We were desparate for a place to live! We were able to get into this apartment really cheap. That should have been our first clue. We rented a truck and moved our belongings. We parked the rental truck overnight and the neighborhood children tagged the rental truck. Should have been a clue. Before we got our stuff unpacked we were planning to move out. The people upstairs laughed when we told them we would not be there long. They actually took our boxes when we did empty some of them so they could move. Then we all got sick. Even the dogs. Could not breathe, partly from the cigarette smoke and then something in the apartment. The dogs sneezed all day and night right along with the rest of us. The police were there so often that we actually ask them if they had to pay rent. Everytime we opened the door to go someplace, there they were day or night. Our plumbing was backed up daily. The plumbers truck had a permanent parking spot. The neighbors would have horrible fights right outside our door, screaming and using foul language. But by the time the cops got there, they had all gone inside. It was like having a look out or something. We actually saw drug deals being worked outside someones bedroom window. Again the police were a few minues too late. And then there were kids out late at night knocking on doors and windows and running. We got no sleep!
