By Far The Best Physical Therapists Around! 4/5/2008

CH Physical Therapy- CHPT- far surpasses any other physical therapy group I've experienced, and as an active person who tends to get injured each season, I have experienced a number of PT options over the years.\r The most outstanding quality of CHPT is the knowledgeable trainers, who go way beyond the ordinary when it comes to helping clients recover from injuries or chronic physical problems.\r With fully trained staff, including the front desk gals who cheerfully do all the footwork for insurance authorization, you know you are working with the best in town- and among the very best in the world.\r I have had two injuries in as many years, and both periods of PT resulted in full recoveries. \r The trainers at the Pearl location helped me gain back strength, flexibility and freedom to play again!!\r They are not afraid to push clients to their limit... in order to get results. \r I exceeded my expectations, gaining advanced physical conditioning at the end of my course of PT. \r The trainers back up their therapy with copious notes for insurance and doctors, insuring a team approach to healing.\r I recommend CHPT to everyone I know-- whether they need PT or not (and many people do) Plus, their personal training program is also fantastic. Thanks CHPT- I'm back on the slopes, running path and bike!! Pros: Knowledgeable, professional, friendly, effective- get results! more

Highly recommend CH 4/3/2008

I started seeing Colin 3 years ago for a bum knee and then again last year for my low back problems. The service from Colin has always been great. The front office girls are friendly and always greet me with a smile. The parking at the downtown location can be kind of a pain when it gets real busy, but that's OK considering I'm going to a place where I haven't been able to find such helpful people. Colin has a great way of making people laugh and I really appreciate that because I have a stressful job. I will continue going to Colin for many years to come because of the help he's given me. Pros: Better energy than other places, staff is great, location Cons: Parking (sometimes) more

Upside-down PT 4/2/2008

After SIX previous attempts at physical therapy for my wrist/elbow pain, I found C.H. through a friend of mine who thinks the world of them. My doctor wrote me a referral after 20 minutes of explaining why I thought trying therapy again was a good idea. He looked at me like ""OK but I think you're wasting your time"". Going to C.H. was anything BUT a waste of time, although it was way out of the way for me (I had to drive 50 minutes from my work to get there every day). The treatment I received from Robbie was perfect in the sense that it changed my wrist/arm from being painful to sore to almost fully recovered, AND I learned how to work my muscles efficiently so that I avoid harming myself. What caught me off guard about C.H. is how nice the other patients are and what they say about their therapists: nothing but raves to the 3rd degree. Thank you for a job well done, Robbie!! Pros: A different way of doing PT (YAY!!), Robbie's awesome, great positive energy Cons: Out of the way for me more

Colin is the best PT in Portland 3/31/2008

I moved to Portland 2 years ago from New York City and was desperate to find a physical therapist who could pick up where my NYC PT left off. I saw C.H. as a preferred provider for my insurance plan and looked them up online, where their reputation preceded them. I'm a very fickle patient, however, and wanted someone who would be willing to discuss my treatment regime with my NYC PT, who was great at what she did. Colin not only took his time in finding out every detail of my history and health problems, but he was willing to call my NY PT and discuss my issues with her! Not too many medical people are willing to do something like that for their patients, I thought. The physical therapy was much different from what I was used to (sweating??!) but worked beautifully to help control my shoulder pain and neck pain. Being an older woman (61 years old), I was very impressed with Colin and his bedside manner. And I'm NOT easy to impress! Pros: Lovely bedside manner, professional, BEST PT I've seen in Portland Cons: Environment a little intimidating at first more

Timing is everything! 3/30/2008

I finally got it right! I initially went to CH back in 2002 when it first opened for an elbow injury and was impressed with the therapy I received from Collin, but the front office/billing was kind of disorganized. I completed therapy and had great results, and then 2 years ago I was in a nasty car accident that ravaged my left shoulder, right knee and neck. There was no doubt where I would go for PT: CH! The therapy with Collin was first rate as expected, and the front office/billing issues that were there years ago had been completely solved. What impresses me most about this company is it's attention to every detail. They always greet you by name, they always know what they're doing in therapy, and they always do it consistently. I talked to several patients who were there while I was there doing therapy, and they all would say the same thing: they loved coming to CH for therapy. It's been fun to watch this company grow as quickly as it has while maintaining it's high quality standard, which is not an easy task in business. I will never go anywhere else for therapy and tell everyone I know to not go anywhere but the best! CH! Pros: Attention to detail, best therapist in the world, location Cons: More locations! more

