The steak wasnt made as well as other Ruths Chris I had been to and the service was not very good. more

The steak was not worth the money 2/21/2011

The steak was overcooked and tasteless. I dont mind paying for a good steak, but when I have to pay for A+ when I get a F that is pitiful. more

Expensive and disappointing... I won't return... 10/30/2010

My friend and I were looking forward to a nice evening out and since I had never been to Ruth Chris'.. we decided to indulge. What a disappointing experience. The salad was good, I ordered the Fillet well done and my friend the Rib Eye medium well. Mine was delivered as rare, my friend's was tough. I sent mine back, in the mean time my friend was trying to wait, but I told him to eat, so it wouldn't get cold. I got my steak back and it was burnt on the outside and pink on the inside. It came back by the time my friend had finished. The manager came over and comped my portion of the meal, and said that the next cut would be perfect. I took it home, and when I cut through it at home, it was pink again.. I called the manager back to let him know, and he told me it was the kitchen manager's night off. Needless to say, I won't be back.. Too many other steak places in Austin that will do a good job,... more

Amazing steaks and great service 2/1/2010

My husband and I just went to Ruth's Chris last night to have a really nice date night. We were looking forward to a great steak and a nice bottle of wine, they did not disapoint. We strted off with the Oysters Roccofeller, which were good. I have only had them once before and thought they were just as good. We then had a wedge salad with blue cheese dressing, the wedge portion was HUGE and the dresing was great. My only issue was that they did not put enough dressing on the salad, but out server noticed right away and brought xtra without even being asked. Then came the highlight of the meal, I had the bone in cowboy ribeye and my husband has the NY strip. They came out sizzling in a small pool of butter and smelled divine. Keep in mind that you will probublly want to order your steak slightly under done since they continue to cook on the plate. My steak was crispy on the outside and perfectly done and juicy on the inside. We had the potatos au gratin and creamed spinach for sides. I find at any steak house thier steaks are what they are known for, the sides were good, but if you are looking for the best potatos or creamed spinach you have even had, don't go to a steak house. I ordered the bread pudding for desert and was disapointed, but considering the meal we just had it was a good thing it wasn;t to good becuase i didn't have much room left anyway! Our server was great and perfectly attentive, she new when we needed her and when to keep her distance. We were also pleasently surprised when we recieved the bill that it wasn't as high as we expected!! I would recommend eating here to anyone. Pros: Steaks, Fantastic wine list, Service, Decor Cons: Bread pudding was slightly disapointing more

Don't bother 1/1/2010

If you want superior food, service and ambiance, go to Joe DiMaggio's at the Domain. The prime grade ribeye is far superior as are the ambiance, service and attention at Joe DiMaggio's. Pros: crab cakes & sides Cons: poor service, disappointing entrees & desserts more

What a waste 12/31/2009

What a sad waste of money. more

Great place others don't know what they are talking about 1/29/2009

12/26/08 was a Friday night so pootron must have been making this up. He said he ate on a Saturday night. I dined at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse on 12/27/08 and was the best steak I have ever had. I had the bone in ribeye and it was amazing. The service was prompt and casual not stuffy like Perry's. I would diffenantley fo back. Pros: Casually formal Cons: A little Pricey more

Our 16-yr old makes a better steak!!!!!! Won't go back! 6/22/2008

Honestly I struggle between 2 and 3 stars. We really had high hopes for our dinner at Ruth's Chris but were sadly disappointed. The meat was basically flavorless - our 16 yr old could have made a better steak! Seasoned with only salt and pepper - just blah! I have to agree with another posting about the au gratin potatoes - cheap cheese, no seasoning - the only saving grace was the salt/pepper we added at the table. Salad was basic - nothing special - just a basic salad you could get at any lower priced restaurant for a heck of a lot less. Our waiter was good but overall the service was nothing to brag about. Certainly not what you would except for this caliber restaurant. The ancillary wait staff served and removed our food from the incorrect side, in fact reached across the table from the other direction to remove dirty plates. The table itself was never cleaned of crumbs throughout our entire meal. We did get plenty of water served though! The somewhat rushed atmosphere made it feel much more like a semi fast food restaurant which was another thing that made the experience disappointing. Our waiter knew we were disappointed and mentioned it to the manager who expressed his concern and did comp us for one dinner. That was nice but it just doesn't make up for such a disappointing experience....we won't go back EVER. Pros: Didn't have to wait to be seated Cons: Below average food / marginal service more

