This is always a delightful restaurant to stop by. I love the Spicy Shrimp which is Available to Your likes. My Friend who eats there with me love the Crawfish Ettofee.

Worst

Honey...I wouldnt waste my $ on this restaurant. They have very little variety and they only offer leg quarters (4 chic.) CAN I GET A BREAST! not sure what other meats they sell. ...

Good place on occasion 2/15/2010

The Canjun Queen is set in an old house and the atmoshpere does take you to another place. The tables are somewhat close so you are eating with strangers right next to you and in your conversation. The server was not able to fit inbetween the tables to the left or right of ours and had to serve from behind me, so initamcy is not available. The food was freshly prepared, but the Chef does not need to be so cautious with using salt and pepper as everything did lean to the bland side. One real critique I feel would be the Gumbo. Gumbo should be rich and thick with depth, this Gumbo was very thin and tomato-boullion like. It was fresh tasting but not the deep, rich taste I know Gumbo should be. The Shrimp and Grits were good but Creole sauce was tastelss. Despite the food being less than what expected, my wife and I liked this place and will return. Pros: The restaurant building is interesting; food is freshly made Cons: Food is bland, not at all what execpted for a Cajun place more

Great place for something different 12/30/2009

This is a restaurant where you hang out after your meal is long over and enjoy the atmosphere and live music. Fabulous establishment with a friendly staff. Sunday brunch is my favorite!!!!!!! Pros: Sunday brunch more

Fried Green Tomato's were very tasty 12/15/2009

Great Food, Great Outdoor Patio 9/14/2009

Had a great experience my fist time at the Queen of Cajun. I had the Bayou Platter and my girlfriend had the Etouffee. Both were excellent but I especially liked the blackened seasoning on the chicken and catfish mine came with. From what I heard the Etouffee is one of the most popular on the menu so you can't go wrong with either one. \r \r Overall, I will def return and recommend. Pros: Great Date Spot, Food, Outdoor Seating, Online Reservations Cons: Parking is tough if you come on Fri and Sat more

One of the best in Charlotte 9/10/2009

The band is great but can be overpowering if you are right in front of them. I have had numerous items on the menu and have never had one dish that did not exceed my expectations. The BBQ Shrimp app is a MUST. I dont even care if they put the shrimp in, the sauce and bread are the best. you will get a different atmosphere and food quality is as good if not better that locations like del frisco. Pros: Food is unmatched and unique Cons: sitting right in front of the band more

By Far- My favorite restaurant in Charlotte! 10/28/2008

A mere 3 1/2 years ago, I was brought to Cajun Queen on a date. Since, this restaurant has been a favorite of mine. I love the atmosphere; always sitting upstairs! The jazz band provides fabulous live entertainment. However, I would advise sitting across the room is you are planning on having a quite conversation. Their is usually a wait and the bar upstairs provides great drinks to sip on while listening to jazz and waiting to be seated. The food is absolutely amazing. I have had many items off the menu, but usually order off the specials. If you haven't tried Cajun Queen- you are definitely missing out on one of Charlotte's best kept little secrets. Great dining with a group, on a date, or as a business dinner. Pros: Love the Food, the Service, and the Music! Great overall atmosphere. Cons: Parking can be tough during prime hours and there is usually a wait. more

Best cajun around 6/19/2008

This place is great! Staff are very pleasant. Food is out of site!!! I have been a regular since '97. I have tried everything or just about and it's all delicious. Blackened is wonderful. Toppings you can get are excellent. The Dixieland Band is an asset to the already great atmosphere. Everyone should go and try this out. Kudos to the Cajun Queen!!!! Pros: Great prices. Excellent all around more

Don't try the balckened food 1/4/2008

My wife and I went there tonight for our anniversary -- we try a new restaurant every year. This was our first disappointing experience in 8 years. The crawfish scampi was good, and my wifes meal was pretty good as she had the fried oysters and fried shrimp. I love Cajun food. Gumbo is one of my favorites and a good blackened catfish and shrimp. Thus, that is what I ordered. The Gumbe was not like any Gumbe I ever had -- and I have had Gumbo at many Cajun restaurants. I wrote it off as some places are just diffeent -- I still had my blackened shrimp and catfish coming. When the plate came out I smelled ash -- I thought someone had stirred the fire we were sitting by. When I put a piece of shrimp in my mouth I realized the smell was from my plate. It tasted as if someone had dipped it in an ash tray. Not only the worst cajun food I had ever had -- but the worst food I had ever had. I did taste the fish, to ensure it was the consitent -- it had the same taste. I called the waitor over and told him to simply smell the plate -- he agreed something was wron (or at least wanted to get a tip). The manager then came out and asked me if I wanted something else, my taste buds were scarred a little but I wanted the blackened. He very politly indicated that I was probably tasting what I was smelling and since I was by the fire and said I would probably be better off with a fried platter. Polite way of saying this is how we make it and the problem is me. Personally, the food would have never left the kitchen if I ran the place -- a simple sniff test. Other food there looked fin, my fried food was OK but overall I was very very disappointed. I could have gotten friend shrimp for less elsewhere and it would have been as good. Pros: Nice quaint place Cons: Blackened food horrible, Gumbo less than adequate more

Best Food In Town! 3/29/2007

I've been going to the Cajun Queen for years, and I just love it. I used to go just for special occasions, but now that they've revamped, I'm there at least once a week. Their covered patio is the best room in the house, unless I'm in party mode--then I sit with the band upstairs. The wait on Saturdays can get pretty long, but as long as I have a spot at their new bar with a 7th Street Stumbler in my hand, I'm set. My husband likes it too--says his favorite thing about the new bar is their LCD HDTV. If I'm craving cajun and he wants to watch the game, we'll head over to the Queen and eat at the bar. It's a wonderful compromise. Pros: food, service, specialty drinks, music, smoke-free Cons: parking's tight, no saturday reservations more

Bad Business, Good food 1/15/2007

The food here is good and worth a taste, however PAY IN CASH...We left a cash tip and they added 20% to my credit card anyway....And don't try to get a response if they do it to you too....Be wary... more

We love this place! The food is amazing- I always get the crawfish diane. My husband loves the catfish. We like the atmosphere, too, although its always crowded. Drinks are reasonably priced and plenty strong! Pros: excellent food, excellent drinks Cons: crowded more

Delicious - We can't wait to go back! 1/15/2006

Try the barbecued shrimp and fried oysters for appetizers. The oysters practically melt in your mouth. I had shrimp, chicken and crawfish ""Diane"" style and it was awesome. My husband had the duck and loved it too. We went there on a Saturday night and it was very busy, but be patient and you will not be disappointed. Pros: Great food Cons: Parking more

I am not even a cajun food fan and I love this place. I have been once and it was really a treat. The salmon and shrimp are amazing - their spices are mouthwatering even for someone who doesn't have a taste for real hot stuff. Very cozy and romantic. Pros: Excellent Service, Wide range of choices, Large portions Cons: A little crowded, Tiny parking lot more
