Great Service, cool vibes. a clean refreshing place to relax and enjoy food and company 2/21/2008

While eating at The Ketch, I experienced friendly and quick service, delicious food, and a memorable experience. The level of professionalism really adds to the experience of eating at a four star restaurant. My daughter and i had gone there for lunch one day and, I had the Crispy Calamari followed by the Santa Fe Chicken salad. And for desert i had the Warm Fruit Cobbler with a scoop of ice cream on the side, my daughter had the portabello crab melt, which was amazing, and the Grilled Salmon, followed by the Apple Puff w/ ice cream. A wonderful way to end a delicious meal. Our waitress was very attentive and humorous, not to mention adorable. On my way out walked passed the bar, where you could apparently have lunch as well. From the looks of it, it was quite packed. I'll let you guys know what the food there is like once i have a chance to try it out. Ciao for now! more

Intimidating on the Surface but SO Inviting once youre in. 10/11/2007

The place was made for the Wall street and surrounding business honchos, That explains the suits and ties everywhere but thats just an influence of the neighborhood. This place is one of the classiest friendliest places Ive visited in new york. The calamari,.. wow,. and the wine selection are what keep me coming back whenever I can with friends. Ive even spoken to the owners who stay nights and they're down to earth and accommodating in every way. Dining room is a very pleasant place to shut out Manhattan noise while having a fantastic meal. Choosing from the menu has to be the biggest con because the items are very elaborate but talk to the friendly wait staff and you'll be choosing a plate I promise you cant finish. Lunch time is busier than dinner, I guess because its in the financial district but that just keeps me wanting to take my friends there so we can be regulars. Their fish is GODLY! haha, I take my friends and family there all the time, in conclusion Its a very welcoming place with the food and drinks to keep you there. Its definitely one of downtown Manhattan's best kept little secrets. Pros: Treatment, Food, Drinks Cons: Hidden Location, Elaborate Menu more

Lovely setting, less lovely food. 8/1/2007

We went after work because it looked pretty fancy inside and had an interesting menu. The restaurant is well layed out and was promising for a romantic meal. We had great glasses of wine, but while the food was good, it just didn't live up to the promise of the setting and the service. It seems that maybe that it's the catering to a male Wall Street diner because the portions are big and maybe too pre-prepared. I keep wanting to try again but afraid that it will be a disappointing second try. Pros: Nice decor, great bar. Cons: So-so food. more

Great Happy Hour Place 6/12/2007

The atmosphere here is decidedly "un-wall st." which I love. The inside of this place feels like a trendy hotel bar which I love as well. Drinks is fantastic with first rate bartenders. Munchies are very good as well. Can't comment much on the food but, love this place for after-work drinks. Seems like a good place to take and impress clients as well. Pros: Not Too Packed more

Lovely Financial District Restaurant 12/31/2006

After being turned away from three of our usual eateries due to Christmas parties, we called The Captain's Ketch to see if they could accommodate us. We'd wandered by it before but had never eaten there. They told us to come on by and we're glad we did. Though there WAS a Christmas party going on, it was in its own room (and the setup was quite nice - everyone seemed to be having fun and their private bar & food stations made us envious). Both the host and our server were friendly. The "upscale nautical" atmosphere is quite pretty and soothing. The shiraz by the glass was superb - we meant to write it down. My lobster ravioli was excellent but my husband's crab cakes were a bit dry - they needed a sauce. We'll definitely return. more

Very Good basic food in an area that lacks just that. 11/16/2006

The atmosphere is calm quiet and releaxed. THe food was pretty good. Nothing to rant and rave about, but none-the-less good. more

Wonderful lunch spot in Financial District 2/16/2006

I loved lunch here so much that I decided to have my graduation party here in May. The restaurant's bar and dining area has been recently renovated and the modren decor is lovely. The crabcakes are a must and the Fra diavolo is excellent. It is truly a gem in an area filled with pizza joints and fast food places! more
