This restaurant is very pretty! The color theme is red and the booths are very comfortable. There was a live singer singing Frank Sinatra songs and the whole experience was great! Pros: Ambience, Service more

best supper club in southern california 2/14/2008

We were escorted to a suede booth overlooking the main dining room. There was a singer by the name of Luca who sounded EXACTLY like Frank Sinatra. The singer was awesome and definitely set the vibe for this supper club. He performs Wednesday through Saturday night. The design is ultra chic and very slick. It is a throwback to Vegas in the 60's. A great date place as I had dined here before with my GF. As I was now hanging with my buddy it felt oddly romantic. The server looked and sounded sharp. He recommended a couple great wines by the glass. A Lincourt Chardonnay and a Pinot which I forgot the name of. The wines were very inexpensively priced as the 678 Group prices all their wines well below their competitors. We had a seafood platter which was kind of expensive, but unreal! I had the wedge salad and my buddy had a lobster bisque soup. This soup was one of the tastiest soups I have ever enjoyed. Since the restaurant is so romantic, I figured "Why not, I'll share his soup." The pretzel bread they brought out was piping hot and you dunk it in this melted blue cheese sauce. We ordered a 12 oz. Filet and a Kansas City Strip. Both were medium rare and cooked to perfection. The rub they use on their steaks is so awesome. We had the "locked and loaded" mash and the mushrooms. We finished the evening with a chocolate decadence cake and some espresso. All good. The GM approached our table and thanked us for coming. He has been at Chapter 8 for 2 years and admitted that they had some struggles in their early going. Don't all restaurants?? They now have a great chef who was previously the Executive Chef from Mastro's. Their service staff is really well trained and responds to every small need (our waiter requested the valet to bring our car forward so we wouldn't wait). Chapter 8 is a big winner. Pros: food, service, atmosphere more

Ultimate dining experience 2/14/2008

This place is not only gorgeous, but the food, servide and ambience are unbelievable! A Sinatra-like singer performed throughout the night even taking requests of our favorite classics. Their steak (petit filet) was cooked perfectly and complimented with the to-die-for "locked and loaded" mashed potatoes- the guiltiest pleasure ever. Also tried the fish and was surprised at how succulent and flavorful. I expected their steak to be amazing- it's a steakhouse!- but would highly recommend their seafood entrees as well. Table side visit from the chef who made dessert recommendations. Very nice touch. The apple dessert tasted like my grandmothers! Dining at Chapter 8 is worth every penny. Pros: Live music- Sinatra singer, pretzel bread, fun cocktails Cons: Not open on Sun or Mon more

Service not that good, for the money 10/4/2007

Had dinner her with a group of business associates. The place looks great / hip, with live entertainment, although the music was too loud for me. Regarding the food and service: for a restaurant that serves $40 steaks ( side dishes & other course are extra ), the overall experience was a disappointment. The steak was cold, and actually pretty tough. The Scotch, ordered straight up, came on the rocks. There was no salt, no salt after I asked for it ( the first time) and no salt after I asked for it ( again ). At the end, I kept asking the waiter for a take-out box for my cold steak. It never came. Pros: Cool place Cons: Service, value more

A little Chic outside hollywood 9/27/2007

I love this place - Thursday night shows 20-somethings dancing and drinking and generally having a good time. The food is good - it is overpriced and the wait staff not as kind as I would prefer, but the atmosphere is great - they have a lovely outside patio with a fireplace - the bartenders are very nice and the crowd is fun. The DJ plays good music and the dance floor is well sized. Better bar overall however But one does not feel they are in Agoura. Pros: Chic and Fun Cons: A bit overpriced more

