I had the HDR Brachytherapy for my advanced stage prostrate cancer in 2001. Eight years later, I am convinced that I could never have made a better choice of doctor, treatment or hospital for handling my serious illness. Everyone was very professional and demonstrated a sincere interest in caring for me. I can recommend Dr. Flynn and CTCA to anyone without reservation. In response to the one review of CTCA, I would like to clarify that the administrators are not medical professionals so it should not suprise you that your experience was like talking to a brick wall. I can say with certainty, that the actual care given by the medical professionals is second to none. Many patients arrive at CTCA with a grim diagnosis; many are given only months to live according to their previous physicians. This is where the medical (and I mean medical, not administrative) teams thrive. The patient is treated on many levels, physically, mentally, emotionally, and if they so choose, spiritually. The medical oncologists are excellent, and specifically the surgical oncologist on staff is one of the best in the world. Patients arrive from worldwide destinations into little old Tulsa for the caregiving that CTCA provides. You will not receive better cancer treatment at any other facility in the U.S. Now, as far as the administration goes, I'm sure that you will find others who have had a similar experience to your own. Please do not judge the medical care by the response you have received from administration. Administrators are business people, not caregivers. One last thought; the physicians themselves have very little to do with scheduling appointments, so once again I would blame those in management. Call the toll free number, and complain about your experience. Hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised at the response you receive. There is no way I'm going to list the over 20 different errors the Cancer Treatment Center has made in my mother's treatment but examples are that we show up for appointments that doctors don't know about, miss others that we didn't know about and do not get our phone calls returned. There continues to be problems after having 2 (two) sit down confrontations with management. Mom has so far had only 1 radiation treatment and no chemo treatments. They have made my mom cry many times. I have concluded these people have nothing personal against my mother but rather are just plain running a horrible company.
