The people who work there are great and the atmosphere is perfect. It's just perfect for studying or reading in the morning. Nobody takes themselves too seriously there. \r \r...

Mixed Experiences 3/19/2006

Que Tal has been my local cafe for three years and I have spent a lot of time there. I've been there late on weekdays when the place is quiet, as well as busy weekend mornings where you often have to share a table. I like the coffee drinks, the bagels are fresh, and the sandwiches are delicious. I have two complaints, though. One is the price of items. In the time I have been a frequent customer I have seen the prices for the sandwiches increase to the point that they cost as much as a sandwich + side might cost elsewhere. The other complaint is that I have had excellent service at times, but on the downside, I have had really bad service (waiting forever to order, wrong food, staff talking instead of tending to customers). It's a shame because when my favorite servers are there, it's a great place to read a book while having a latte and a veggie sandwich (the veggie sandwich is especially good). But when it's bad, it's so bad that I start to question my patronage. This of course does not take away from the quality of the food, but I wish prices would stop increasing and that it was more consistent an experience. That said, it's usually still worth it, but can be a mixed bag. more

wonderful local cafe 10/24/2005

this is a great cafe for reading, writing, or talking. the ceilings are high, there are lots of plants, and there is always great artwork up. it has a very nice, open, airy feeling that you don't always get from cafes in the city. their drinks are very good, as are their pasteries. it's also nice to be somewhat off the beaten track on guerrero, and this place isn't usually too busy. it's a lot quieter than other local places. more
