Too Bad You Can't Order Like Other Restaurants!!! 4/15/2011

We haven't been to Carmona's in a long time and it's because you can't order a meal to be picked up without using a credit card. We can order at any other restaurant in Terrell and anywhere else by just leaving our name and phone number. Because of this we will not be going back there and that's too bad because we ususally spend over $60 per meal or more when we order out. Guess they can afford to lose the business. Why can't they conduct business like other restaurants? more

Extremely poor customer service on the admin level 3/5/2010

While this ""cantina"" has an attractive atmosphere and the wait staff are excellent, the customer service is lousy on the administrative level. I have eaten at Carmona's many times in the past 5 years with groups from my office. We have had informal lunches with fewer than 6 people as well as larger groups of approx. 20. I base this opinion on many instances, but will site you three incidences of ""the kitchen"" not making any attempt to satisfy customers. Keep in mind I tip at 20% and am very courteous because I have 2 daughters that have waited tables throughout school. \r \r Today, I ordered one enchilada and one taco, al a carte. When they came, it had 2 tablespoons of enchilada sauce on the enchilada. I looked at my compares’ plates, their enchiladas were floating in sauce so I asked the waitress if I could have a small dish of sauce; she came back from the kitchen to inform me they would charge me $1.25 for this and I am talking about 4 or 5 tablespoons of sauce! \r \r At Christmas, my husband and I ate lunch there while shopping at the local mall. We ordered beef fajita nachos. The meat was obviously yesterday's left over’s as it was extremely tough and dry. We requested the nachos to be replaced with ""fresh"" fajita meat. The waitperson returned from the kitchen, stated ""we won't make you new nachos"". Unbelievable!\r \r Another time, my husband ordered mixed fajitas; the beef was so tough he could not chew it. We asked to have it replaced with chicken, once again, ""the kitchen"" said no!\r \r I must assume Ricky Carmona makes enough money to turn a great profit off of travelers, as this is located on an interstate highway. Were he concerned with customer service, he would realize how little it actually takes to make a customer happy.\r Pros: nice atmosphere for the area Cons: Bad food, bad customer relations more

Wonderful food and Service! 2/9/2010

My husband and I had talked a few times about stopping to eat at Carmonas on our way to Shreveport. - regret that we never took the time before.I was astonished that it was family owned. The food was incredible and I am an extremely picky eater. I have never been to a restaurant where I felt compelled to call the manager to the table to gush about the service. Our waiter was fantastic. This is officially our new spot.I highly recommend the fajitas and the queso. Don't pass up the chance to eat at Carmona's. more

good food small portions 11/5/2009

The food here remains good, the service was very good. My coffee cup stayed full, as well as the chip basket and the food arrived promptly. However the portion size was very very small. Dinner was served on what used to be the luncheon menu plates. I cringe to think what they are using for lunch now. I ordered the Loreado which comes with fajaita meat. It arrived with 6 small pieces of meat, served over a very small portion of rice and a bowl of beans. If you come here hungry plan to fill up on chips and salsa. Also note the price was not reduced to match the reduced portion size. more

TERRIBLE!! 8/10/2008

If you want good mexican food DO NOT give your money to Carmonas!!! The food is very bad its all the cheapest food products, not seasoned, small plates, and outrageous prices for the amount of food. DO NOT eat the chili relleno. It taste like soggy plastic made days before! Their bar is terrible, they charge 7 bucks for the cheap well alcohol, 14 for a double and its weak. Their draft beer is always sour! They obviously need to make the most amount of money for cheap products. The staff is great, considering they work the lunch and night shift doubles six days a week. That's because their to cheap to hire more employees and no one wants to work for them!! They make their employees pay for food they accidentally ring in on the computer even if the food is not made, any table that walks out, and even food they accidentally drop. The owners show no shame in flaunting their money either that they are making on the expense of others. The employees don't get anything for Christmas or Thanksgiving not even a bag of Christmas cookies. The owners are so rude to the employees. I have seen the owner whistle to make the servers come to him! The owners are so cheap they make the servers save the tea that has been sitting out all day because they are so hard up! They even try to get the employees to pay $1.00 for wasted salsa they poured for a customer. I will never give my money to this restaurant because of my experience eating there, and what previous employees that have quit have told me. Pros: Good wait staff Cons: everything more

Totally average on food quality, good atmosphere though. 4/22/2007

Come for the dirty tables, stay for the mediocre food. :) \r \r I stopped in about a week ago to see what this place was like. All in all, it was totally average. The veggies on my plate were squishy and over-seasoned. I get the feeling that they get them frozen, then thaw them out and then season them on a flat iron grill. The mexican rice was well prepared, but too salty. The chicken was another deal entirely. Cut paper thin, (San Luis Chicken) and I mean THIN, imagine if you took a chicken breast, butterflied it, then butterflied the butterfly chop, that's what we are looking at here. It had a slightly gamey, oily texture on the thinner parts as well, similar to the thin cut chicken you see in stiry fry. As a matter of fact, if it were splashed with soy sauce and dusted with sesame seeds, it would have fit right in at any Chinese eatery. \r \r Service: Gets a polite golf clap of approval. The waiter took our order, left.....eventually came back and asked us again as he had forgotten it. Ooopsie. After that, my iced tea was refilled every time I set it down. And I mean EVERY time I set it down. He was probably a new waiter and was trying way too hard. \r \r When I first arrived, there was stuff everywhere, broken remnants of chips along the lines of the booth and underneath the tables, as well as in te seat of the booth itself. I got the feeling that they had just finished off a major rush and were desperately trying to catch up. Which they did about halfway through my meal. \r \r Enchiladas: Taste like they have been stuffed with Wolf Brand Chili. That is no joke guys. lol \r \r Overall: They have sacrificed a lot in the way of food quality in favor of easy prepare meals. This could be an indication of an inexperienced kitchen staff or a deliberate cut on behalf of management. Either way, I should have stopped in at Applebee's right next door. Pros: Great atmosphere, nice decor and music. Cons: Uninspired food, too much seasoning. more