There is difference between "fine dining" and "expensive dining" 6/14/2008

My hubby had fond memories of Chicago and Huston and had wanted to take me out for a specail diner. This was not it. Louie tried, bless his heart, you can't blame the wait staff for dirty knives and horrid food they just get stuck on the front line. We came away with this. The meat was cooked perfectly and the wine Louie recomended was great. Go in order a plate of meat and some wine and call it a done deal ,because the extras are only little more than a step up from a sorority house schwan man delivery. When did a few roamain leafs with a drizzle of some flavour void oil become a Ceaser salad? When did a few canned musssshy potatoes with greasy cheap cheader become Potatos Augratin? Mushrooms? Turn a few ,again flavourless, white button mushrooms over in some melted butter and serve al dente? Shame on you Ruth's Chris for calling this flavourless stuff "fine dining" We actually brought a doggie bag home for our dog. She loved the meat but agreed with us on the potatos and mushrooms. more

Best steak I've ever had. 6/29/2007

Maybe I haven't eaten a lot of steaks in my life, but this place has the best steak anywhere. I never realized steak could taste so good. Definitely very pricey, but it's well worth it. I can't ever eat another steak without comparing it to Ruth's Chris. Highly recommended. more

Service, consistancy, quality overall great experience 6/21/2006

I've eaten at Ruth's Chris steakhouse at several locations and all are good. However my experience at the Austin Texas location has always been outstanding.......From the friendly Texas Greeting to the "Thank y'all" for dining with us by the owner make this a must do and do often Steak house for us. Pros: Always on top of things, consistent quality & service more

Nothing Special 11/17/2005

We don't mind paying more for a great meal. Heard this was the place for a good steak, so we went to celebrate my husband's birthday. He wanted to go to Gumbos for steak, but I convinced him to try something new. The food was way over priced, great service and atmosphere. Don't go here for a special occasion, it's not a special place. The steak was only average. more

Great place to Celebrate 8/23/2005

I took my husband there recently to celebrate passing his FAA flight exam. I placed a reservation online ahead of time and put a note as to why we where coming here to celebrate. The waitstaff was so attentive I didnt know what to do, it was totally unusual to me. Our waiter answered all of our questions and made sure my husband never had an empty glass of coke. As we prepaired to leave, they offered us desert, which we always pass on. That is when they told my husband that to celebrate his passing he would get one on the house. No other restaurant that I have been to for a special occasion has done any such thing. While the food is expensive, you will NOT be disapointed. Highly recommend to all who LOVE a great steak. Pros: Atmosphere, Food, Staff Cons: Parking more

GREAT TEXAS BEEF 6/25/2005

We had a great time and the steak was delicious. Our server was attentive and the location was very convienent to downtown. I only feel that a lovely sauce to accommodate such a nice piece of beef would be welcomed, other than that it was exciting, busy, and I would reccommend dining here. more

Ruth's Chris 6/2/2004

Great place to celebrate an anniversary. The staff was incredible. They kept wishing my wife and I a happy anniversary. Food was good except for the garlic mashed potatoes. Had better. Steak very tastey. Would have to say it is overpriced, but still a great place to go on special occassions. Pros: friendliness, staff, atmosphere Cons: , mashed potatoes, ala carte more

Take Out A Loan To Eat Here 8/23/2003

I love steak! But Ruth Chris's is not the place to eat it. While the steak was large, there was tons of fat on it. My main complaint is the value. You pay twice the amount to get a steak than any other steakhouse in Austin, and you still get less to eat. This is because everything that goes with it is a la cart. That's right, you pay extra. So, if you want to get a great steak and side dishes included, then visit one of Austin's other fine steakhouses. You wont be disappointed with them. Because if you dine at Ruth's, then you will need to take alot of cash or up your credit limit. Pros: They serve steak Cons: expensive, no parking more

So-So for the Expectations 5/15/2003

Pricey and the steak was just par for the course. Was a little overdone. I ordered Medium and received Medium-Well... Pros: Nice Atmosphere, Good Service Cons: Price, Flavor more

Good Service Good Food 1/31/2003

Any steak you order is worth the trip alone. The service is probally the best I have ever had in Austin and the staff is very, very cordial. Pros: Service! more

Yall are wrong 1/13/2003

I highly disagree with Ruth's Chris Steakhouse ratings. I think that they should have been higher on the list. I can vouche for many people when I say that "Ruth's Chris Steakhouse has the best steaks in Austin". Pros: Great Service, Valet parking, Great business attire more

Could have been better. 1/13/2003

The steak was not cooked as ordered, twice. The shrimp was rubbery. Everything else was great. The waitstaff very cordial! more
