Possibly the best authentic Italian dining experience in LA. A special treat that we look forward to each year when we visit family at Christmas, Ca'Del Sole never disappoints. The food and drinks are wonderful, the service staff is outstanding and the atmosphere is conducive to thorough enjoyment of the evening. more

Great food, great prices, great happy hour 12/22/2011

I came here for happy hour with a friend as a reward after a long day of Christmas shopping. What a reward! We had cocktails (I had a Negroni, new cocktail of choice), a bunch of stuff off the $5 happy hour menu (the pork sausage in puttanesca sauce with fried polenta was a favorite), also quartinos of wine for $5. Everything was delicious, the bartender was really nice, and the Christmas decorations were very pretty. I'm actually going back with my parents for Christmas Eve dinner. I heard they have a good Bellini brunch too, so I'll have to try that. I guess I'm going to have to become a regular. more

Beautifully designed but poorly executed 2/5/2011

I am 100% italian -I was born in Italy, I was raised in Italy - I can assure all of you this is not an italian restaurant - when the wait staff and the chef are not italian you are not getting italian food and you are not getting the italian restaurant experience - it is a shame because it seems whoever is in charge does not even want to try to give it that truly italian flare...yeah, you guessed it...italian waiters, an italian chef...just like any other ethnic restaurant you go to in this town... more

mediocre 10/5/2010

Easy to get reservation. Old school place that is uneven. I had the seafood soup and it was truly mediocre with the flavor of the broth. Service uneven with 3 requests for ice water before we got a glass..2 of 3 courses pretty good, the rest, no so much..mediocre caesar salad, pretty good sauce on the pasta...wine very pricey... more

A terrific restaurant 5/16/2008

The food was terrific, reservations were easy, the staff was outstandin! As we had theater reservations, they gave very rapid service. Did I say the food was excellent? Thank you for a wonderful experience! Pros: excellent everything more

Rude on the phone - good luck making a reservation 4/22/2008

We used to eat here once in a while when they first opened and I was working nearby. The food was good but pricey - more for special occasion lunches. I recently called in the morning to try to make a lunch reservation. They hung up on me twice, then the 3rd time kept me on hold for almost ten minutes. When the hostess finally picked up the phone and I said I wanted to make a reservation, she replied (in an irritated tone of voice), ""Y'know what, I'm busy. I'm gonna have to call you back."" Pros: Good food Cons: Rude service more

The best Italian cuisine ever... 3/7/2008

I learnt my lessons... Pros: This place has everything you can ask for a great restaurant more

Everything about this place is impeccable 2/11/2008

Most important in our experience-we were absolutely blown away by the service. One of our party had just gotten out of the hospital and it was obvious she was struggling when walking. The manager insisted to move us to the largest booth in the restaurant (there were only 4 of us) in front of the fireplace. He would check on us throughout the meal, our server was also excellent and very attentive. The food-impressive presentation and DELICIOUS! The atmosphere-beautiful and very attentive to detail. more

Comfort food, and friendly service :-) 10/19/2007

We frequent this restaurant and love it! Friendly staff and very family friendly. You definately need to try the chicken lasagna, pumpkin ravioli (although very rich), and the lobster ravioli. Those are my families fav's, but I can't recall having a bad meal there. Good food in the valley! Pros: Chicken lasagna, the ravioli, and service! more

it's pasta. that's for sure. 9/24/2007

I got stuff togo here for my office at work. They were very nice and the pasta was as good as pasta usually is. They kinda sorta messed up the order, but were very accomidating in fixing it quickly and crediting back my card. more

The Letdown!!! 7/17/2007

It saddens me that I have to berate this place. I had heard some good things about this place and even a well known celeb gave me the nod, so I thought great! What a great place to bring the Mom and celebrate her birthday! Boy oh boy I was wrong. First things first ... the wierd old man who I assumed was the manager was very abrupt and didn't seem to want to seat my party, even though we had reservations. In waiting to be seated (place was about half full), we perused over to the bar and got a cocktail. The drinks were solid and the bartender was nice(best part of the evening). We finaly got seated and were told the specials. there were 7 in our party so 3 of us had ordered the special items(Rib Eye) and to the dismay of our party . The waiter came back to tell us that they were all out of the special steak? To make matters worse...they were out of 3 other items. It's fine to run out of special items but items on your menu? i mean how does an Italian place run out of Mozzerela, that's like a Rib Place running out of BBQ sauce. You just don't. There staples. At that point everything seemed to go downhill. I mean not even an sincere apology...in fact the waiter seemed miff about even waitimg on us. He didn't have any wit wan was a complte bore. No humor at all. And everytime we asked him about an item on the menu, he would just repeat what was written in the menu. Does he even know what there taste like? The food was good, the bathroom nice and in fact the place was great. But the service sucked due to also not taking the plates off the table when done. Refills were slow and costly. Desserts a little on the warm side. Who eats warm tiramizuuu??? The staff needs to trained to be attentitive. It's funny how one takes these little things for granted. Bring back the days of Chasens and say no to Ca'de Sol. They didn;t even sing happy birthday for me Mum! The other table across from had the staff sing? Wonder what that was all about??? Shout out to the Mellanesa and OSO Pros: Overall Place Cons: Service more