CH saved my shoulder! 3/28/2008

My orthopedic surgeon sent me to CH after trying rehab at 2 other places in Portland. I was terrified at first, seeing all the heavy-duty workout equipment. But that went away in a hurry after I met Colin, my new physical therapist. He listened to my problems intently and was kind in understanding my specific needs to help me get better. The workouts weren't that hard at first and then, by golly, we really started to push it to where I knew I had never been before because I was really tired after my rehab sessions! This was a whole new experience for me, because always thought physical rehab was supposed to be pretty easy. My shoulder is brand new now and I'm able to golf and play racquetball again thanks to CH!! Pros: Excellent physical therapist, great attention more

Amazing training experience! 3/28/2008

I was walking by CH in the Pearl and noticed soemthing that immediately surprised me. There were really overweight people working out in there! Being overweight myself, I walked in and talked to the receptionist about what CH could do to help me because I also have diabetes and back pain. The receptionist was very kind and helpful and then I started physical training with Collin (sp?) and it was difficult but the most rewarding experience I've ever had with exercise! He always made me laugh and helped me make sure I didn't hurt myself and now I'm taking less diabetes medication and my back doesn't hurt anymore! My sister now goes to CH and also loves working out with Andre. I highly recommend CH to anyone who wants the best working out exeprience anywhere!! Pros: Patient, kind staff who knw what their doing Cons: none! more

Best Physical Therapy 3/27/2008

CH Therapy is first rate! Andre makes sure you isolate the muscle you are working on with precise attention to posture, head position, abs, shoulders, any leaning of body forward or back, your wrist position, stance, etc. He works that isolated muscle to exhaustion, but then carefully he makes sure you stretch that muscle after each set. He helped me with advise on healthy eating habits and home exercise routines to keep me working on being pain free. He also helped me with my ergonomics at my work office station. My right arm/shoulder pain is just about gone thanks to Andre and Robbie. Thanks guys! more

Back is as good as new thanks to Andre 3/26/2008

My chiropractor referred me to CH after I fell skiing and wrecked my low back/pelvic area. The whole group at CH is professional and really knows what they are doing, and Andre helped me get back to skiing again by showing me how to work my muscles the right way and not the wrong way. Sweating wasn't something I was expecting from PT, but I always felt 100% better after all my appointments. If you want the best physical therapy anywhere, go to this place and you won't be sorry! Pros: Great physical therapists and exercise equipment more

Effective program 3/25/2008

After 3 different physical theraphist, Colin gave me hope that I can live with a manageable pain level. He sets me up with different, sensible work out routine every week. He helped me lose 20 lbs, live heathier, more fit and more energy. His routines are simple, fun, effective and you can do it in a very reasonable time frame. He is always available for help whenever I need help Pros: Easy to schedule, ambience, service, results. more

Sad to see. 3/19/2008

Marketing is fine. Self-promotion is fine. Berating your peers in falsified testimonials for marketing purposes is not fine.\r \r Prospective patients: for your own good, call the Oregon Physical Therapy Licensing Board and ask about Mr. Hoobler's transgressions (you can also look up the status of his or any PT's license online). His own license is currently in its second year of probationary status for multiple violations. A large fine was also levied against him for this reason.\r \r Surely his heart is in the right place, and he's probably a very passionate practitioner, but the PT community at large should not allow this sort of irresponsible behavior to degrade the profession. Let's leave the snake oil to the chiropractors, hmm? more

CH Physical Therapy & Personal Training 3/16/2008

About one year ago I had a Laminectomy. After that I was introduced to CH Physical Therapy. From the minute I walked in the door was was greeted by Monica and I was made to feel welcome. The professional physical therapy staff of Colin and Robbie are there to help. No matter the limitations or skills, they work with the client and assist them getting the most out of time spent in rehabilitation from injury or condition. They assist in the complete conditioning of the body from cardio and strength exercises to overseeing diet and nutritional aspects. As for me, I'm glad I found the pros at CH Physical Therapy! Pros: Professional, Skilled and motivated more

Great PT's who know their stuff 3/8/2008

Thanks to my doctor, I finally found a program to help my neck pain go away. The PT's are top notch who obviously know what they are doing, especially Andre and Robi. I was shown how to do my exercises the right way so that my muscles could function the way they are supposed to. My neck pain has been gone since going to this place and I'm eternally grateful. One more thing: the office staff is great too! Pros: Professional staff who know they're stuff! Cons: none! more

Back to work thanks to C.H. 3/3/2008

I hurt my back playing softball in the summer of '03 and wasn't able to get back to work until last year. My doctor sent me to C.H. and told me I was in for an experience. What an under statement that was. Robi and Collin took great care and attention at every work out and made sure I got all the exercises right. After 4 months of physical therapy I'm back at work and happy as a clam. C.H. gets 5 stars from me! Pros: Got me back to work, no more back pain Cons: An hour from my house. Need more locations. more

