Caren's Grooming Salon

We have been using Carens for about 3 years now and I know others who have used them and have never had any problems. Perhaps those that have had negative experiences should look a bit closer to home at their pets and how they tend to their pet themselves and how their pet reacts. My shih tzu hates to take a bath but Noreen manages to groom him beautifully every time and has been doing so since he was about 12 weeks old. Yes the facility is a bit older looking but it is clean and well kept up, the animals appear to be well cared for and I have never heard of any animal getting hurt or dying there as some are trying to say. I used to live right up the road. I now drive from the airport to take our baby to see Noreen as I would never consider taking him anywhere else. As I said on another review the business appears to be growing and thriving with so many repeat / returning customers its a wonder they haven't had to expand the facility yet. I say keep up the good work Carens! And let the difficult people with the mean or difficult animals go somewhere else. more

I have taken my dogs there now for almost 12 years, and they are very caring, and always inform me if they feel my dog should see my vet soon for skin problems or ear infection. Also, my dogs have had issues - one too timid and one was very aggresive when touched, but I always found that when my dogs go there, they are handled in the correct way , and they are always groomed to my satisfaction, and not traumatized while there. I would never take my dog anywhere else. I only trust Caren's Grooming.. more

Yes,my dog, Nikita passed away at the salon.She was just fine when i took my dog in.When called to let me know the grooming was complete,i was not advised that there was anything wrong so i walked from my house to the grooming salon(5 minutes away). I paid for the grooming plus tips,upon arrival Nikita was lacking energy,motionless,not being able to stand up or walk on her own.If i had been told earlier,I would have rushed her by car to my vet and possibly saved her.Losing Nikita has broken my hart as she was very much a part of the family.I understand that she might passed away without notice,but it really disapponts me that i was not given the chance to save my pet. more

I dropped my yorkie there for the first time. I wanted to leave b/c the place was a mess and sketchy but the woman was real friendly so i left him. I asked for a cut, about half trimmed. When i picked him up, he was damn near shaved, he looked so small and sad. The guy who cut said under his arms he had knots so he had to CUT everywhere else to even it ?!?!?! I took my teacup yorkie here after having some negative experiences elsewhere. They did a great job on him, and took time to talk with me about his care at home in a courteous, professional manner. This is the first time I've ever taken him to the groomer, and found him happy when I returned. He's usually very upset and sulks the rest of the day. Recently went there on a recommendation by my neighbor. Our dog is 15 1/2 and requires special attention and needs to be in and out ASAP with no caging. When he was ready for pick up (45 minutes later) his smile showed he was in good hands. The TEAM at Caren's was professional, courteous and LISTENED to my instructions. I am not an easy owner to please and I will be back! Would have given them more stars than the 5! Thank you. ps The place was CLEAN and smelled clean! I took my persian cat there for a grooming and not only did it take ALL day not the hour they promised, but they charged way more than I was quoted and they did a horrible job. He was uneven all over. They left him in they carrier for so long he pee'ed on him self so when i got him home I had to give him yet another bath. This place is HORRIBLE. Please do not take you pet to Carens. more

I've have been taking my dog(s) to Caren's for several years now and have never experienced any problems. The shop definitely has a ""worn"" look about it but don't let that deter you! Always clean and no bad smells, doesn't even smell like ""wet dog"". They've always been quite busy when I've been there but I have never had a problem getting an appt (I end up calling the day before, really, I'm bad about it) They've never taken more than 1-2 hours to get my boy done, and the price is more than right. I've always been pleased with the care my dog has received there and have always found the owner and the other workers there quite friendly. Kudos to Marta for always doing a fantastic job with my dog, she's great! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Caren's to any of my dog owner friends. The absolute worst customer service I have ever received. I made an 11:00am appointment the day before I brought my dog in to be groomed. When I went to drop my dog off . I asked the girl that was going to groom my dog how long it was going to be? She told me an hour and a half. I came back one hour and a half later and my dog was still sitting in the crate not touched. When I asked why he was not done she replied, it was because she had to go to lunch. I asked her, why then do people make an appointment if my dog can sit there for an hour and a half and still not be touched and that is when I was told he would be ready for pick up.?This was about the time a man yelled at me from a stool that he was sitting on and never even bothered to get up to speak to me. He yelled, with a nasty tone in his voice. Well ,what do you want us to do sometimes we get back up. This was right after the girl told me the reason that my dog was not even out of the crate yet was because she had to eat lunch. I told the man that I thought he was rude and that I will never return to this place again. That is when he pick my dog up and started walking back and forth with my dog because at that point he could not find my dog's leash. I told him to give me my dog that I was leaving. He then proceded to follow me out the door and made a rude comment to me which I did not understand. I have taken my dog there for over a year now but I will never go back again. The service is beyond deplorable. more

I will never take my dog back to Caren's grooming salon. The employees were very rude and disrespectful. I told them that my dog didn't like for people to touch his face so just wash it as much as they could. My dog was also matted so I needed him to be shaved. They shaved his body and his face and of course my dog flipped out. They called me when it was time to pick him up and acted like I treat my dog bad because I let him get matted and that is why he was freaking out. I told them no, he was freaking out because they shaved his face even though I told them not to. Sorry, but my dog is not a show dog. He likes to run around and play with other dogs. Matting happens which is why I took him to the groomer so they could fix it. The employees were very rude about the situation. Please do not take your pet to Caren's Grooming.
