Shrimp was great 8/10/2011

Went to Casey's July 16th. We had 8 in our group. Seated quickly. Everyone ordered seafood except for two kids who had cheeseburgers. Shrimp was great. Our waitress was quick to see to our needs- we didn't have to ask for anything. With a group of 8 tip was automatically added at 18%. We left extra because she was so good. We will be back. more

The key word here is SHRIMP. Casey's has the best in Galveston. Order them fried or grilled or chilled or large or small. All delicious, all reasonably priced. I travel often to Galveston and eat at Casey's every time. On my last visit, I went there for both lunch and dinner. The shrimp are that good! more

great staff and reasonable happy hour prices 8/3/2011

We spent four nights in Galveston for our anniversary. The first night we ate at Fish Tales and it was HORRENDOUS... everything cold, died on the pass, tasteless and bartender was rude and impatient. We went to Casey Gaido's the next night and liked it so much we went back the night after! First night we split seafood-stuffed jalapenos and the grilled seafood platter. All of it was very good. Next night I had the redfish which was to die for and my wife had Robert's shrimp which was also great. We had key lime cheesecake for dessert and it was fantastic. Good drinks, great staff and reasonable happy hour prices too. Highly reccomend Casey's if you want your fix of fresh seafood on the Gulf. more

Casey's was amazing 8/1/2011

Casey's was amazing. Their crab cakes are huge and delicious. It was my favorite place to eat during out entire trip! I actually went back twice because the gumbo was the best I had during the trip. You have to try the gumbo if you like gumbo! more

Superb service! 7/29/2011

Took the family to Casey's last night. Excellent dinner. Wife got the crab cakes and I got the blackened red fish. Delicious!!!! Great kid's menu!Superb service! I would recommend this place without hesitation more

Never again! 8/30/2010

I'm a local resident and have eaten here and Gaidos' many times. The past couple of years, things have been downhill at these two spots. Today my lunch was not as described on the menu, nor was it\r served hot. The manager told me the chef prepared my dish implying that I\r was wrong in even questioning the poor quality. He was a total jerk and I bet they'll be\r missing the locals this winter. more

Blah 4/9/2010

My husband and I walked halfway down the seawall because this place was recommended to us (obviously by someone who was confused). When we got there, pretty much all there was on the menu were burgers. We ordered two different burgers, from a waiter who barely spoke English at all. What we got was two burgers with nothing on them but soggy bread and tomatoes. When we tried to ask the waiter about it, he couldn't understand what we were saying and just kinda shrugged at us. Then we told them we were leaving at the register and explained the problem and they still charged us for our two beers. Never eat at Caseys. Blah. Pros: There was one waitress(not ours) who seemed apolagetic Cons: Almost Everything about this place sucked more

Impossible 10/17/2009

I called to place a to-go order and was informed, "" I can't take a to go order"" to which I replied, ""uhh okay, is the restaraunt full?"". The rude bartenders response was simply that he couldn't take a to-go order but I could come to the bar and place an order there. There were no apologies or even an explanation before I inquired as to why placing an order was not possible. After reading the poor reviews, maybe this was a blessing in disguise. I won't try again. Pros: I don't know. Cons: Rude more

NASTY NASTY NASTY!!!!!!!! 9/11/2009

I had the grilled fish and shrimp. You could tell the fish was fish because it was so fishy, the shrimp was less like grilled shrimp and more like shrimp jerky. My wife had the fried scallops and it looked like they were dug out of yesterdays trash rebreaded and refried, I didn't know a scallop could hold that much bread and grease! Cons: everything more

CRAPPY FOOD 8/17/2009

Went to Casey's on a recommendation from the staff at Moody Gardens. Got there, waitperson is new and can't take the order right. Food came out an hour and a half later. I got the baked blackened shrimp, fish and shrimp plate. Tasted like it had been cooked for an hour and a half in grease. My brother in law ordered a bottle beer. Waitperson came back with a glass of draft. Told him they poured the bottle beer in the glass, only to find out they were out of the bottle beer and subbed it with draft. All together we spent $200 on the meal, and everyone feels like throwing up. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME ON THIS PLACE! Pros: No Pros Cons: Lot's of Cons more

