Only place like it anywhere. Jose Godoy, the curator, runs an informative little museum, with many interesting and unique exhibits. Free! Nice gift shop.

Fun museum about the history of cable cars and SF. You can see their transformation and learn more than you ever expected to. more

My husband and I visited the Cable Car Museum a week ago on our own, and it was a really great place to visit! We were playing tourist one day while my mom babysat, and we rode the cable car from Aquatic Park to the museum. It was really fun, and I can imagine this would be a great place to take young children to watch the cable car machinery underground. Very cool! My little guy is only 1, but I'm sure we'll bring him back when he's older. more

This place would have been nice for my husband and myself. The cars were nice. Clean atmosphere. more

Free, interesting and worth checking out! 10/30/2006

It doesn't get any better than free, plus, you will witness the complex system of wire, mechanics and pulleys that operate the cable car system. It's unbelievable how much activity takes place to make this historic mode of transportation possible. The location is near other points of interest and the gift shop has great items of memorabilia. This a great point of interest for visitors to the city and residents alike. more
