Moose's

Here’s a strange story... I applied for an administrative position at Moose’s some years ago. I went through three interviews. After the last, they said, “you basically have the job, we just have to approve it 100% with one other person. Come to dinner tonight, bring a friend. It’s on us.” And so I did, proceeding to devour an incredible meal, on the house. I didn’t go crazy or anything. Just got what seemed reasonable – the morel pizza always comes to mind when I think of great SF Food – didn’t even get wine. Well, maybe I didn’t choose well, because after that meal, I never heard from them again. Not a call or an email or anything. I always wondered if that meal had been a test or who knows? Anyways, if you’ve got the money to blow (our meal was well over $100), this is a great place. Classic SF eating. more

this is a great classic restaurant in lovely northbeach. there is live music and the restaurant is so beautifully done even though it's been there forever. even the exerior is beautiful with the big blue moose head lit up in blue. the rack of lamb is delicious. i wasn't that impressed with the dessert because it was a bit sweeter than i'm use to. more

Moose's in North Beach is one of my favorite restaurants for a multitude of personal reasons, however, this review is about the bar. There is a piano at Moose's that is manned nightly. Happy hour there is a blast. The bar makes tasty cocktails. The crowd is upscale, however, there are a lot of San Francisco old timers always willing to chat it seems. The wine list is primo, I reccommend a Shiraz to go along with one of their tasty appetizers. Also, great place to see celebrities. Have seen everyone from Michael Stipe of REM to Michael Douglas. more
