Best

Best Mojito in NB. Great Calamari, Crab Salad and Pizza. They are open till 1am with a very good service. I would recommend this place to anyone. Pros: Open Till Late, Moji...

Worst

Reminds me more of a chain restaurant like macaroni grill or olive garden than nice north beach spot. Plenty of better options. The staff is arrogant and had little personality....

After Midnight Foodie Dream 3/8/2010

You want gnocchi, calzones or any other italian delicacy, you can get it in the wee hours!(til 2am) It's not just thrown together but it will come out fast, hot & will make you down it! You can smell the fresh, made bread before they set it on the table. Be careful, because it is possible to grub down three before your food comes. There is ourdoor seating with heaters, but I prefer a booth in the center to people watch inside & out. The coffee is caffeine ridden & lovable! You wont want dessert(unless that's all you came for)the main dishes come in generous portions! AND IT'S SF NORTH BEACH!! Lively & classic SF! Pros: Open LATE!!! Cons: Open LATE!!(only a problem if you are on a diet..LOL) more

great for a sunny day! 5/1/2007

If you're lucky and outdoor seating is available on a warm, sunny day, it's nice to able to enjoy your meal and sip a mojito while people-watching. Yummy flavored mojitos and decent entrees (I don't remember the name but it was some kind of lamb tenderloin + baby arrugula dish - SO good!) makes this place definitely worth coming back. However, be warned that outdoor seating comes with a price - it takes forever to get any kind of attention from the waitstaff! Pros: outdoor seating, fruity mojitos, decent food Cons: outdoor seating = no refills, orders, etc. more

A great late night dining option 3/2/2007

I always end up at Calzone's with a group of friends around midnight. I don't know where I would go if they didn't stay open until 1am, probably be stuck with one of the junky pizza by the slice joints. The food is consistent -- I love the smoked salmon pizza, it's always crisp and flavorful. I'm also a fan of the italian potstickers -- a nice riff on the chinese classic, these coming filled with italian sausage. The Moscow mojito is a dangerous concotion -- it should not be so easy to drink the tangy vodka laced beverage! And I admit, I love the fresh sugar cane garnish and have been seen chewing on it without shame. more

good location 9/28/2006

This place is fun for people watching on a sunday afternoon while sipping a Mojito. Their finger foods are ok, but nothing worth bragging about. It's the atmosphere and location that brings me back time and again. The outdoor service is super slow so don't go if you're in a rush and be prepared to walk up to the bar to order your own drinks, but it makes for a nice leisurely somewhat tasty meal. Pros: outdoor seating, people watching, mojitos more

Best Place for Late Night Food 9/24/2006

Best french fries ever! 7/6/2006

This place is totally unassuming, but I am glad I gae it a try. I've been several times, and each time was great. I love thier chicken sandwiches, the maui onion salad with crostini, and just about anything else I have ever eaten here. The service is really good, the food is good, and on warm nights ask to sit outside so that you can watch all of the people walking by. Late night proves to be a real entertaining experience. Pros: Best fries! Cons: None. more

Best gnocchi! 6/25/2006

My date and I were walking around North Beach, trying to decide what Italian restaurant we wanted to have lunch at. We decided to give Calzone's a try. We were totally impressed with our meal! To start, we had the Bruchetta. So good!!! Pros: Homemade fettuccini & gnocchi! Cons: Parking more

A slice of Italy 4/14/2006

This is one of the greatest little spots in North Beach. After a nite of great live music, we were walking down Columbus and noticed the checkerd sidewalk. Grabed a table outside and had the best late nite dinner we have ever had. The food is outstanding and they have a nice wine list. The patio is heated as well for those chilly nites. The service was great and the prices are very reasonable. Every time I go to North Beach I dine here. more

yummie sandwich 3/13/2006

had a baguette burger that was good... grilled onions, meat was juicy and flavorfull. the tiramisu for dessert was yummie. service was average. i went during the afternoon on a weekday so it wasn't really crowded. more

Awesome Food, Great Location 8/26/2005

My friends and I had a great time at Calzone's the other day. One friend had the burger, which looked incredible. She said it was one of the best she's ever had. I had the orzo with coteghino sausage and the spinach salad - they were both really, really good. Fun place to go with alot of people. They have great Mojitos! We will definately come back sooner than later! Pros: Great Food, Great Food, Outside Seating more

Paying for the Location 8/1/2005

The location was great. Especially on a nice sunny weekend. However the food was not anything to get excited about. I had a spinach salad and it was drenched in dressing and was supposed to have pancetta, olives, and onions. But it was mostly just spinach. If I wanted this I could have just made it at home. My boyfriend had flavorless risotto and sausage. The only think that looked decent was my friends sandwich with fries or the pizza. Oh yea and the mojitos were WEAK. I think they forgot the rum! Pros: location, Quickly seated Cons: Bland food, boring food, weak drinks more

Great Food, Great Location 5/4/2005

We LOVED the food and the atmosphere at Calzone's. I went here for lunch last week and had an amazing sandwich, the soup was incredible. Decided to go again for dinner this week and had yummy salad and pasta. Sat outside and enjoyed the warm heaters above our table and people watched. In the heart of North Beach, Calzone's is the place to be. We would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Calzone's. I would say this is my favorite restaurant. more

Dont wast your time 5/3/2005

This is on the strip of tourist central. The atmosphere wasnt that great unless you were seated outside. The food itself was just boring. I had a pasta dish with crab and it wasnt that good. I did see a few calzones pass by and they looked interesting, but I was terribly disappointed. Pros: Good Outside Seating Cons: Tourist central, Food Blah, no character more
