First, never build a house. Second, if you build a house, never hire Cedar Ridge Construction. I erred in not getting a more detailed contract. What I got was a piece of paper listing how much each category of expense was going to cost. In the end, I was charged much, much more than the bid, and when I asked to see the materials invoices, they stopped returning my calls. Unbelievably unethical and incompetent.
