One of the best seafood restaurants in the Tallahassee area! 12/18/2011

I have been eating at the Seineyard since they were across the street from their "new" restaurant. Not sure who or why reviewers here are rating this restaurant poorly but it does not deserve anything less than a 4 (or maybe 5) stars relative to its competition. Its speciality is fried seafood and it knows how to do its specialty. They offer other forms of seafood (broiled and so on) but I go for the unhealthy splurge when I go. Its prices are not as low as they used to be but have you been to the grocery store lately? They don't give food away at Wal Mart or Publix. The restaurant in Woodville seems to have been hurt by increasing input costs as well as the economy. I think they have opened up a restaurant in Tallahassee where I live but I have gone to the Woodville location for probably 8 or 10 years? All the waitresses are just as friendly as can be and I have never heard or seen anything unprofessional. They hussle and they move and I have never had poor service there. Do they know my names or do I have any kind of interest in this or any other restaurant? No. I have to wonder about some of these other reviewers though. more

Customer Service/Management 1/24/2011

Last week several co-workers & I went to a Birthday lunch at this restaraunt. The manager, on one occasion was yelling at the waitresses in the dining room telling them that they needed to be more organized, which was extremely unprofessional to the waitresses as well as the customers. The waitress that our table had was very nice and provided excellent customer service. On that same day, she was also being unprofessional to the cooks at the window, hitting her fist on the counter telling them to hurry up and the customers paying for their meal heard this as well. This is not the first occasion that I have experienced her unprofessional behavior with the waitresses. The waitresses handle large parties and some do a better job than others as expected. All of the waitresses work very hard and do not deserve to be treated that way. This statement also applies to the cooks. So, I believe that the manager needs some customer service training that she can apply to her internal and external customers. more

Over priced, very average food with poor service 8/28/2009

I have to confess that I have eaten at Seinyard once about 2 years ago. Not that memorable either way. For some reason, the place gets fantastic "word of mouth" locally. Boy, was my experience different ! My Lady and I dined there last night as part of a party of approx 35-40 people. A sure way to get good service, right ? Wrong !!! We did arrive later than the rest of the party. Our order was taken and then our server disappeared. As the rest of our party (including another couple that arrived later than us) were almost through, we had not been served. I walked around to see what was up. Unfortunately, there was no person who looked even remotely in charge. I finally spoke with another server. A lovely lady who was not my server. Wish she had been. Had she not gotten our order, we would probably still be waiting. The bad part is that this lady looked like the only adult on the wait staff. The rest looked, sounded and acted like a group of high schoolers. When we did get our food, it was average, at best, and did'nt have particularly generous portions. 2 entrees, 2 Teas and 1 appetizer came to $ 40.69 ! Overpriced ! Needless to say, we did'nt stay for dessert, nor did that figure include a tip. All this would be reason enough to not come back. But the poor service is the reason that I'm writing this and not coming back ! more

Bad Food 3/25/2009

I ate dinner at Seinyard and had the catfish. The fish had a slightly strange odor reminiscent of being too old to serve. It also had an unusually muddy taste. In spite of this I ate most of the fish with lots of tartar sauce on it and paid the price later that night. It made me sick!!! Don't eat here!!! more

The worst catfish filets in the world 1/20/2009

1/20/09 had 10 of us went to Seinyard. When we arrived at 1130a there were only 12 persons and when I left there might have been 15. I asked the waitress, if the catfish were filets. She responded yes. When served the first few bites told me after taking out a mouth full of bones these were not filets. I called the waitress over and she said they had Boneless Filets and would bring some out. The mgr said since I had eaten 1/2 of one of the 3 pieces they could not take back the order....10 minutes later I called the waitress again and had her take back the dinner and tell the mgr and cook this was the worst catfish I had ever had. Webster's dictionary defines a "filet" as a boneless cut of a fish without bones....the 3rd piece underneath had a tail and was nothing but the center of the fish (whole bone) fried. This was hiding under the fries. "What upsets me most is the lack of management skills this restaurant exhibited. No apology nor did the manager come over. Several others ordered the same thing and had the same problem. To top it all off, I was presented with a bill for the entire amount even though I sent it back with no exchange of food. Of course when I paid my bill at the register, there was not a "How was your dinner" or upon leaving "Thanks for coming". I will never go there again, but will do everything possible to alert all my friends and workers that they should pass this place up and stay local with places like CRYSTAL RIVER SEAFOOD in Tallahassee. more

Exceptional Seafood, But cheap paper plates & cups bothered me 3/19/2008

My husband and I heard great things about your food so we took my parents from out of town and all went for the first time. We thought it was kind of up-scale because they took reservations, the food was supposed to be amazing, and the restaurant was always crowded so we figured it was a really nice. (I'm thinking Bone Fish Grill inside) We sat down and I noticed this was not fancy at all. The tables and chairs were very flimsy and so crowded together, I felt like I was at a mess hall rather than a restaurant. The other thing that bothered me was we got all dressed up to go to this restaurant and they served our food on paper plates, with plastic cups and silverware! I expected a little more than cheap-o dishes from a place that served such exceptional food. The food outweighs the plates and seating arrangements by far, but it was enough to cause some disappointment. The atmosphere definitely needs to be upgraded. more

Use to be good, but not any more ! 9/2/2007

It's always crowd and Jr. Plater and Plater are the same stuff, only that you have to pay $5.00 more. The new location looks nice but unfortunately the service get worse. more

Fresh seafood 4/12/2006

This restaurant is close to the coast so you know the seafood is fresh. The atmosphere is very casual and laid back. It gets very crowded even during lunch but it is worth the wait. I always get the shrimp, but my husband loves the grouper. The employees are friendly and helpful. It is a little far to drive but well worth it. more

Fresh Seafood at a good price! 8/5/2005

I rarely eat Seafood, but when I do, there's only 2 places that I go. The Seinyard is one. They are conveniently located less than ten minutes from my home. And when I do eat seafood, it's usually only shrimp. The Seinyard serves up large plates for the reasonable prices they have. The atmosphere is an open building with lots of tables. Currently, they are building another location across the street from where they are now. The new location looks to be much larger and nicer. The staff is always helfpul and happy. more
