BEST COFFEE SHOP AROUND 10/22/2006

You time 2/1/2005

This is the coffee shop I had imagined. I always thought that I would sip coffee in a sunfilled window and read a book. The music is'nt blaring or trendy. They arn't so pretencious that you get strange looks if you need to answer your cellphone. They always have fresh cut folwers, serve yourself flavored water and spoons! Yes, real spoons to stir your coffee with. The people that work there never have that put-out attitude when you need something.Only drawbacks are: check your order if you get it to go, bring cash, and don't expect your bagel to be huge. Pros: service, clean, delicious Cons: parking, small portions, crowded on sunday more

Best place to just be 6/8/2004

Que Tal has a great atmosphere and is surprisingly free of attitude for the Mission. The coffee rocks and the baked goods are super-yummy. The cafe has plenty of seating yet remains cozy; the staff is friendly and plays an interesting mix of music; the scene is comfortingly clean but not sterile. Also, unlike S-bucks, the cafe feels like an adult oasis and isn't overrun by screaming toddlers and strollers. more

Swell Coffee 5/14/2002

Friendly baristas, excellent fruit-yogurt-granola bowls, great strong coffee, clean and welcoming with nice music and a relaxed, diverse crowd. Best coffeehouse in the Mission--the opposite of the grubby, grungy, punky Muddy Waters scene, but not sterile like a 'Bucks. more
