Grateful to find this Vet in LC 2/26/2015

Took our 12 yo Doberman and 1 yo toy poodle mix to Calista Animal Hospital for first visit. Recently moved here from Ohio. My husband and I were so impressed with Dr. Calista's thorough exam of both animals, her knowledge, patience and clear explanations of our dog's issues. I am a retired R.N., before that, worked for a large Veterinary practice as Vet. Ass't. & Receptionist. My husband and I had fostered over 100 dogs and cats in the past, so we are familiar w/ Veterinarians and animal health. Both our dogs were "rescues" - the little one recently from the local Shelter. Although improved, she still had a cough and wheeze after two visits & antibiotic treatments at another LC Vet Clinic. Dr. Calista listened to her throat and chest, located the source of her problem, even let me listen w/ her stethoscope. I was concerned she had a serious heart problem. Dr. Calista assured me that it was the residual of her constant barking while at the Shelter, and would decrease in time. more

BEST VET EVER 12/10/2014

As a former employee of 6 years at Calista Animal Hospital and a current veterinary student, I can promise you that Dr. Calista has never treated her employees badly. Everything I know is because she was patient and took the time to teach me. I applied to the clinic in 2008 because I was so impressed with the quality of care my pets received and it was the best decision I ever made. Majority of the negative reviews are usually from disgruntled employees that strayed from the philosophy of the practice which, in a nutshell, is to always put the patient and their owners first. If you want high quality care and excellent knowledge, this is the place to go. more

NEVER GO HERE!!! 12/7/2014

Worst place ever! Dr. Calista is a awful vet and poor business owner . She treats employees poorly and allows vet students to do surgery on your beloved pets ! Pet owners be ware she's not a good person nor a decent vet . Worst place to take your pet ! Allowing students to do major surgery on your pet in not only unethical but illegal !! NEVER GO HERE Someone call the vet board and report this facility ASAP more

Your Pet's Life May Depend On Your Choice 7/26/2013

I am reasonably confident that if clients were aware of how Carol Calista treats her employees and fellow Doctors, they would think twice about their patronage of her business. Calista appears to have no concept of a work-life balance (beyond her own) and has very little regard for the well-being or job satisfaction of her staff. From what I have seen as a client and ex-employee, excluding a couple of her minions, Calista’s staff is overworked, underpaid, and vastly unappreciated. The overall morale in that clinic is lower than the Titanic’s starboard side. Please spend your money elsewhere. Somewhere that understands and appreciates the correlation between happy healthy employees and the level of care and service they provide. Your pet's life may depend on it. more

USED TO BE the best in town 5/3/2013

There are some pretty good vets there but the customer service has gone down hill. Very few of the original employees are there and the new ones are close to clueless. What used to be a caring, attentive, knowledgeable staff has turned into a crap shoot. Take your chances and hope you luck out with someone who knows what they are talking about. more

TOP NOTCH VET-BEST IN CRUCES 3/3/2011

Absolutely the most caring and committed vet we've ever taken our pets to. The staff are knowledable and considerate. The last review on this page is completely unlike any experience I've ever had with this office. We have been taking our pets to this practice for over ten years with minimal problems. The last reviewer's opinions seem a little suspect...maybe a plant from another vet's office. more
