Best

Cha Cha Cha is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in the city. It's absolutely delicious. Pros: amazing food, sangria, ambiance Cons: don't take reservations

Worst

This restaurant is so so at best. I went to the location in the Mission. The calamari was the best thing we got, and it was just okay. The service was lacking, to say the least...

Editorial review from Citysearch 5/18/2015

Occured Saturday night, 05/16/2015 at 11pm. From the moment we walked in, the woman\r bartender acted as if she had something against us. She tried too hard to act sexual and did a\r weird pose (leaning forward to pump up her chest) before she could talk to us. It was soooo\r weird. She was rude, disrespecful and could careless about helping us. After 30 minutes of\r wating, we asked the bartender, woman, when is it our turn because we were told it would be\r about a 15 minutes. She said, ""only one more party with two people ahead of us."" Ok, all the\r seats behind the bar are empty and we made sure to point it out to her as well. She ignored\r our request again. Then 5 minutes later she says, well I don't see them, so why don't you\r guys grab a chair. We order our food, my boy friend's dish came out 10 minutes later which is\r fine. My dish never came out ever and she completely forgot about about it after asking her\r about my dish twice during the meal. On top of that, she asked if our bill would include the\r other peoples drink on our tab (strangers at the bar that we had a conversation with and don't\r know). We said ""No"", but she charged it anyways. LOL The couple did not have enough cash\r on them, so we helped to avoid confrontation and embarrassment for her. Still, the place\r closed and I never got my meal and was charged for it. This place again, you need to watch\r your bill. Four people observed her but we all could not figure out why she acted so snobbish\r and as if we did something to her. We were just there for dinner, notthing more. After a long\r hard week of work, people just want to enjoy something nice for a change. Maybe she can\r keep that in mind before throwing an attitude like that to customers. How come she treated\r us different from everyone else? Besides ignoring us, making us wait an additional 15\r minutes after the place was empty, horrible customer service, and she can't do simple 1st\r grade addition, I can't say anything good about the place. We felt discriminated by her. Plus,\r when i asked for water, the man bartender just gave us tap water from the sink with\r unsanitary glasses.I mean there was someone elses lipstick on my glass. I tried to call the\r place to inform the manager what is happening but their phone was always busy or it didn't\r work. Were not people who care about the money, although we were charge for other peoples tab on our bill, but what\r happened, the discriminating feeling the place had left us with was a very bad experience.\r This place normally has a great reputation but one person can ruin it all. Becareful with your bill. more

Sangria, sangria, sangria! 1/4/2010

Really 3.5 stars, but we can't do that yet. Pros: Food is yummy, always! Cons: Service is not always consistent when super busy. more

Great sangria.... 6/5/2009

This is definitely one of the best places in SF for Sangria, which they serve by the pitcher or glass. I've eaten here many times over the years, but I don't think the food holds up to drinks. That said, my favorite thing on the menu is the plantains. I'm also not a huge fan of the service -- some nights that I've been here, they hold every table for dinner customers even when the restaurant is empty! I'd like to enjoy my appetizers and sangria sitting down, thanks. more

Great food and atmosphere 5/26/2009

Went on a Saturday night and did have to wait an hour but it was worth it. Sangria was good and helped past the time. There was four of us and five tapa dishes were more than enough. Chickenwings were delicious. Calamari tasty and the shrimp with I forgot what sauce more

Haight St is Cha Cha Cha-ing its way past the bar scene 2/26/2009

With crowds of people outside and standing room only within, Cha Cha Chas has become the most popular restaurant on Haight St. While other restaurants only offer seating and food, Cha Cha Chas bar serves Sangria almost more popular than their Mediterranean menu. more

Sangria? YES PLEASE!! 2/18/2009

I had never been to Cha Cha Cha before... I will most deffinately be back. Walking in you are surrounded by the almost comical latin atmosphere. The place is alive with conversation and highly reccomend eating in the bar area. The 25 minunte wait was the perfect ice breaker, the pitcher of sangria probably helped too. When it came time to order I said "Bring three dishes of your choice." The food was great the price was even better. Pros: Great Staff, Excellent Atmosphere, Awesome food Cons: None more

love this spot 11/10/2008

this one is a bit smaller than the one on mission. but, the food is the same, GREAT. i love coming here. they have a full bar, but you can't come here without drinking the sangria. the cajun shirp and the muscles are my favorite. i usually only order a whole bunch of tapas. you won't be disappointed. more

