Best

For at least 10 years I have had the pleasure of knowing the little neighborhood secret that is Caramba Cafe. I have been there at least 100 times and the food has always been fan...

Worst

Mia is a hoot. YOu cant expect her to always be happy or friendly. Thats what cracks me up about CArumba. But the food is good, try the mexican pizza and the salsa rocks...

Yummy! 10/9/2008

For at least 10 years I have had the pleasure of knowing the little neighborhood secret that is Caramba Cafe. I have been there at least 100 times and the food has always been fantastic. \r \r They craft a stellar margarita and have a staggering range of choices so that you can get the cocktail of your dreams. \r \r It is a lively family atmosphere that I can never get enough of. \r \r And who doesn't Love the Loves? Pros: Friendly neighborhood atmosphere more

Where EVERYONE is part of the family! 10/8/2008

Having lived in Atlanta for the past 5 years I have to say this is my favorite place to eat, in the city and especially to bring someone that's never been before or is visiting from out of town. Why? Because no matter if you've been there 100 times, or it's your first time, the staff and owners always make you feel as if you are part of the family AND you will have an AMAZING meal! Not sure what to have? Try whatever the daily special is (if it's not SOLD OUT due to popularity!) and you will be guaranteed a memorable meal! \r There is a reason so many people are such regulars! \r (and don't forget to try the Margarita's...they will knock you on your ..... BUT nobody does them better!!) Pros: Food, Service, and MARGARITA'S! Cons: it's popular, so order a margarita if you have to wait! more

A fine family & a fine restaraunt!! 10/8/2008

we have had the pleasure of knowing mia, brian, rachel, george, georgey, & mikah for years. they are good people and good friends. furthermore, the food and drinks at caramba cafe are excellent. we have eaten there probably 1000 times in the last 10 years and have never grown tired of it.\r \r i am sorry to see that others have chosen to take cheap shots anonymously over the internet at them. at the end of the day they were trying to give a troubled young man a chance at getting his life together by providing him with a good paying job. it is unfortunate that it had to end this way, but that's life in the restaraunt buisness.\r \r i highly reccomend this establishment to you and your family. it is a wonderful environment that is always accomadating for children. mia & rachel love kids and consistently go out of their way to entertain families so the kids can have fun and the parents can relax.\r \r so bring the familia and your appetite. the best mexican food in town hands down! Pros: great food & margaritas Cons: gets a little crazy on friday nights more

For Our ""Family"" 10/7/2008

We have just become aware of some recent reviews posted and are very concerned and saddened. We felt that it was best that we responded, including some background, and our assurance that the problem has been addressed. \r \r At Caramba Cafe', our patrons are much more than customers, they are neighbors, friends and family. We take pride in being a family owned and operated business and love our patrons as family. In that spirit, we took in a young man who needed a job and support and guidance. We have been trying very hard to help him. We can not do so, however, when it damages our very reason for being in business, a good relationship with our patrons. Therefore, this young man will no longer be working at Caramba Cafe'. \r \r Please, we ask that you all share with us your likes and dislikes, your good reviews and your bad, and we promise to always act promptly to address the concerns of our 'family.""\r \r Sincerely,\r \r Caramba Cafe' more

shrimp fajita salad and queso are the best! 10/7/2008

I LOVE Carumba's food and atmosphere. It truly is the only place in Atlanta, much less Virginia Highlands that is family owned and operated. I can only go on my experience, and the food and service has always been very good. This does not mean with its sometimes party atmosphere , the energy does not get taken up a notch with personalities from customers as well as family and staff, but to me that is part of the pleasure of eating at Carumba. If I wanted a mexican restaurant with no character, I have many options. I can not even imagine what the neighborhood would be with out them. Caramba, you have a loyal patron for life!!! more

One bad apple does not ruin the bunch 10/6/2008

I've been going to Caramba Cafe for over 10 years and have experienced nothing less than stellar service. I can tell you that to the extent that I did - I would address it directly with management/owners instead of posting a negative email on a website so I could ensure that something could be done. I can assure you that once the owners are aware - they will handle this situation as they have with any complaint that I have ever seen them receive in the years that I have been a patron. In the meantime, I look forward to continued great service, awesome food and mouth-watering magaritas! more

Worst Service EVER 10/3/2008

I had the worst service I have ever had at a restaurant in Atlanta. GA. Our waiter did not come to our table after he took our order. We sat with empty drinks and chips until our food arrived. We never got our check and when we finally did get the opportunity to get our check he was arrogant and acted as if was our responsibility. We have both waited tables in Atlanta for years and could have done a better job ourselves.\r Pros: Close to home Cons: Terrible service more

Dankest Mexican Food Around... 4/5/2007

I've enjoyed every meal I've had at Caramba Cafe, the food hits your Mexican craving right on. The staff is friendly and not intrusive (except with the chips and salsa)...and last time I was there two of the waitresses joined me in a shot for the heck of it. I make to Caramba as often as I yearn for good Mexican grub ...at least once a week (if only they were open for breakfast and lunch ;) )...there's a regular who likes to park his red 'vette in front of the door, the plate reads EXPENSIV...always a good laugh in addition to the great meal. Pros: Dank Food Cons: Not open for breakfast or lunch more

