The atmosphere is very bar like, you would never expect the menu to have such high prices. It had fine dining prices without the fine dining atmosphere. It took forever for our meals to come out. And after our meals were out, we never saw the waitresses again. I guess they figured since they were adding gratuity to our checks they didn't have to work for tips. Since the waitress never stopped by our table, we had to track her down to ask for our checks. We then had to track her down to get our receipt and cards back. When we looked at our receipts, we notcied that the gratuity doubled from $10 something to $20 something. This did not only happen to us, but to two other tickets at our table. I found this to be quite shady since other people had also used credit cards, and ours were the only ones that ""got messed up."" Funny thing is, I wasn't even drinking so don't expect me to overlook an extra $10 added to our check...I have heard about servers doing shady things to drunk customers.\r \r Ok, so I talked to the owner, Tommy Arney while the waitresses were correcting our tickets. He was very rude, and very demeaning. He told me ""if we were trying to steal money from you, trust me, we'd steal a lot more than $10."" No apology, he did nothing to rectify the situation...NOTHING! He then asked a waitress to join us, and he points at me and says ""she thinks that we are trying to steal from her,"" can you fix their checks?"" REALLY? Very condescending. I just want to put this out there, so if you ever eat at this restaurant, make sure you look at your check before signing it. I'm sure they have gotten away with this plenty of times. \r \r I would not suggest eating here. The price you pay for the food, you should be getting top notch customer service from the servers and ESPECIALLY the owner. more

We've eaten art Havana's for years. However, last few time the food has been average, and the service terrible at best. Tonight, the witress brought out an incorrect meal (not wat we ordered) and then after finishing only 1/3 of my Oso Buco, I asked that it be boxed. Instead of placing the remainder in the box, she threw it in the trsh and then came back with the bill and said ""oops, sorry"" whan asked where it was. No attempt to make it right, no offer of a dessert on the house or a free drink, just the check, the lack of about a $15 lunch for the next day), and no customer service. just came back from dinner at Havanna's in downtown Norfolk with 2 of my girlfriends. We waited 45 minutes for out appetizer (nachos) and 1 1/2 hours for our meals. Our server was in the weeds the entire night, forgot to ring in our order, and completely neglected our table. We asked to speak to the manager at the end of our meal to see about getting something comped for taking so long for our food. The manager came out and was completely rude to us saying that the kitchen was backed up and their policy does not for the kitchen being backed up. He was very rude and condescending in the way he spoke to us. The owner initially refused to talk to us and then came out to the table and was nastier than anyone has ever spoken to us. He said that the customer is not always right and screamed (yes screamed and cussed) at us....tellling us that we were being babies and wining. He said if you want it your way, go to burgerking! Then after we were paying, he was demeanering us and talking about us to other tables. I have never in my life been treated with such unprofessionalism and clearly he does not care about his customers or the business. Our server was in tears at the table and said he acts like this to any customer that makes a complaint. I wanted to let everyone know to pass this along in case you are making a decision on whether to eat there or not. I know I will never go back, despite how much I like the food. more

I like this place. Have always had good food here. The drinks are very good as well. It fills up fast on a weekend night. Can be very noisy if there are many people at all there. Pros: food and fun, modern atmosphere. Cons: parking difficult, can be very noisy more

Great drinks and tasty food but poor dinner service.\r \r Waited at the bar for a table, drinks were good and service was fast. Got the table and it just went downhill. \r \r Waitress took the order and that was it for about half-hour, waitress showed up again and we asked about the appetizers and we were really ready to order our second round (our first round was at the bar an hour before). Waitress said the appetizers would be ready in a few more minutes. They were. The appetizers came out in another fifteen minutes with our meals! \r \r At least three of our meals, waitress told our guest that her meal was not available and what would she like instead. Finding out a meal is not available when everyone else is getting dinner doesn't cut it. \r \r We asked again about our drinks since we had waited close to twenty minutes for the second round. She said she would check and we said don't bother, just bring us water.\r \r She came back ten minutes later with our water and the bill. (Guess we didn't want to order anything else. Maybe she wanted the table free so she could work or a tip.) \r \r Looked at the bill, decided to pay with cash since it would probably be another half-hour before we got the Visa back and left.\r \r One guest went to use the bathroom on the way out and found she had no toilet paper. \r \r After finishing up in the bathroom and walking to the door to meet us outside the manager asked her how the dinner was. Big mistake; she let her know we paid $120 for service that was non-existent, drinks that never showed up, appetizers and meals that were served together, one meal was not available and at the end all we wanted to do was leave as fast as possible. Oh, and you have no toilet paper!\r \r Recommendation; good bar scene. If you go stay at the bar and drink and maybe order an appetizer. Skip dinner, oh, and bring your own TP.\r \r more

Havana Norfolk is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. The place has the feel of a trendy lounge with dark lighting, exposed brick walls, wait staff dressed in black, etc. But this place is more than a trend. Reservations are recommended...it can get packed on the weekends. But the food is well worth the wait - the ingredients are fresh and prepared to perfection. Grab a signature mojito at the bar and an order of the fantastic chicken nachos while you're waiting. And try one of the daily specials - always a great choice. more

Showed up at 7:15PM for a 8PM reservation, but didn't get seated until 8:50PM! And some people sat at the table we requested (upstairs) without having a reservation, but no one could tell them to move. Spent the dinner trying to avoid people bumping into our chairs. Food was plentiful and delicious but arrived cold, prices were good, wait staff was attentive. The left overs the next night were our favorite part.
