After moving to Minneapolis last year, I haven't found a single salon that compares to the talented team at M Squared. I've been going to Stephanie for a few years now, and still do whenever I'm back in New England. Her cuts and color are top notch...beating out (over priced) Newbury St. salons in Boston. Whenever I've tried a drastic new cut, or different color (highlights, all over color), I'm always thrilled. She listens to her clients and provides honest guidance for amazing results! \r I used to drive an hour south for appointments before...and I'm not ashamed to travel 1000+ miles now. more

I followed Steven from another salon and he has been cutting and coloring my hair for years. I would describe him as very professional, meticulous, and always on top of the latest hair trends and cutting techniques. I have had many people come up to me and ask me who does my hair, and that in itself speaks volumes of Steven. At some point in time, all of the stylists have worked on my hair - and I can say the same about all of them; they are top-notch professionals in their field and you would be in good hands with any of them. The salon is beautiful, trendy & hip, and everyone there makes you feel comfortable. It is by far the best salon in Rhode Island. more

\r \r I travel often and while away I always book a washed and dried in whatever city I visit. Whether it be Miami, NewYork, San Francisco, LA , Chicago or DC and every stylist RAVES about my cut. Not just a passing comment but they bring other stylist over always asking ""Who cuts our hair, it's gorgeous etc.""\r Recently, in Florence and Rome I experienced the same behavior from some very stlylish salons....all were abuzz over my cut. BRAVO Michael. Pros: Stlyist listen to you and then recommend. Plus my husband loves to come with me....lots of places for espresso in the neighborhood. more

Met Steven at another salon. Followed him to M Squared and am glad I did. He is *very* gentle with hair, a perfectionist, very professional, and you can tell he loves his job!! NO ONE has EVER treated my hair the way he does nor has it ever looked so good nor so healthy!! \r I have been to upscale salons and had the Owners as my hairdressers and nothing is like Steven! \r M Squared has the best hair professionals on staff and the environment is peaceful, professional, and just right~ I don't think it can be any better. Seriuosly. \r Pros: Location, Talented professional Staff, honest, QUALITY hair products!! No rush. Cons: None that I can think of more

I have been searching for someone to color and style my hair to perfection and I have finally found it! Try this place and You will never need to go anywhere else again. Just like the previous reviewer, my two teenage daughters have followed our stylist to M Squared. Stephanie Shea has done all of our hair for four years, and we would follow her anywhere! Ariana(sp?) manages an excellent salon, and we love the new location. Now when we get our hair done we make an afternoon of it on Federal Hill. Pros: Excellent stylist both cut and color, great location Cons: None! more

For years i had been going to a tempermental, unprofessional and erratic yet highly talented stylist, thinking i needed to put up with being double booked, having appointments cancelled at the last minute and a prima donna attitude in order to get a great haircut. Was i wrong! A friend turned me onto M2 and I am so glad I went. From the minute I walked in the door, I was treated as a valued customer. I was offered a drink and the friendly receptionist took my coat. My appointment was with Devon. It started on time, (!). Devon took some time to talk to me about what I wanted and offered a number of excellent suggestions for ways to make me, and my hair, more attractive. She was warm and very easy to talk to. I was getting two colors of highlights and a cut. Devon was effecient and very professional. She made the whole experinece a joy. The color and cut were, and are, excellent. All the stylists at M2 sent their customers out the door looking fabulous. I am very pleased with my hair, more so than I have been in years. I highly highly recommend M2 and especially Devon. I am now a dedicated customer. Thank you to all the staff at M2 for making my experience wonderful. I'll be back... more

My two teenage daughters and I followed Devan from another salon to M Squared because we love the way she does our hair! At my last visit I told Devan I wanted a hair makeover and after listening to me babble about my ideas she managed to make sense of it all and gave me the exact cut I was looking for and a new, rich looking color. She's an expert and I trust her judgment! Not to mention she is adorable and a pleasure to chat with! The salon is in a great location and the decor is tasteful and classy. The atmosphere is warm and friendly with alot of positive energy and attentive service. I highly recommend it!! more

My husband has been looking for a great ""barber"" for a long time and he finally found one yesterday. Steven at MSquared Salon gave him the best mens cut he has had in a long time. Working in the Federal Hill area, I must say that I am thrilled that a salon of this caliber finally landed on Atwells Ave. The decor matches everything about its location- classy, upscale and elegant. Coming back to Rhode Island from New York wasn't easy. When I starting looking for a salon, I was told about M Squared. The salon was a perfect fit for me, very trendy and the staff was great. My stylist was Stephanie and I was so impressed with my cut and color. I would highly recommend the salon and Stephanie to anyone!! more

I visited M Squared Salon on Federal Hill in Providence for the first time today after being referred to Laurie. My experience was excellent.! Laurie is an expereinced hair stylist with a keen sense. She listened to me and was very patient so that together we decided on the right cut. She gave me pointers on styling and demonstrated what to do at home so that I could recreate the same look . The salon was bright , cheerful and friendly . I would give the salon 5 stars!! more

I went to M Squared Salon last night for the first time. I followed the two stylists I LOVED from their previous salon so I already new I would be getting a fabulous cut or color when I went. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of Federal Hill and the salon itself looks fantastic. Trendy without going overboard and as relaxing as a salon should be. The atmosphere is fun and lively, while remaining totally professional. Michael M., one of the owners, has been cutting and coloring my hair for years. He is amazing. I consistently have the exact cut I'm looking for and my color is flawless. Friends who've complimented my on my hair and checked him out have immediately become loyal clients themselves. If you're not sure what you want to do with your hair, Michael will spend the time with you to figure out what would work best. (Less important as a stylist, but still impressive...Michael has an uncanny ability to pick the winner of reality T.V. shows by the second episode. It may not be the reason to choose your stylist, but it sure gives you lots to chat about while you're in the chair!). \r Devan is also fabulous. You think you've died and gone to heaven when she is washing your hair as she will give you the BEST scalp massage ever. If I ever win the lottery, I'm hiring her to come to my house every morning! She's cut and colored my hair and given me the smoothest blowouts you'll ever get, (and believe me, I have some VERY curly hair). \r Ariana, the other owner is front and center and often the voice on the other end of the phone when you make your appt. She somehow recognizes my voice from the hundreds of others who call and always does her best to find the days and times I'm looking for. She will also transform you for a special occasion by doing your makeup, or help you to create a new everyday look. \r Next up...I'm checking out their Keratin straightening process. I just went to M squared for the first time. I followed my hairstylist (Devan) when she moved there. The salon is very beautiful and has a great lively atmosphere. They are so friendly and accomadating. Devan is the best hairstylist I have ever had. She always knows exactly how to cut my hair to make it more manageable and she always does the exact cut I want and need. She also matches my hair color perfectly and people always compliment me after I have had my hair done with her. Something I noticed with M squared that I haven't seen in many hair salons is that all the sylists seem have fun together but still remain totally professional. Things like that really do have a huge effect on the salon environment and the quality of the service. I would recommend this salon to anybody. Pros: atmosphere, stylists, affordable more

M Squared is a great salon! Everyone who works at M Squared is extremely friendly and professional, and every customer that I have seen leaving the salon looks amazing.
