Cafe Cabernet is a great restaurant and bar. It is very crowded at times. There are two full bars, eating areas, and a place for the weekend bands to play. Music is pretty much limited to jazz. It can get pretty loud. The cafe boasts of around 700 bottles of wine, and it has an extensive martini list. The bartenders are quick and friendly but busy. This place is a great place for singles, couples, or groups of friends. Children are not recommended at this place. Since it is also pretty loud, don't go here if you are looking for quiet conversation. Dress is anywhere from jeans to dresses and suits and everything in between. You will see people of all ages here, from early twenties to sixties and seventies. The younger crowd usually dominates.
The food is outstanding. The menu offers interesting choices, and if you aren't all that hungry, you can opt for the "small plate". Appetizers, salads, and entrees are all excellent. I have not had anything that I wouldn't recommend. The martini list is fun to peruse, and all of the mixes drinks are wonderful. No skimping on the alcohol here. The desserts are impeccable. Service is usually good.
Most weekends you will find a live band. The place is open, and there is outside dining. There is one large private room for large parties. Otherwise, choose the bar, or one of the many tall bar tables and other seating around the place.
For a great time, and for an enjoyable people-watching experience, go to Cafe Cabernet.