The HOLY GRAIL for PT 3/2/2008

It takes ALOT for me to take the time to write a review on a company, because usually I'm not impressed by anyone. In this case, however, I felt it would be a crime not to make sure everyone who reads about CH PT knows how truly wonderful this business is, and how much exercise can do for your well-being. Having attended PT at other clinics before CH, I can tell you that CH PT is TOTALLY different. My shoulder has given me fits for years and it wasn't until I saw Colin Hoobler at CH PT that I was finally able to use it again like I wanted. To be honest, I almost quit the first week I was there because of how hard he pushed me, but because he constantly reassured me that it was necessary to rehabilitate my shoulder I didn't give up. I'm SO glad I didn't! Every week I continued to get better and better and actually started to crave the workouts because of my progress! Colin also did the impossible: he motivated me to change my eating habits so that I was able to drop 18 pounds during my PT there!! While the PT did take longer than I had anticipated, (4 months), it was worth every penny even though I was covered 90% by my insurance. :) While I do think CH PT is a wonderful approach, I think it is important that people realize that they are going to have to work at getting better as opposed to laying around and having a PT massage you, which is what I had done before and wasted alot of time and money. I give CH my highest recommendation. Pros: Healed my shoulder, changed my eating habits, lost almost 20 pounds Cons: Pushed a little too hard at first, but it's what I needed! more

C.H. lives up to its reputation 3/2/2008

Both my wife and orthopedic doctor encouraged me for months to go to this place for my nagging knee pain. Honestly, I didn't think they'd teach me anything I didn't already know and I figured the pain would go away eventually. I was wrong on both counts!! I finally learned how to exercise so that my knees wouldn't scream at me for days after a workout, and my knees have never felt better thanks to Robi, Collin and the entire group at C.H. The office staff helped me make sure my insurance was going to cover me and was always professional and very nice. I'll never go anywhere else for my physical therapy/exercise help. Pros: Professional staff, first-rate customer service more

Opened my eyes 2/25/2008

I always thought I knew how to exercise right, especially since I had worked with a personal trainer for over a year at 24-Hour Fatness. After severely injuring my neck with that lame personal trainer, I saw my orthopaedic doctor and he recommended that I go to Colin at C.H. PT rather than try and wait it out. First of all, I was really impressed by the secretarial staff and how quickly they were able to fit me in. From the the first visit on, I was treated with respect while being pushed to levels I never thought I could. Colin was a great teacher, an inspiration, and always made things interesting with his humor. My neck's healed and I owe it all to C.H. for opening my eyes to doing things right! more

Don't go anywhere esle once you find the best! 2/24/2008

After trying 2 other physical therapy places with no results (one of them actually hurt my knee), my naturopath recommended C.H. and I'm eternally grateful. I can run again and not have to worry about shooting pains in my knee and low back. The physical therapists at C.H. really know what they're doing and it shows! Pros: Got rid of my pain in no time! Cons: n/a more

PT at its best! 2/21/2008

I was referred to C.H. by my wife who went there for a broken neck in 2004. Unfortunately, it took me almost T-H-R-E-E years to get my motivation up to make the call for my first visit. This was unfortunate because once I got to C.H. it was the best thing I've done for myself in years. Colin is definitely the best at what he does (physical therapy), not just because he's educated at his craft but he also hires great staff. The front office secretaries are very helpful and it's clear that the other physical therapists are the top in their field. I'll continue to use C.H. for personal training because I need the motivation, but if I ever need physical therapy again (God forbid) there's not doubt who I'll use because C.H. is the best! Pros: Motivating, professional staff, BEST physical therapist anywhere Cons: Need to build more locations! more

Move it or lose it! 2/18/2008

Having not exercised AT ALL for the last 31 years, I was scared to death to start physical therapy at CH because my doctor told me to expect to ""work at it"" there. I was such a whimp, It took me 2 weeks just to get up the courage to call and make my first appointment but when I first arrived it was everything I thought it wouldn't be. The front desk staff was warm, friendly and helped me feel at ease right away. My PT was Andre and he was so nice and patient with me, taking his time to figure what was wrong with my knees. The PT was difficult, yes, but never TOO difficult that I wanted to quit. In the end, I'm a lot stronger and have almost no pain in my knees thanks to Andre and the staff at CH. I give them my highest recommendation. Pros: Great atmosphere, professional staff, friendly people Cons: It took me too long to make up my mind to go there! more
