Editorial review from Citysearch 11/19/2012

I got food poisoning from this restaurant this past Saturday. I ordered the french toast sandwich and hashbrown casserole off the brunch menu and regretted the the rest of the night. I was deathly ill!! It was not good and our guests ordered different things off the brunch menu and said it was average/leaning on poor. Over priced! I will NEVER eat here again!!!!!! more

Avoid. Over-priced food that is bland bordering on gross. I made it 1/2 way through my last sandwich and threw the rest away. Never again! more

YUMMY!!!! Love the blue cupcakes!!! : ) Pros: null Cons: null more

No. No. No. 7/11/2010

The desserts look great and the staff was nice but the breakfast was not good. The hashbrowns were yellow, cold, and tasteless. The sweet potato buscuits were cold and hard and tasteless. The cheezy buscuits were dry with a sprinkle of cheddar on top... they weren't even browned. The eggs tasted like the powder king and they were cold. The bacon was cold. I'll try them again for the desserts but not for breakfast. more

Busy Lunch Spot 2/5/2009

I have eaten at the Cafe Carolina at Cameron Village for years and have always enjoyed their food. We had them cater an event at work, but they totally messed up the order. After I spoke with two different people at Cafe Carolina about the order and was able to prove from the fax that they had made the mistake, they immediately remedied it and we were pleased. I especially love how they move large numbers of people through there quickly, the lines move fast; however, there have been times when I have literally not found a place to sit, especially in winter, when you cant utilize outdoor tables. The place where you pick up your food is too close to the drink machine, which makes for a bit of chaos during lunch rush. I think they need to add a drink machine or move the one they have. Otherwise, the grilled paninis and french onion soup are super! more

Nice stop for lunch 1/7/2009

We've visited Cafe Carolina a number of times during lunch. But go early. It gets really crowded. Try their signature chicken salad sandwich and of course a cupcake with blue icing! I haven't had a bad meal there yet. It does fill up fast, though, even though it's a nice sized restaurant. There's also outdoor seating. more

Kind of pricey for so-so food 9/15/2008

I didn't think there was anything special about the food. It's not bad but it's not worth the price or the "hype." I don't think the cupcakes were really special - nothing that you couldn't get at a grocery store bakery. The staff was fairly friendly and the atmosphere seemed nice enough. I do like that they have some choices on the menu that seem fairly healthy (or at least give you a fair shot at making healthier choices!) I won't turn down a meal there but I won't go out of my way to visit, either. Pros: good selection, tasty coffee Cons: food was just average more

Horrible brunch-Great Cupcakes! 7/15/2008

This place is overrated, the food is bland, over or undercooked and definitely overpriced, but the kids love the cupcakes and I finally tried and and they are good! Great cake, great icing, not too sweet, but definitely sweet tooth satisfying. Pros: The CUPCAKES Cons: everything else, especially the price more

Sunday brunch (food) is awful! 2/11/2008

We really don?t understand why this place got high reviews on ?City Search?. Pros: None that I could see Cons: Brunch is awlful! more

excellent 12/21/2007

I went on an end of the exam celebration with some friends for lunch. It was great-- I had the salad and sandwich combo. Very fresh ingredients, well made, and it tastes wonderful. I also had their baked goods on other occasion and they are very tasty too. The service is excellent-- very helpful, personable, and nice. more

Great Sandwiches 11/19/2007

Cafe Carolina has a good selection of sandwiches on great bread. Soups are good, especially the Potato Soup. :) The desserts are delicious. This is definitely not a cheap place, but worth an occasional visit. more

Fresh, Fun, and Reasonably Priced 7/25/2007

YUM! Just tried this place for the first time and we were very pleased. For under $8, we got 1/2 a turkey sandwich (REAL shredded turkey, not that rubbery deli-meat kind, on fresh bread, with a nice dressing, sprouts, and lettuce), a cup of Broccoli-Cheddar Soup (delicious, creamy, and cheesy), a bag of pretzels, and 2 drinks. I typically don't like turkey sandwiches unless they're hot, but this one was perfect! For an extra $3 and change, we got a vanilla cupcake (good, but not amazing) and an "inside out peanutbutter cup" (AMAZING -- gooey and rich). Very full and it was very affordable. Pros: Clean establishment, fresh and delicious food, not too pricey Cons: Looks like it could get a bit crowded (parking and seating) during peak hours more

great new salads! 7/24/2007

The new salads are wonderful AND filling. I recommend the mediterranian salad. They have great vegetarian options as well as standard deli sandwiches. The only thing i don't like about this restaurant is that the bakery doesn't have many whole wheat or hearty grain baked goods. Pros: great salads more

The Cafe Carolina Salad 7/10/2007

I've told several friends the Cafe Carolina Salad is the best salad in town. Full of pungent gorgonzola, sugared pecans, sweet, fresh strawberries and crisp, tender lettuce, to name a few, the ingredients create a personality that won't quit. Consistently enjoyable, Cafe Carolina has a winning combination with this offering. Pros: Excellent food Cons: Too cold in the restaurant and staff not responsive to feedback more

Best Salads in the triangle 7/10/2007

Their new Chicken Fiesta Salad is terrific, so much flavor and quality...welll worth the trip there. I hear that the Signature Salad is equally excellent. The staff is so friendly and helpful, you can alter your salad, sandwich, flatbread, just ask. You have to try this place! more

GREAT Lemon Bars and Salads 7/20/2006

I make a special trip once or twice a week just to swing by to purchase the delicious lemon bars. Definitely the best dessert on the menu. Pros: Salads and Desserts Cons: The hours. When I have to work late it's difficult to get to the restaurant before 8pm more

Best Downtown Lunch spot 7/18/2006

I go there often and the food and staff are wonderful!! I have never had bad service there and if you call in your order you can pick it up and you are out of there in no time. IThey are also great for business lunches. We have never had a bad delivery order. Always prompt, even during bad wether. Try it you will like it!! more

Great deserts 7/18/2006

Great place for a sandwich for lunch, this friendly atmosphere lets you eat at your pace and enjoy your meal. THe people are friendly and the food is great with a a large selection. I enjoy going back and back more

Food and staff are the best!! 7/12/2006

I go there often and the food and staff are wonderful!! I have never had bad service there and if you call in your order you can pick it up and you are out of there in no time. It is at the top of my list for places to eat in Cameron Village. Try it you will like it!! more

always good! 7/11/2006

Love their signature salad, their pannini's, and their chicken salad on croissant. I always get their cupcake for dessert, even if I feel guilty later for it, they are just soo good! The sweet tea is good there and I always go away feeling full and happy. My only complaint is how busy it can be sometimes, esp for lunch! But, doesn't keep me from going. :) Pros: chicken salad, sweet tea, Cupcakes!! Cons: busy busy at lunch! more
