Best burgers in Delaware county!

I heard that Charlie's was supposed to have great hamburgers and man was I disappointed. The place is a true hamburger shack which was cool, but their burgers are as small as Whit...

Incredible Delicious 7/7/2005

My wife turned me on to this place 18 years ago when we were first married. At the time I wasn'nt to impressed. After my next visit they began to grow on me. My wife, I, and the kids now drive 20 miles for these babies. They still taste as awsome as ever. The Pat's Steak of the cheeseburger world. Get em' loaded. Pros: Inexpensive, Great shakes, good service Cons: closed on tuesdays, closed in the winter more

The Memories 7/7/2005

My parents used to take me, my sister, and brother to Charlie's when we were little, we used to get so excited when they said we were getting Charlie's for dinner our mouth would start to water. The chesseburgers with everything and a black and white, you couldn't get any better then that! Now, I take my kids and they love it just the same as I did, it was a treat that I would never forget!!! Pros: awesome burgers, great shakes, a legend Cons: small dining area more

Mmmmm.........Charlies 7/7/2005

The greatest cheeseburger in the history of the known universe. The gods weep at the deliciousness of Charlies. more

BEST BURGER EVER 7/7/2005

The flavor is in the grease and yet I don't feel sick after eating two and a milkshake. Just the way a burger should be. more

Step back in time with a Great Burger and Shake 6/15/2005

When I want a great Burger and I'm back in my old neighborhood I head to Charlies. I too have been a customer for close to 40 years. When I was a kid we would stop by the old place in Springfield after shopping at Korvettes or Kleins for some cheeseburgers and Black and Whites. Wow those shakes were the best and they still are! The burgers still taste the same and have the same quality. Memories of walking out of the joint with a empty hamburger bun bag fill of hot and juicy cheeseburgers and some frosty milkshakes are special. Pros: Memories, Milkshakes, Best Burgers more

Worth driving from Bucks County for 3/16/2005

It was a treat when my Dad brought home Charlie's hamburgers wrapped in their little wax paper bags, usually on a Friday night after he finished his second shift at Boeing in Morton. I'm now living in Bucks County, but my husband is also a Charlie's fan. We drive down once or twice a summer. Nobody mentioned it, but is Charlie's still closed from the last weekend in October to the last weekend in April? Oh yes, I remember skipping class to go to Scotty's in Springfield too, but Charlie's is better. Does anyone know if Jimmy John's is still there out on Route 1? Check out the pictures in Charlie's of Jimmy John and Charlie and their wives. Anyway, you don't need fries and onion rings - Charlie's is like the ""Cheeburger, Cheeburger"" place from Saturday Night Live. They know what they do best, and they stick to it. Pros: hamburgers, service, shakes more

Hamburger Heaven 6/24/2004

Back in the 1960s, a friend took me to Charlie's and I fell in love with the place. It has moved from its off Baltimore Pike location to one now off McDade Blvd. but the murger expereince is the same. I get cheese with everything. I go oncea month for a fix and order 3 with a black and white shake. Zacs in Crume Lynne gives them a run but Charlies is a bit larger, the cooks older and order takers more professional. In Charlies the is an atmosphere unlike any burger jont I have expereinced. Pros: Cheeseburgers, Burger joint elan, great shakes more

CHARLIE'S ROCKS! 5/31/2004

oh boy.. to all those people out there going to ZACKS or other crappy burger joints, get in know and GO TO CHARLIE""S!!! Its the best burger, and for those of you complaining about no fries or onion rings, PLEASE! those things are for burger places that LACK in the burger dept. so they fill you up on those distractions! you dont need 'em at charlies! i recommend the cheeseburger with everything.... and a black and white!!!! I will never go to mcD's or burger king, wendy's or zacks so long as CHARLIE'S is in business!!!!! Pros: best burgers ever!, great staff! more

Chuckie's Burgers 5/10/2004

I drove 25 miles for this?! If it was my hometown I'm sure I'd be used to the food but for a $3 double cheeseburger...forget it! The burgers were thin no substance to it at all...I give the burgers a 4...but I will say this...Black & White shake?EXCELLENT I'd say 10! Pros: Social Gathering Spot, Milkshake Cons: , Cost For Burgers, No Fries more

NO HAMBURGER IS BETTER!!!!!!! 12/4/2003

THE BEST!! I have been buying Charlies Hamburgers for the past 36 years and have NEVER had a better burger anywhere. Pros: Inexpensive, The Service more

NO FRIES 8/22/2003

I don't know about the rest of these people that have reviewed this hamburger joint, but I like fries with my burgers. If you are like me, you will be very disappointed. All they've got on their menu are hot dogs, hamburgers, milk shakes and mini bags of potatoe chips. No onion rings, fries, or anything else of the like. Ordering and paying for your food is very chaotic. It definitely was a great burger, especially the gooey cheese they use to top it. It's worth a trip if you live nearby. Don't drive far to get it. White Rose in Roselle, NJ is by far worth the hour hike from PA. Pros: tasty burgers Cons: chaos, NO FRIES, seating limited more

don't go there on tuesdays 6/8/2003

excellent burgers, great milkshakes however charlies is closed on tuesdays. more

Stepping back in time with my Dad. 12/13/2002

Fridays were for the guys, in our family it was Fish or you fended for yourself. My Dad would wink and we were off to Charlies for one of the best hamburgers ever to crest the Golden Mile. Anyone from Springfield in the late 50's inthru the 60's knew of a place called Scotties up on Sproul road. A .25 cent hamburger and fries, with a shake and off to the drags. But If you wanted the best in town,... we would Zoom down to Charlies. Hands down the best. I still remember Whitie and that smile. Today I still go and step back thru time, with memories of my dad with each and every bite. Pros: Friendly, Old Fashion, Down to earth people Cons: Seating, Not for large groups more

A 50 YEAR VETERAN 12/13/2002

I FIRST STARTED GETTING MY BURGER FIX SATISFIED AT CHARLIES WHEN IT WAS IN SPRINGFIELD IN THE EARLY 50'S. THROUGH THE YEARS THEY HAVE REMAINED CONSISTANTLY A GREAT BURGER. HAND FORMED AND COOKED JUST RIGHT. BRING BACK THOSE DAYS OF BURGER AND SHAKE EATING CONTESTS AT CHARLIES. WHO NEEDED DRUGS, YOU GOT HIGH ON THE TASTE. Pros: TASTE, QUALITY, VALUE more

Simply the best. 11/21/2002

I was introduced to Charlie's by my dad, who used to go there when he was a kid. Now we go out of our way on car trips to make a stop there and get a Bunny (burger with the works). The staff is friendly and courteous, the food is simple but excellent, and the shakes are out of this world. The entire experience is totally authentic -- just don't expect the Ritz! But definitely skip the nearby Nifty Fifty's and go for Charlie's if you want the best burger of your life. Pros: incredible burgers, clean, courteous staff Cons: I was the only female, sports talk abounds more

burgers burgers burgers 11/20/2002
