Do not come here. Go to Union Square post office instead. People there are HELPFUL and do not have an attitude problem.

I will sue them 10/9/2011

I shipped a new laptop to my friend, but they didn't give the laptop to my friend. I called usps customer services and opened several cases to ask information and got no answer. I will not ship package through usps any more. I plan to sue them to get laptop back soon. more

Great Place to Read a Loooooong Book 3/21/2011

The teller line was 35 people long when I entered, 32 people long when I gave up and left 8 minutes later. I've gotten stuck here a couple of times and today's line was typical. If you gotta come here, bring a Russian novel....or two. more

AWFUL SERVICE!!!! Especially LISA at the pick up window! 10/4/2010

The Canal Street Post Office is the worst. Lisa at the pick up line will be rude and yell at you even if it's their fault that she and the rest of the staff have lost your package, even with a delivery slip a day after delivery. If you call they hang up on you or put you on hold for over 20 minutes. They're rude and enjoy being rude back. When I called locate a package (that they lost), all phone operators transfered me numerous times, got defensive that they couldn't find my mail and were obnoxious to no end. Their response for losing my package was, ""I don't know where your package is!"" Click. In the end, you lose. Stay away or try to be at home when a package needs to be delivered. I'd love for everyone to experience the rude service on the other end of: 212-966-9573 (Ms. Garcia, you're no help either!) more

If they were privately owned, they'd run out of buisness 5/22/2010

It's just plain bad. what can i say? No matter what time of day i go, there is only one teller to handle the multiple customers sending or trying to receive packages. And F.Y.I they HATE their jobs, you can tell by their attitude towards any form of questioning that the customer has, and towards YOU the one who should be the one angered at the failure of their postman duties. I have a notice on my downstairs front door to the building in large printed font when expecting a delivery, that either A) please call me at # because i know they won't walk up stairs and i'd voluntarily go down myself or B) please deliver it next door to the store. They ignore it, go into my building see that there are stairs and they simply leave a notice saying ""failure to pickup"" or ""failure for signature."" They also fail to ever give notices on time. There was a total of 6 times that a notice to tell me ""to pick up before this date or returns to seller"" TWO weeks AFTER it was already sent back. And of course, i have to have a notice slip before i can even pick up the item. Over the time span of 5 years, i have yet to successfully receive any packages from USPS, i literally groan when a seller or supplier claims the shipment has been sent through USPS knowing full well that from this location at 350 canal street i'll have to end up picking it up myself, and now i throughly rely on either fedex or UPS. But i guess i should thank them, for the amount of excercise they allow me to do to go down there and pick up my package and lug it all the way back is great, and you don't even have to pay them a membership fee! However if you have the rare chance to have a good teller, you'll be able to get whatever you need done in a jiffy, and if you don't. Be ready to play the patience game. Pros: If you get the nice tellers, you'll get what you need done. Cons: If you don't, you'll be playing the patience game. more

they love to ""not"" deliver your package on time, leave you a slip, and hope you pick it up yourself. Oh, and they don't answer the phone either. Pros: it's close by if you're in soho or tribeca - they DELIVER Cons: they don't deliver your packages on time more

Ok. This will feel like water torture. The lines are very slow, even with four tellers; I am not sure why mail transaction could take so long. more
