Nice cheap Theater 2/28/2006

I really like this place, it's great for college kids because sometimes they offer student discounts, but the shows are real quality. It's a good place to see a stage show, and they have good ecoustics for concerts. I think the last time I went there I saw the Prague Orchestra and it was amazing. The sound quality was great even in the very back. I would know cause I got there late and had to stand in the back. more

Culture! Get some! 2/28/2006

Last time I went here (which admitedly hasn't been in about 6 months) they had a student discount, which is great for poor college kids everywhere. But they also put on a lot of quality shows I'd pay full price for if I had the cash. The seating inside is set up very well and the acoustics are perfect. A great place to see a stage show. more

One of the best 2/12/2006

The Merriam Theater is a wonderful. I saw a Tyler Perry play here and i almost fell out of my seat laughing. The theater itself is kept quite up to date with nice furnishing. It is very easy as well to figure out the seating layout. It is best to get tickets in advance because some shows are enormously popular. Parking can be a nuisance so it is best to use public transportation. There are so many type of events here so there is something for everyone. more

Beautiful venue with good performances 8/10/2005

The Merriam Theatre is a nice venue for live theater. Mnay high-profile shows (such as "Movin Out" which toured here recently) grace this stage. Its location on the Avenue of the Arts makes it easily accessible via subway or vehicle with nearby parking. There are plenty of restaurants in the area. The venue itself is great for theater with good sound and lighting on the stage. The seating is mostly adequate although some top level (cheapest) seats have an obstructed view of the stage. The staff is helpful in helping patrons find their seats. The theater is well-maintained. Certainly a well-known venue for local theater and a good choice if you can stay away from the "Family Circle" cheap seats whenever possible. more