Good, solid rustic-style italian fare 2/26/2007

If you are looking for spaghetti & meatballs, fettucini alfredo, or angel hair pomodoro, do not come here. This place has a great menu of comfort italian food made with amazingly fresh ingredients. The calamari is an excellent starter as well as the artichoke/spinach salad. The gnocchi with duck confit is unbeatable. Their fish is fresh and perfectly cooked. As for dessert, you can't go wrong with the warm chocolate cake, though if you want something unique, the ""crema"" melts in your mouth. They are good in all areas of the meal. I also like to top it off with one of their dessert wines. Pros: Solid food; haven more

Great Food, Great Ambiance 9/5/2006

I had heard about Ca' Del Sole, and finally tried it. We were a party of 5 for dinner, and we had a wonderful experience. We enjoyed a good bottle of wine (okay, two bottles) at a great price, and our food was terrific. Even with the temperature in the 80s, we loved sitting out on the patio. It was beautiful. more

Great Prices Good Food 3/4/2006

My friend and I dined here for my birthday. We had a reservation and were seated quickly. The menu is extensive and so is the wine list. I had a mojito. I had the Octopus appetizer and it was ok. Nothing great it was a cold appetizer which was my mistake for not noting. I then had the Stufato for my entree and this was delicious. It was a hearty heart soup with lots of seafood inside. My friend had the Osso Bucco and she loved it. I have to commend the service...our server was really great freindly and knowledgeable. Overall a great place to eat and catch up with old friends. The tables were a little too close together for my liking. Pros: Friendly staff, extensive wine list, prompt seating Cons: BRIGHT, tables too close more

great italian in the valley 1/19/2006

we were so pleasantly surprised by the food this past weekend. a group of ten of us went for a birthday. everything was great from the burrata (perfectly soft, fresh mozzarella) and calamari to the main courses of the gnocchi with duck (outstanding) and the crab and lobster ravioli. can't wait to go back and try something else. the service was great, very nice and helpful with the menu. and the prices? average main courses ran between $15-$19. who could ask for a better value? Pros: great pasta, great service, great prices more

One of the best Italian places in LA! 7/24/2005

We had never seen this place until my wife decided to have her bridal shower in Ca' del Sole's amazing outdoor patio. The ambiance alone is worth a visit. But you will be very pleasantly surprised by the quality and flavor of the food, especially their lasagne. The waiters are very pleasant and the wine selection is good. Along with Ca' Brea, this is probably one of the best Italian places in LA. Take your significant other and enjoy a nice summer evening in their gorgeous patio! Pros: Food, Ambiance, Service more

Other than ambiance not impressed 2/5/2005

We went on a Sat night. The service was OK. The dish 2 of us wanted was no longer available (at 8:00PM???) The bar made the drinks weak. I asked for a SPLASH of fpineapplejuice in my drink twice but got mostly juice both times. The chicken scallopine I had was ok. My wife had lobster ravioli it was very so-so according to her. The chocolate totre dessert was overly heavy and sweet. and beleive me I love sweet desserts! The ambiance was nice, even though we sat inside. I wouldnt go back, even though I live right near it. Pros: atmoshpere Cons: bar service, food bland more

A five-star dining experience! 2/29/2004

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Valley, especially on those evenings warm enough to eat on the beautiful patio. The menu changes regularly, and also has a number of daily specials so that there's always something new to try. If you've never had a risotto made from farro (a grain) rather than the usual arborio rice, then you must try it - the best I've had was a snow crab and caulilflower farro risotto - it was exceptional. I find it difficult to not order the rabbit legs - two legs cooked in two different ways. Wonderful rich flavors. Last time I was there there was a cheese board available as an alternative to the dessert menu - a great addition. Pros: Patio dining, Great food, Wonderful service more
