Cedar Hill Roller Rink

I'm a teacher and took my students here on a field trip. The place looks like a dump on the outside but the staff is wonderful. The rink floor is safe and level. They had enough skates for all 70+ students and we had a terrific time. The staff facilitated some skating games/contests and we had the whole place to ourselves. The place does still need some fixing up. The floor in the small snack area is warped and the paint is peeling everywhere. The cosmetic problems aside, I would still go back to have a good time skating. In fact, I hope we'll be able to visit the rink as a yearly field trip. more

My son and I went to this rink for a birthday party and then came back another day just for fun. I wish there were more places like this still around. As the other reviewer said, no this isn't the biggest, most sparkling 'roller palace' out there and yes, it could use a few renovations. But if you want a place that welcomes you, is fun and safe and is a family/ locally owned business ran by people who care about your business you can't go wrong with these guys. This rink has charm and color and personality that you can not find in the big chains and sanitized palaces. It is like stepping back in time to when we were kids. Some people may not like that- quirky, old-fashioned, and fun might not be to their taste but my son and I had a blast at the birthday party when we really did not expect to. We had a great enough time to be willing to drive a 1/2 hour to go back and we will be happy to continue supporting this place for as long as we can. more

This place does not deserve the bad reviews that others have given. Have you ever heard the saying Don't knock it til you try it or Never judge a book by its cover? Despite the negative reviews, I decided to check it out because its the closest rink to my house. I grew up in a skating rink, have been skating for over 30 years and have been to dozens of different rinks. Cedar Hill Roller Rink is not Palace of rinks but it not the most shabby I have ever been to. People have been skating here for over 50 years so they must be doing something right. I met the owner, his name is Dave, the kids call Him Super Dave. This is a small rink compared to others I have been to.. it does need some renovation work but what building that has been standing for over 50 years doesn't! And yes, its always been a skating rink. I took 5 boys to the rink for their 10-4 Tuesday skate, they all had a blast and were asking to come back before we even left the parking lot. This place does not smell like mold, it smells like a skating rink, it is not hazardous nor filthy and their business practices were not awful, matter of fact I found it to be quite charming with unique character. It reminded me of the rink we used to go to when I was a kid. We will definitely be going back. more
