Firs Cal Tex Property Management does not have a Broker's license and has not been in business since 2005 pursuant to the Realtors Board. ONe of the sons of Faye Porter (deceased) has a salesman license with another Real estate board. \r When the tenants of the properties on West Gate Blvd notify the Porters of any property, such as the slab moving and the sheet rock coming apart and hanging down and the walls separating one of them or they will send someone over to patch it. They put us crown molding in a room and this is the only thing holding the sheet rock up. There are cracks on most of the walls. the slab has moved so much that the bathroom door will not close. \r \r DO NOT RENT FROM these people. The Texas Property Code requires a management company to have a broker's license. They do not. \r \r In another duplex that I presently occupy, the a/c went out and it was replaced after the repair person told them. When the next duplex from me that has all the problems (these people have been there for 8 + years, A/C was not cooling, I sent an email to Cal Tex and then phone the Porter male and he told me not to go up and down the street telling people that I got a 4000.00 a/c unit. This did not set well with me and he apologize after I go through with him. \r \r A foundation company came out a few weeks ago and gave an estimate to me to send to them to have the slab repaired and leveled and I emailed this to the Porter boys and have not heard from them. They are not property managers and not either one has a Broker's license to handle property. All is listed in the Texas Property Code section 92. \r \r DO NOT RENT FROM these people or so called Cal Tex.\r \r more

the first day we moved into our duplex under cal-tex properties, our attaches neighbors told us to be very careful with the move in walk thru because the landlord tries to rob you for all you have when you move out, i did not believe them because it was a family owned business with people that seemed very friendly. i should have believed them, this family might as well wear black ski masks all the time. there was holes in every door and some spots that were patched when we moved in that i wrote on the walk thru, when we moved out, faye, the landlord conveniently never got my move in walk thru report and tried to charge me for previously exhisting damages to the duplex. the backyards were poorly tended to and i had to plant my own grass, which was completely unappreciated when we moved out. the bills were very high due to old insulation and 2 weeks into our lease we had to report a rat problem, which never went away. \r i highly recommend that you DO NOT rent from cal-tex properties, but if you do, keep EVERYTHING on file because Fayes sons will be the ones you deal with face-to-face and they are very shady people. Faye will only be available on the phone, and does not know anything about the properties, only what her sons tell her. \r upon move out, we received an $800+ bill for ridiculous claims, such as 100$ for a dirty stove top which was spotless when we moved out. we were able to fight most of it, but the rest was not worth it and we ended up paying almost half just to resolve the issue. Faye says she will not give me a rental recommendation for my next property and i will say i'm completely fine with that because my recommendation will not be pleasant for her. she is rude and argumentative and her sons are criminals, and this is not how a company should be ran. \r the only reason i gave her a rating AT ALL is because its required to post this.
