Editorial review from Citysearch 2/1/2013

I visited there in early January 2013 and it was outstanding. The Au Gratin potatoes were the very best I have ever had, the appetizers were delicious and our waitress was excellent and very nice. The Caspers run a great restaurant. I recommend it for any occasion! more

great lunch at CSR 12/16/2011

Just went to lunch at CSR for an office party today. There were 7 of us in our party and we were treated great and the food was great too!! I don't know where these other reviewers are coming from. Everyone in our group liked their selection and service staff could not have been nicer. All of our party said they would be back soon especially since they gave anyone a coupon to get a free steak sandwich in the future. more

Undercooked Steak 10/21/2011

My girlfriend and I went there a couple of days ago and we ordered the most expensive steak they had. It was way, way way, undercooked. When we cut into it in front of the waitress, she grabbed it and brought it in back to be cooked correctly. Once she brought it back a second time, we cut in to it and it was still bloody. Unbelievable. She asked if we wanted to have them recook it a third time to get it right and we just said no, could we have the check and we left. more

My husband and I tried CSR last year at Lenten time because we heard that their all you can eat Walleye and shrimp on Fridays was wonderful...last year it was. We were treated wonderfully, by staff and by our server...this year...it was horrible. We had a reservation and there were people who evidentially did not and they were seated before us...When we did get seated, the ""hostess"" asked us if the table was fine and when I said yes she replied, ""Good, because if it wasn't, you would have to wait even longer."" Then the waitress, ""Francesca."" No smiles, she treated us like it was the biggest imposition...maybe because we only ordered water to drink...she brought my husband the wrong order and basically told him to eat it or go without. And too, the owner or whatever he was was going from table to table like everything was so wonderful. Most of the food was cold or soggy. The salad was tolerable. Needless to say we won't go there again. My husband said you could get a better meal at a saloon with a microwave sandwich and pay much less. more

We live in the neighborhood and we've eaten at CSR for years. The steak was never that good, but it was nice to have a ""steak house"" that we could walk to. more

1 star service and food at a 5 star price 1/1/2010

1 hour and 10 minutes wait beyond our reservation time with no effort to inform us or work with us. The; food was just barely warm, salad plates and bread plates were not cleared in order to make room to serve our entrees. My dinner was handed to me over the top of my friend sitting across the table from me. Steak in one hand and baked potato in the other and no place to put it. We are pro nite regulars. For 25 years we have visited on Dec. 30 for the special menu, champagne and strolling minsrals. This time we had to ask for our champagne and then only got our glass filled if we ""promised to smile"". When one member said NO the owners son left without filling the glass. Now there is class for you. One member of our group never got an entree. They forgot to cook it! When they tried to hurry up a medium well steak it came to the plate brown outside, cold and bleeding red when cut. It was gross. We were seated in a raised floor area and when two different members of the group got up to visit the restroom their chairs fell backwards crashing onto the main floor. A broken ankle or leg just waiting to happen. Two of the owners were present and made no attempt to apologize or make up for our 70 minute wait or the other problems. The bartender and the server knew we were not happy and offered to buy a round of drinks because we were treated so poorly -- but the owners -- they just ignored us and tired to stay as far away from our table as possible. If you want to pay top dollar for service that is worse than a drive thru at a fast food then this would be the place for you. We paid for a portion of our tab with two $10 coupons from their Eagan store. One couple in our party had coupons because they tried to eat at the other store the previous week and had a steak they couldn't chew. New is not better and not improved in our view. No dining experience to be had. New tables and new staff - YUCK! Cons: Inexperienced and short staffed; cold food; slow service more

LOVE THE NEW LOOK!! 8/31/2009

The Sirloin Room has made quite the change! I was there for lunch this past week and was VERY impressed! They've always had good food, but with the tight space and dim lighting I didn't go there very often. With the ""new look"" I will DEFINITELY be back more often! Not to mention...they have pull tabs and salsa bands...I'd HIGHLY recommend going here!! Pros: BRIGHT, QUICK SERVICE, GREAT FOOD & PRICE more

Not so great 9/12/2008

Took the wife there for the free sirloin birthday . It wasn't very impressive. Might as not have a reservation they seat first come first serve. I had reservation for 7 pm and I was watching people getting seated on standby before me. After I said something they wanted me to sit at the bar? Why did I get a reservation? I tried little bit of the steak and it was dry and had no taste. The renowned au gratin potato's were au-rotten. The waitress was pretty good though. I would never go back there again. I think the hostess just put me in the bad mood for the whole evening. Pros: jumbo breaded shrimp Cons: service more

Good service, Ok Food 9/9/2008

My boyfriend and I went to the Sirloin Room on a Friday night, but the dining room wasn't very full at all. We were seated promptly. The complimentary bread was delicious--hot and soft. The salads were kind of bland with just iceberg lettuce and a few veggies thrown on top. Their ranch dressing was great though. I got the Steak of the Millenium and wasn't impressed. It was good, but I've had much better. My boyfriend had a bacon wrapped steak and wasn't impressed either. Their Au Gratin potatoes are to die for--cheesy, hot and delicious. Pros: Price, Au Gratin Potatoes, Service, Parking Cons: Steaks, salad more

Good but no great... 9/6/2008

I heard a bunch of good things from many people about this place. I loved everything about the place but the steak! I dont know exactly why the steak had no real flavor. Everything else was so good the bread, mushrooms, and the potatoes were great! The price was was very fair and server was great. Pros: Parking, service, price Cons: Ambience, steaks are very boring more

Excellent Resaurant 9/20/2005

This is a class act place. The service is very professional but not snobby in any way. The food is the reason to come here though. By the way if you like bread, they have the best appetizer bread I've ever had and the best part is it's complimentary. Go here for a great dinner and you won't be discouraged. Pros: service , food, atmosphere Cons: nothing, nothing, nothing more

Love Caspers! 7/24/2003

We love this place! The food is fantastic. The staff is on top of everything. Can't wait to visit again. Minnesota is a long way from Boston... but we'll be back! more

A Great Deal! 8/14/2002

This place is a great alternative to your more expensive and fancy steakhouses. The steak is top quality and very reasonably priced. The fish is also good. Add a bottle of wine for something special. The servers and overall environment was nice and but still casual. A great weekend dinner option. Pros: Price, Service, Casual more

We loved it! 8/7/2002

Our dinner was wonderful...try the Steak of the millenium or the the ribs!!! Super!!! And ""Mo"" was one of the best servers we ever had...she was so fun!!!! more
