Everyone has a bad day now and again 10/16/2009

I have been to Carraba's several times, and generally been pleased. However, my most recent vist will be my last. I think my waiter was drunk or stoned or both. Not only did he forget my salad, but I was charged for it. My glass of tea sat empty for nearly my entire meal--despite me asking three times for a refil from three different waiters. It would be understandable if the resturant were busy, but the dining room was fairly empty. The worst part--most embarrassing-- was when one waiter yelled and cursed at another about how he was not going to sweep her section. Management was polite enough to remove the salad from the check, but still gave me a hard time about it. I am pretty sure I will not be back. Pros: Bread Cons: Questionable Service more

See you ""Marinara"" 12/1/2008

I have been eating at Carrabba's since I was younger. The original one in Houston has so much ambience and character. The location here has more of a traditional Italian restaraunt atmosphere, but the food is EXCELLENTE!\r I prefer to create my own dish~~simple yet pleasing to the pallet. Penne pasta, marinara sauce and mozz cheese baked on top. AKA: Baked Penne. \r Their sauce is so mouth watering....I always ask for extra. \r The Fried Mozz is delizioso.....Calamari is so flavorful and the Italian Salad is THE BEST in Town!\r I would eat there every day if I could........that must be the Italian in me talking. :)\r Great for a romatic dinner for two or bring the ""folla"" ......dinner is ON! Pros: you never leave hungry Cons: wish my stomach was larger! more

A true classic 8/8/2008

Out of all the italian places here in San Antonio, I like this restaurant. The service is always good and the food always hot. Went there for a Sunday lunch and the place was hopping. The mussels in a lemon garlic butter sauce was divine. The calamari was crispy and light. Although we didn't like the homemade chicken soup...it was too salty. The pasta is always cooked aldente, never overcooked and mushy. And the portions are good. You will not leave this place hungry. The waiter maded sure we had warm bread on the table constantly and our tea was glass was never empty. Even though we were stuffed the waiter was nice enough to introduced us to the new dessert sampler trio, he was informative, friendly and provided quick service. Starters can make a great entree. Weekdays they are only open for dinner and the weekends they open around noon for lunch. It is a little pricey, but a great treat for a special occasion. Pros: Hot food, great service, good portions Cons: Wait can be long at busy times, not open for lunch everyday more

Great 4/2/2007

I love this place. We go every chance we get. I highly recommend the Steak Marsala with garlic mashed potatoes. The Zuccinni appi is great. Pros: Everything Cons: Do call ahead seating, sometimes there is a long wait more

A real winner. Great food every time. 6/11/2006

This restaurant is part of a small, family-owned chain. We've never been disappointed and always been delighted with everything we've eaten here. Although the wait-staff tends to be young, they're quite well-trained and helpful. \r \r The bread is some of the best I've ever eaten, and the soups are always fresh, hot and flavorful. They seem to get just as much attention as the entrees - never the concoctions of yesterday's leftovers that many restaurants seem to serve.\r \r The Italian entrees have been unfailingly delicious and well-prepared. Everything has always been served hot (cold or lukewarm food is a real peeve of mine.)\r \r Although its not a steakhouse, Carraba's serves some of the best steak I've eaten anywhere. Always fresh, flavorful and perfectly cooked to order.\r \r If you're having dessert, try the vanilla ice cream with the brandied cinnamon pecan sauce. Incredible. The staff have even boxed up extra sauce or loaves of the incredible bread for us when we've asked.\r \r All in all, a model restaurant. They should be proud. more

Great Night Out 5/10/2003

This is our extended family's favorite restaurants to go out to celebrate an event. They were able seat 15 of us on a Friday in a reasonable time after we got there. The food was the best as always and the service was tremendous. We love the herbs served with the olive oil and they have the best bread served warm. The wait for the table due to the party size is worth it. Pros: Large Selection, Great Service Cons: Crowded, Parking Hard more