Disappointing 8/2/2008

We have been to Casey's a couple of times, based upon referrals from a few of our friends. However, both times we were disappointed with the quality and quantity of the seafood. Afterall, Galveston you would expect to have the freshest and best seafood, since the town is right on the Gulf. But Casey's just did not deliver quality seafood. I tried the soft shell crabs, and they were dismally small. My fiancee tried pasta with seafood atop of it on the last visit, and it was just nothing special.\r Lord, where do you go to find great seafood in this town? So far, we have not been impressed. And we are not hard-to-impress people. But we do know the difference between fresh fish, and frozen fish. Pros: Good Location Cons: Limited parking, mediocre seafood more

Service is hit-or-miss, food is delicious. 8/15/2007

I was at my parents' beach-house 2 weeks ago, and actually ended up eating here twice that week. The food was always delicious, but their waitstaff is so-so at best. They messed up sides several times on the first time (dinner), and the second time was entirely messed up (lunch). Dinner was less messed up overall, so maybe try them then. I think a lot of it has to do with their very young waitstaff. Their blackened redfish is phenomenal, the fried mushrooms are the best I've ever had (not greasy and good & firm), and the chowder is the first I've ever said I loved. In fact, I pretty much hate au gratin potatoes, but these are out of this world, too. Also, try their salad with the house dressing. It's all sooo good... assuming they get your order right. Overall, Casey's has great food at a good price, and the atmosphere is much more relaxed than neighbouring Gaido's... plus, if they mess your order up enough, they'll probably throw in free desert. We had enough people in our group, that we were able to get one of everything on the desert menu, and, I've got to say, it was ALL soooo good! Give it a try... it's behind the big shrimp on the Seawall. Pros: Redfish, mushrooms, chowder, house dressing, prices Cons: Service. more

Avoid the Seafood at Casey's 6/12/2007

We stopped into Casey?s one Sunday afternoon for some oysters (in season). After being seated a waitress final showed after 5-10 minutes. We then ordered a dozen on the half shell only to be told they didn?t have any. So we settled for a fried appetizer combo and some boiled shrimp, with a couple of beers. The boiled shrimp must have been cooked a day or two before and sat in water until they were served. They were mushy and tasteless; if you put enough horseradish in the cocktail sauce and used a healthy amount, the shrimp were semi-edible. The fried items were extremely greasy and apparently the grease was quite old. The most redeeming value was the cold beer. We walked away leaving the majority of the fried items and half the shrimp; but only after a $48.00 tab was paid.\r \r I recommend you stop in Kemah or Bay Cliff for seafood on the way down to Galveston, and spend your Galveston restaurant dollars on Pizza at Mario?s or brunch at The Galvez. Pros: Location, Beer, Parking Cons: Food, Value, Service more

hurried staff, so-so food 2/25/2007

I think this might be a better lunch place, but I would avoid for dinner. The fish had an off taste (they did take it off my bill, though), the waitress kept forgetting to bring sweetener for tea, ketchup for fries, etc. If you go, get something very local -- the gulf shrimp are okay. The fried mushrooms appetizer also isn't too bad. Also, sit outside -- much, much better view and ambiance! Pros: gulf shrimp, tea, fried mushrooms, outdoor dining Cons: all the other food, service, indoor dining more

The best seafood at a great price 3/20/2004

Casey's has the best seafood in Galveston for the price. They have a huge selection and awesome seafood. Their chicken gumbo is delicious, and I know someone who drives from Houston just for their creamy au gratin potatoes! Their desserts are pretty good too. Pros: Great food, Well priced, Great service more

Casey's is worth the drive from Houston. It has good atmosphere, food, and service. I highly recommend the stuffed shrimp, it was wonderful. more