Best Sangria 11/5/2008

This is my favorite restaurant in SF! \r \r Best Sangria on the planet, amazing tapas! \r \r Lines are long, no reservations, and the flan isn't the greatest... BUT the atmosphere, drinks, and tapas are worth the wait! more

Disappointed 7/17/2008

I had no problem with them adding a healthcare surcharge onto my bill, because I think everyone should have health insurance. I was shocked to find out later that even though they gave out a card saying they're proud to be giving their employees health coverage, they're actually suing the city over it. I hate to think that they are using my money to take away people's health care . more

Delicious Food and Great Service! 5/23/2008

Cha Cha Cha was the first time I've ever had Tapas and I am hooked!! the food was amazng and sharing dishes with friends is such a wonderful experience! I agree that the place is kind of crowded but we had a such a wonderful waiter who even gave us a discount! Too bad i don't live in SF otherwise I would be there a lot more often. The warm spinach salad and the plantains in black bean sauce are my favorites!! more

Good Food but Too Crowded 11/27/2007

The tapas are delicious but the place is way too crowded! The have a full service bar that's in a room that's way too small & the dinner tables are so close together. I wouldn't suggest this place for a large party or for children neither. also be prepared to wait a while if it's dinner time. more

Worst dining experience EVER - Mission Street location 11/19/2007

I have never been treated worse at any eating establishment in my life, including McDonalds. We had a party of 14 under my name and checked in with the host twice before our actual reservation to let him know we were in the bar. He was clearly strung out on something and didn't seem to have any clue what he was doing. When we saw a large party get seated, we checked on our table and he stated "There are two parties of Marisa for 14?" with a dumbfounded look on his face. The host attempted to then seat us at two small tables and 8 chairs for 14 people, then another that only sat 10. When numerous attempts to speak to a manager (or anyone in charge that would help us) failed, we took an empty table nearby. The manager proceeded to YELL in my face that we were hustling them (because we asked for some free sangria to make up for everything), then said we could either keep the table we took or one pitcher of sangria (for 14 people). At that point, we didn't want to give them our money so we left and went to a Taqueria down the street. Never once did I raise my voice, yet I was attacked by the manager. Between the strung out host and the rudely inappropriate manager, I will never eat at this establishment ever again and urge prospective diners to STAY AWAY! more

Authentic Latin Food 10/6/2007

Great, authentic Latin food. Compairs very well to Latin food I ate in Miami. The quesadillas and their salsa were especially tasty. Be prepared to wait well over an hour for a table. Put your name on the list, and go get a drink on Haight. Pros: Menu, Ambience Cons: Parking, Wait Time more

I used to love this place, but it's gone downhill. 9/17/2007

I decided to give Cha Cha Cha's one more chance, because I had at one time really liked the place. I thought that maybe it became good again, but I was wrong.

Pros: Get there early and there is no waiting in line. Cons: You will still wait due to poor service, Food has gone way downhill. more

We love this place!! 2/18/2007

This is one of my husband and I's favorites...although it is loud and the wait can be long, the food is great and the service once you are seated is relatively quick and friendly. We have eaten both the entrees and tapas, but I think the tapas are better. The chicken is delicious with a sweet and slightly hot sauce atop a bed of rice, the calamari is cooked just right and has an enormous side of delicious dipping aioli sauce that is gently mild in flavor. The chicken quesadilla is enormous and definitely doesn't disappoint....I would say it's almost more of a very large soft taco or burrito with all the good things they stuff inside of it. The black bean soup is delicious and so are the fried plantains, but don't get both at the same time, as the plantains come with a side of blackbeans that are almost identical to the soup. Don't be fooled by the menu calling the items "tapas" - the portions are fairly large, and if you're like us and just can't decide on two or three items, you'll be taking lots of leftovers home...which isn't so much of a bad thing! Pros: large selection of tapas, sangria, fun atmosphere Cons: parking, crowded and noisy, waiting area by door isn't sufficient - may have to wait outside more
