at the bar area told us about the history while we enjoyed our amazing food. The quantities are massive and the food is delicious! Pros: best cheeseburgers in town; awesome malts; excellent service Cons: that I can't go daily more

Best Onion rings in San Antonio 2/2/2009

Excellent burgers and great service! The onion rings are worth killing for and the fries are good too. Never had a bad meal here! Pros: Best Onion Rings in town Cons: Parking can be dicey more

Chesters is better for burgers. Cheesy Janes is for kids 12/22/2008

This place is okay, but not better than Chesters. I am believing this is higher because the tech savy mom's are on here more than the blue collar types that frequent Chesters. If you with your kids go to cheesy janes. If you want a great burger go to Chesters more

Good Burger! 6/29/2008

Had heard nothing about this burger joint, saw it in a travel book and decided to try it. Thought that the service was top notch and the burger and onion rings were great! Do not have Sonic where I love so cannot compare it to that, but compared to McDonald's, Burger King, etc. thought that this was much better and a very 60's looking restaurant. Noticed that there were a lot of families eating there, very kid friendly. more

Not that good! 6/27/2008

Onion rings were OK but not as good as Clear Springs, Tator Tots too greasy better at Sonic, Fries hard better @ Whataburger,Hamburgers so so better at Fudrucker's & Chesters, Shakes too much ice!!! Pros: NICE STAFF Cons: food not very good WAY OVER PRICED!!! more

bathrooms 6/8/2008

The bathrooms should be cleaned. Its hard to enjoy a mean when the restrooms are so dirty. The food is great but the restrooms make the whole place feel dirty. more

Not worth the effort! 4/30/2007

I tried it and was very disappointed! The burger was mediocre and overpriced, the shake was good but way overpriced! I've had better burgers at fast food drive throughs. Pros: Good shake Cons: Bad food more

Just a burger 4/2/2007

I do not think this place is that great. They are just overpriced burgers. Fairly comprable to Burger king. Sure the burgers are large but they should taste good too. Pros: Fast seating when we went Cons: Overpriced more

Best Cheeseburger Ever! 3/15/2005

I have been there several times while visiting San Antino and Cheesy Jane's has the best cheeseburger I have ever had. Big portions of meat with LOTS of cheese and all the fixings you could ever want or imagine. Everytime I am in San Antino I make a point of visiting Cheesy Jane's at some time to eat. Pros: Nostalgic Atmosphere, Good value, Fast service Cons: a little noisey more

The Best Hunk o`Beef 2/20/2004

This great eating place serves all types of eaters with the milkshakes, great burgers, tuna melts, and the great southwest chicken sandwhich. The waiter seats you and you dont ever half to flag him down. This full-service restaurant is the best burger place in San Antonio, might i suggest an M&M and oreo milkshake, it is awesome! Pros: Good Food, Good Atmosphere, Clean Restrooms Cons: , n/a, n/a more

Best burgers in town! 9/3/2002

Cheesy Jane's has the feel of a sixties malt shop in a bright colorful refurbished gas station. The real star is the one-pound hamburger - get your picture on the hall of fame if you can finish it! The food is great - definitely a hamburger, rings, and malt sort of place (but with other items to make everyone happy) - and a good bargain to boot. Pros: Fabulous burgers!, Great malts & shakes more

The overall service and food was great. The Choco Banana shake was AWESOME!!!! more

cheesy NOT cheesy! 8/26/2002

Cheese on the burger not the surroundings like TGIF or some other corporate clone. more

Small Place, Big On Taste 8/22/2002

Very friendly little place on Broadway squeezed in between Jim's & Earl Ables. Great Food (Big burgers like you'd make 'em) & thick shakes. Great place for kids too. Fun decorations and friendly staff make the good burgers even better. Pros: Friendly, Fun, Good Food Cons: Small more

I was NOT impressed 8/18/2002

With all of the hype that I've heard about this place, my family and I were very disappointed during our lunch visit today. The food was passable, but not nearly as good as I'd been led to believe. The parking was atrocious! The place is way too small. If they're going for an ""old fashioned hamburger/malt joint"", that maitre'd is way out of place. Cons: Terrible parking, Restuarant too small more