HORRIBLE SERVICE, HORRIBLE FOOD, Nice Decor...that's it! 6/6/2007

DO NOT EAT HERE! Don?t get me wrong, this place has very nice decor with it?s plasma screen TV?s playing classic movies from the 1920?s and up. However, the food is highly overpriced and is not at all what you would expect as far as taste and creativeness. Don?t be fooled by ?make a reservation? whether or not you have a reservation, it?s literally first come first served. We had a reservation for 8pm and got seated 2 hours later! Apparently there were a group of girls who had finished their dinner hours ago and where just sitting at our table chatting and having cocktails, while we were left standing and waiting because no one felt they had the right to kindly ask them to take it to the bar. The hostess lady was very rude and the minute we would ask her a simple question like, ?where?s the manager?? she would have an awful attitude without answering the question, and at one point put her hand in our face, and walked away. Her co-worker said that the hostess has been having a ?bad day? and not even she, offered to help. Believe me I could go on. To make matters worse, the manager finally came around and the best he could do to accommodate us for such awful service, was to give us ?free? disgusting appetizers that none of us touched. If you are looking to have a quick drink, it?s Ok. But even that depends, they usually pack the place up so tight that you can?t even walk. All in all, the best thing about that place was the decor, just think of it as a Wanna B Hollywood in Agoura Hills, with cool decor, but even in Hollywood you get what you pay for. Unlike this place, highly overpriced (including entrance), no walking room, with disgusting food and horrible service. Go to Buddha Lounge! Pros: Decor Cons: Too Crowded, Service, Food, Highly Overpriced, Long Wait for Reservations. more

Typical Oversell and Under Deliver 4/21/2007

This place claims to be a legitimate steak house. I think not. I was there last weekend and was extremely disappointed. I ordered the striploin (supposedly the most flavorful dish on the menu). The waiter might want to rethink that statement. Just because i order it medium-rare (as any steak connoisseur would do) doesn't mean it has to be served cold. LIterally, the plate was ice cold and the slab of meat even colder. i was afraid to send it back because they probably would have just reheated it (then it wouldnt be medium rare). Not that everything was bad, they did serve a great grey goose rocks at the bar, although it is practically impossible to screw that up. This place may be a great bar/club scene but the food is no match against the mastro's of the world. the double something or other potatoes were good. cheers Pros: atmosphere, potatoes Cons: food, steaks more

Trendy looks but average praise to the cook. 12/29/2006

I wish the service & food was as good as the visual aesthetics of the place. The food was average. When I ordered my creamed spinach my waitress told me that "i actually hate it" (Fortunately, aside from it being too creamy, it was pretty good) . There were plenty of servers walking around asking us if "we were okay". I would then reply,"No, I'd like more water and more bread" both of which were not provided & took longer than me getting my car back from the valet. Oh, about that, the valet service gave my car back with a dent of another car's license plate screws on the bumper. Sigh..I could go on but i'd rather not rekindle my most unromantic & disappointing 1-year anniversary dinner. The place is best for locals going for cocktails as its definitely too far to drive for anyone beyond Topanga Canyon blvd. Pros: ambience, suede booths, Cons: poor service, average food, not worth the drive to agoura hills more

The food was great! The atmosphere was trippy and disturbing. All too much red, and the youngish in a rush to go nowhere crowd super annoying. Is there something in Agoura's water? Do these people ever venture out to LA? Weird. more

The Place To Be! 9/4/2006

It is like Miami meets Vegas in the middle of Agoura! the atmospehere is amazing, with plush reds and cool lighting. The food is excellent, including their filet... mmmm... Order the mac n cheese, it is excellent! On Fridays & Saturdays you want to call ahead for bottle service, otherwise you will wait in line. The waitresses are hot and the vibe is amazing! Pros: Ambiance, Steaks, best Mac n Cheese Cons: Service when it is overcrowded... more

Trendy atmosphere, no Vegan entrees. 5/4/2006

I mean, I figured that if this place has such a talented chef - that they'd be able to whip something up for a vegan. Usually the really trendy places can. But alas, no luck... I even called ahead to request something! But when I got there, they acted all confused and just gave me some regular old spaghetti at some ridiculous price. I'd only go back for the drinks. Pros: Cool atmosphere, Great bar, Good salad Cons: No vegan selection, Nice waiters, Hot waitresses more

Horrible Experience 4/9/2006

We were seated about 1 hour after our reservation, then had to wait an additional 30 min before we saw our waiter. Steak was not cooked to our preference, sides dishes were horrible. Way overpriced for service and food. Ambience was cool, bar area was nice. Pros: Ambience Cons: Food, Service, Price more