HORRIBLE SERVICE 9/20/2006

Apparently only regulars must get great service. The place is poorly run, you have to wait 15 minutes before anyone ever comes to your table and then to get your check; forget it...I had to go up to the waitress after waiting for it for over 40 minutes and then she had an attitude for me even asking. Absolutely ridiculous and the place wasn't even filled. The management there are actually worse than the actual staff. Only friends and people who come in almost every week get special attention. Horrible Pros: food Cons: SERVICE more

authentic VA-Highlands, perfect margaritas 9/16/2006

My husband and I enjoy dining at Caramba at least once a week. As Atlanta newcomers from San Diego, we *love* the margaritas, chips, salsa, and quacamole. The tacos al carbon are divine (if we make it to a proper 'dinner' after gorging on always-full chips and salsa. I have found the service excellent, and I appreciate the personal attention from the owner, in all her spiciness. Mid-week crowds are thinner, and expect to wait 15 minutes for a table from 7 to 8pm on weekends. But with margaritas in hand, and a lively and local bar crowd, who's complaining! Pros: personality, incredible margarita selection, lai*d-back latino pace Cons: lai*d-back latino pace more

Horrible-worst service in ATL 2/14/2006

I recently made a trip to Caramba Cafe. The service and management have to be the absolute worst that I have ever experienced. My order was completely wrong as usual, and when I went to check it to make sure, I got YELLED at by the manager. She screamed at me ""What are you doing!?"" Another previous visit the manager did nothing to solve my issues with my order..this happend while she was walking around the restaurant with a child in her arms!? She told me that her servers and cooks were too busy to fix my order. I have had it with this place, especially with the lady that manages this place. I'm telling all my friends to never visit this establishment. On top of the negative reviews on Cityserach, and the horrible review in Creative Loafing, I reccommend that NO ONE visits Caramba. Pros: nothing Cons: everything more

Good Food / Terrible Service 12/28/2005

I live close by and love Mexican food. I've been there a few times during the day and the male staff has waited on me and were good, but every time I go during the evening I seem to get the older woman owner to wait on us. She is TERRIBLE! She is extremely rude every time I go. God forbid you want a refill of chips for the $5 ceso. After reading the reviews others have left it seems I'm not the only one who gets crappy service. If the ownership is smart they would fire this person or keep them away from the customers. I can walk to this restaurant, but am considering driving to find a place where I'm treated better. Pros: Good food Cons: Rude Sevice, Margaritas too tart. more

Good Food/Awful service and management 10/6/2005

While the food is good and the margaritas are fine, the service is so bad and the management/owners are unapologetic. This restaurant is right down the street from us and we avoid it like the plague. We complained that once the food was served that we were not visited by anyone for the remainder of the meal. None of our drinks were refreshed nor were any drink orders taken. When we talked to the manager(I think she was the owner) we basically got ""What do you want me to do about it? C'mon!"" That is unacceptable. There are plenty of better places with better food and pleasant staff. Also if your tip reflects the poor service, she'll yell at you...I cannot believe they're still in business. Pros: Food Cons: Everything else more

User review by johnsmith1776 8/20/2005

After a very unimpressive meal with fairly terrible service, I left a 10% tip on the check. As my party was walking out the door, the manager lady came charging after us yelling, ""What's wrong with you people? Why you only tip 10 percent! Get back here you cheapskates!"" Nobody could believe it was happening. It was really horrifying, and needless to say, we won't be back... Pros: nice neighborhood Cons: spotty service, rude manager, average food more

Lousy service and attidue 7/25/2005

I signed up just to write this review. I was highly dissapointed in how we were treated at Caramba Cafe. We were seated right away, but then nobody came to take our order. We ended up having to ask for a server, which we finally got, but once our order was taken they never came back. If anyone wanted another drink they had to go to the bar and order and pay for it there. I had to go to the bar to find/pay for our check. When I (pleasantly) mentioned that nobody had been by to check on us, there was no apology and a lot of attitude. We were told to ""Come on, cut us a break"" and it felt like we had become the bad guys. No one from our party wants to go back, which is a shame because we love neighborhood restaurants and Mexican food. Cons: service more

Excellent! 7/9/2005

My husband and I go here almost once a week. Great food and great drinks! Nice staff! Great value. Pros: food, price, service more

Follow Mia to Caramba Cafe for great margaritas! 5/30/2005

At Caramba Cafe everyone is treated like family. The margaritas are the best in Atlanta and the food (especially the cheese dip!) is fresh and deelish! I've been coming here for many years and have made many wonderful friendships during that time. The Prieto family is delightful and has a warm welcome for everyone. The only problem is that I like to sit at the bar and it's sometime so crowded that I have to stand and wait for a seat...but it's worth the wait! Pros: GREAT MARGARITAS, GREAT FOOD, GREAT AMBIANCE more

A+ All Around! 5/23/2004

Every time I go to Caramba Cafe I get great food, great service and great margaritas! La familia is truly felt all the way around. If you know good food and what a good margarita taste like, you'll highly recommend it too. Pros: affordable, delicious, memorable Cons: , crowded more

Great Margarita, Good Food 5/22/2004

Large Margarita menu contains the best Margaritas in Atlanta. The everyday Mexican food is always hot, the table service has been great and the prices are low. Good cheap restaurants are few and far between in Atlanta. Caramba Cafe is one of them. Pros: Inexpensive, Good service more

Worth the trip. 11/14/2002

I have never been disappointed with the daily special. Ever. Thus, I highly recommend it. Additionally, the fresh margaritas are excellent. I highly recommend this place. Pros: margaritas, daily special more
